In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I find many of his statements to ring true in my own education, and the usage of time, in many situations I currently face I can't use the knowledge from my college education to solve social and personal issues, the only purpose it has is specific to the degree's career field. I'm not sure where to move from here.

The Community as a Classrooom is excellent and the way that true education should move ... To apply teachings when you receive them to your life and the community you live in.
Next - I love Frank Sinatra, and Dizzy Gillespie!!

Unfortunately, our educational system focuses on churning out "good" workers and is less interested in developing innovative minds capable of transforming the world. It is my hope that this talk will inspire people to challenge education to fulfill its task. With the environmental landscape rapidly changing, it is imperative that we begin to develop innovative approaches to educating our youth, in order for them to become change agents for the challenges that will impact our global society.
