    My husband was watching and suddenly my 7yo son started thrashing around screaming, and while he thought his son was dying, he was actually just excited that he was in your video as your "WE'LL PIN YA!" guy. For 2 years, he says it after every single Happy Birthday song to every single person. He's prepared his whole life for this moment. You literally made his entire life. And he now thinks you guys are best friends. Much love from your best friends in Canada!

    Mechanical engineer here... let's do the math!
    580 horsepower at 1200 rpm is 2530 lb-ft of torque. 1st gear can be as high as 30:1 in some models but 8:1 for a road truck is typical. The axle ratio at the differential is about 2.93:1. This gives around 59,300 lb-ft of torque at the wheel. The tires on a typical big rig are 40" tall or 20" at the radius, giving 35,580 lbf of total possible tractive effort.
    With 500 people, each person needed to pull 71 pounds of force to hold the truck back. With 1000 people this would be about 35.5 pounds of force which is a lot more reasonable for the average adult. Of course, if you pick the right surface you could cause the tractor to lose traction before full tractive effort is in effect. Great video!

    • @Redbikemaster
      @Redbikemaster 2 роки тому

      I'll give you some numbers off my truck.
      My Low is 12.31:1
      My final drive is 3
      25:1
      My truck puts out about 1650 lbft at 1100 rpm (not sure on the exact rpm off memory)
      Tires are standard US size.
      I agree traction will be the limiting factor ultimately. If the truck had a few tons over the drive axles it would easily win.
      Have fun with the math

    If it snaps, the stored energy in the rope is high enough to actually tear limbs off people at the front of the tug line.

      Consider that pulling a trailer loaded with 40,000# (about 20,000kg) is routine for those big rigs... there's more danger of the rope breaking than the semi losing. Loss due to lack of traction far more likely rather than any lack of torque or power.

    • @deathskill7353
      @deathskill7353 3 роки тому +7

      Yeah even with a lot more people. The driver was in low gear in low range and he was feathering the clutch just to keep tension for the video. Those trucks are engineered to make insanely massive power and the only reason they don’t haul more is cause the road underneath it can’t handle the weight.

    • @jaytibby
      @jaytibby 3 роки тому +1

      You're going to need more than 300 weight lifters with good traction.

    • @bigjohn3435

      tractor in low likely has a minimum of 55,000 ftlbs of torque so unless those power lifters can each pull enough to hold back a 1995 mustang gt he'd mop the floor with them with ease.
