Luciana Serra is a Goddess of singing and having seen her several times on stage I can say that recordings do not reproduce the fullness of harmonics of her voice that even if not big was capable to fill with her vibration the space of big theatres like as those of London or Rome. Anyway her coloratura is astonishing.
She has a great note foundation, diaphragmatic breathing to the maximum and she utilizes the gnaw to reach higher notes. So you are right she is great ,one of the best for me , I also like Diana Damrau as well. They are both really great
I saw her sing this role in San Francisco and she was amazing. Spectacular vocal fireworks and flawless technique. Her Gilda in Rigoletto with Ingvar Wixell was also splendid.
Hearing her voice felt like going to the forest and listen to the sound of nightingales, I've been looking for a version of "queen of the night" aria as this one for a few weeks😍 Thanks
@@jugo4590 I have, yes. During private voice, and a conductor rehearsal. And that's beside the point. Trained ears know when a pitch is off. Doesn't mean the performer is bad. Just that a note or two was off a bit. It happens.

I absolutely LOVE Luciana but I just think her voice is just too sweet to play the Queen of the Night. I mean her technique is flawless, her voice is as always inhumanly perfect and she sounds mesmerizingly beautiful and pleasant, don't get me wrong. But she just doesnt give me that "crazy evil queen who urges her daughter to kill a man or she will disown her and hate her forever" vibe, you know. her voice is smooth, light and sweet, even here. idk, just feel like thats not the right role for her to interpret.
Mozart always need a lighter bright voice for the high sopranos, because Mozart has 5-7 voices (soprano-many times a high and a lower soubrette, mezzo, tenor, baritone-sometimes a baritone and a bass baritone, and bass), too dark would fall into the mezzo voice category. It’s not like 19th century bel canto where the voices are required to cover a greater range so you only have three voices-soprano, tenor, and baritone, that’s it. So you can have a darker more dramatic voice to cover those ranges, like Maria Callas. Mozart used more stringent classical harmonious theory so too dark a voice for a soprano would not harmonize well, amongst other things.
I have yet to find anyone else sing the notes so perfectly. Other performances are either sharp or flat. Luciana Serra in this performance is the most accurate.
The singing is perfect. Serra is one of the greatest sopranos of all time. But for overall performance of the Queen of the anight, I prefer Diana Damrau. Not only is Damrau scary, but her clear and perfect pronunciation of the German lyrics makes a huge difference in my opinion.
No comparation in coloritura and powerful. Luciana Serra is perfect in german diction. The only part I prefer Diana Damrau is the psichological interpretation of the Queen like mother...
This is late in her career; it's what happens to the voice when you're older, that white sound. And you can hear how she struggles to keep up with the tempo. However, considering her age, there's still some amazing singing there....her triplets are so much better than 99% of people who sing this.
they should've let Battle perform the role of the Queen, because the current lady rushed the mess outta this aria and failed to engage Battle, actively, because she was so focused on squeaking and squealing those notes out.... such a shame.
@Robert Lee, Countertenor Battle has sung many public high F#6, as well as a few high F6. Vocally, this is my favourite Queen of the Night ever. Her vocal clarity and agility are just out of this world.
Perfect technique. Outstanding.
hey, that s what I think too! : ) I ve been saying that for years!
It’s true the best one
The best version I have ever heard. But then I know next to nothing about opera. Still, to me, this sounds perfect.

how lucky!!!
powerful, and so beautiful.
Procure.
Eu tenho o DVD desta versão, com a Luciana Serra.
Que oportunidade incrivel!
She is absolutely stunning.

My fave !!!!!

So wonderful and beautiful!
Best Queen of the Night Aria , Bravo Luciana !!! ...

Una diosa de la coloratura!.
Everything about this production is just stellar. This was performed in 1991, I believe.
Wonderful! !!💙
Que cosa tan hermosamente celestial.....de ángeles!!!!!
Brilliantly done!
Una gran cantante.
Greatest! Perfect Queen of the Night. Ex aequo Edda Moser.
Uau!
The best interpretation!
Beautiful! 😍
Natalie Dessay

Inimitabile!!!!
A Luciana é fantástica.
The best version
Outstanding 🌹🎶☀️
Best Soprano of All Time 😊
A rare Dramatic Coloratura! Flawless performance!
She's more on the lyric coloratura end.
@@dougronald561Does she has big voice?
@@ben-hurjudha3648 no. I’d say not. But she’s nevertheless a fine performer and is near perfect for this role.

I disagree. She definitely gives off "crazy evil queen" vibes. The music is sweet, her voice not so much and it is quite forceful.
Like Diana Damrau, she does ❤️

Luciana Serra Divine.
