This song reminds me of my dad who passed away in 2011. After the Yugoslavian civil war when he returned home, 8 years after I was born I kept asking him what they did in the war, he never talked about it. I could see the pain he had in his eyes.

He lost brothers (in every nation, fellow soldiers are viewed as siblings) and that's hard to go through, I know because I've lost brothers and sisters in combat, it weighs heavily on my heart, I never took the PTSD programming because it would disrespect those who didn't come home

My great-grandfather Ivan Presnyakov was the commander of a mortar crew (82 mm mortar). During the crossing of the Dnieper, his mortar crew distinguished themselves in steadfastness and courage. He, along with his comrades, helped to contain the onslaught of the Nazis and strengthen the bridgehead.
For this feat, the great-grandfather was awarded the title of "Hero of the Soviet Union" with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
I would be proud of him.

I am probably too late on the hype train called Sabaton. I discovered you guys couple months ago, and frantically listened everything you guys made. Your music is so epic, the stories that you dig up and try to prevent them from being lost are just amazing. Lyrics, composing, the energy you guys create is just astonishing and I would be the happiest person in the world if I can watch you live just once.
You made me curious about stories from history, unknown battles, heroes and villains. After every album that I listened in these months of discovering you, I found myself searching for more things, more facts, more amazing stuff from our past.
You are my best discovery ever. Thank you for all the music and just keep them coming!

Something about, "Upon our chosen ground, dead men marching!" hits in such a cold way, it's downright epic. An enemy so completely unaware of their folly they eagerly goose-step into a hell of your own design without even a second look. A trap sprung in thunderous surprise with the braying of guns and savage cries. It's so visceral you can almost picture it like you were there.

I love the thinking behind this song. It starts out slow and with a heavy chugging, as if you're waiting for your moment to strike. And then... when the moment comes... THE AMBUSH HAPPENS AND THE SONG SPEEDS UP! CHAOS ERUPTS! Masterful songwriting!
Honestly, a good song about Partisans. Its rare we get one about them. Plus, love the part where everything ramps up. Its like the start of the song leads up to the ambush, and at that very moment, hell is unleashed onto the occupiers. All sides come rushing down, the front tank or vehicle destroyed, gunfire swamping the invaders.

I think this and Stalingrad are the only Sabaton songs (I can think of) that undergo a tempo change. But this is only one of the several reason why Unbreakable is one of their best songs.

I've been listening to Sabaton for like a year now, even now i'm hearing songs i never heard. I've never liked a band so long as this one, truly an accomplishment in my book.
I would be glad to see a song of the soldiers of the Japanese empire, even American vommanders remarked they were astounding soldiers, no other army would hold a position to the last man. Of course there were many atrocities, but the courage of the individual Japanese can't be ignored

If I'm not mistaken, this is not about a single event, but instead, dedicated to the partisan "forces", especially during WWII.

Why the quotation marks? Partisans actually did a LOT of the work fighting the Axis.
@@cakeboss4194 yes they did. I was trying to different them from the country's regular armed forces to emphasize how special they were and the fact that they weren't all forces. There were many groups who distributed information, kept an eye on events, etc. (organizations like "The White Rose" come to mind). Why don't we have a song about Sophie yet?

this song is a masterpiece, each lyric, each line had so much thought put into it. The beginning portion's lyrics are about preparing for battle with a slow tempo, when the tempo picks up thats the plan being put into action. The high tempo give you the andrenaline that you might get in the heat of battle.

Maybe about the Battle of Aljubarrota or about the legendary soldier Aníbal Milhais who in WW1 fought and killed by some accounts more than one hundred Germans all alone as his allies retreated, he lived to tell the story.
