In hindsight again, I think that MIGHT actually be a cold shut. It only showed up on one end and it was only about 0.020" deep. Let me know if you have some tips and advice! I'm learning tons so far already.
Great start. That bar is huge. Can’t wait to see the etch.
"Oops I dipped it Again" is totally Tshirt worthy quote. Nice chill video and process.
Haha maybe that should be a shirt. Thanks man!
Glad to see you back on the UA-cams homie!
It's good to be back!
Keep it up Don! Loving your videos.
Thank you!
Your look of disbelief at 0:45 lmaooo
Still hurts
Awesome stuff bud!
Thanks dude!!
Sweet video dude
The more you stack, they less you have to worry about that shunt or delam. One more stack, maybe twist or something and you'll be $
Yeah I've found out after restacking again that it looked and felt pretty good
Hey Don, great progress! I'm looking forward to the finished knife!
Thanks Johan!!
You shouldn't hit on the bias until it's a solid piece. That's why you're getting delaminations, stated an area was suspect, grind that shit out! Turn up the gas & get it hotter!!
Nick said he was at your shop, you going to do integral now?
I may do an integral here and there. I'll need a lot of practice though, Nick made it look easy haha
Don Nguyen Knives well, he makes everything look easy. I made a small wheel attachment for integrals out of stainless. Now I found that I need one for paring knives too 😐 the geometry is different.
Merry Christmas everyone.
So I followed along and understood everything until near the end of the forging process when you grabbed one of the tools hanging from the hammer and put it between the steel and the striking face of the hammer. Is this to manipulate the pattern of the damascus, or does it serve a different purpose?
Great video by the way. It was great to see the finished product after all the patreon early previews.
it can be used to create a more interesting random patern but also to draw your billet out faster becaue you move more steel per hit
@@yair6093 Yep exactly, it's more just to speed up drawing out the billet because of the concentrated force, but it does introduce more interesting distortion in a random pattern.
What power hammer?
Say-Mak
For the fusion welds are you just creating a puddle without filler and moving on?
Correct, no filler.
Hey don im a local that builds a lot of Damascus and am now mixing in copper and nickel I would love to get together and do a collaboration
Let me know if you’re interested
