#Branagh is BRILLIANT as Director-Producer-Actor in having relaunched Shakespear to a contemporary mass audience with his 1989 #HenryV ..and then #MuchAdo ..and then #Hamlet ..then #TwelthNight ..then #LovesLabours ..✌
My fav trivia of hamlet is the original intention is theyre basically all thors family. So theyre used to blood and death but theyre the conquerers..so here the ghost of the dad is more of a symbol of defeat and much more ghastly
i disagree, i think having an american actor making absolutely no effort to hide his accent makes the scenes he's in feel deeply weirder (ie, as they're supposed to feel) and make it seem as if something in elsinore is deeply wrong (or wicked, if you will) and the castle is deeply ill-at-ease. i think the casting works very well if you view it through that lens.
Do Danes speak with British accents so strongly that Jack Lemmon doesn't fit? I think he acts quite well in the role and the diversity of accents helps to make the entire play seem more worldly. And yes, this Hamlet is a great Hamlet.
Ok, the movie is awesome, but this scene is ridiculous. They're just changing guards at the end of the shift. Having the replacement takle the one he's replacing and having the first one say "you come most carefully upon your hour." While his face is in the dirt, make no sense. Does the guy do this every night when he comes on duty? But the rest of the movie is well done!
Damn it... I love Jack Lemmon. I believed he could do no wrong whatsoever. It didn't seem phyiscally possilbe. He was pure magic dust... but this is the first time I believe he ever gave a bad performance. And in such a landmark film, no less... ... but I like to believe it was the last... FOR LEMMON... FOREVER... R*I*P

I did not understand a thing, i was forced to watch this 💀
How lovely !!
The Best version of Hamlet!! No argument
just stick with the original play
totally agree
I read that originally it was based on the viking families so technically the cast of the f&furious should be in this

This is on some dope shii
Lemmon’s acting is fine. Early Modern English spoken with a North American accent sounds clunky
I agree. Lemmon was a great actor but his appearance felt out of place with this film. Clearly only added in for star power.
@@romanramirez7847 he was fantastic

I don't think Jack's acting was bad....he was just miscast. There were multiple Americans in the film but somehow on this scene it sticks out more.

I love this version of Hamlet, and I love Jack Lemmon and the humility with which he played that role.
My fav trivia of hamlet is the original intention is theyre basically all thors family. So theyre used to blood and death but theyre the conquerers..so here the ghost of the dad is more of a symbol of defeat and much more ghastly
It's weird that the guy who spoke first asked who was there.
Anyone else here for ms dubose
yass 😍🥳🥳🙏 /s i hate it here 😭
But I still can't get Sneasel....
Drastic miscasting of the great Jack Lemmon at the outset BUT this is a great Hamlet.

About as good ..but different ..iterations of 'Hamlet' ..were #MelGibson's early '90s version ..and #EthanHawke's early 2000's version. ✌

How can the great Jack Lemmon possibly sound so inept? It's as though he's seeing his lines for the first time, on cue cards.
Damn it... I love Jack Lemmon. I believed he could do no wrong whatsoever. It didn't seem phyiscally possilbe. He was pure magic dust... but this is the first time I believe he ever gave a bad performance. And in such a landmark film, no less...

It wasn't his last. And he wasn't bad.
I agree. He sticks out like a sore thumb here.

Hi guys
Jack Lemmon was incongrueous and way out of his league. 😢
I’m playing Horatio for my school’s Shakespeare Troupe and the acting in my school seems more believable than half of this
How did it go?
Of course of course
this is bullshit i hate homework
Jack Lemmon was far out of his age and element, and dragged this opening scene down. Good actor, but not for this play.
It's not a big character anyway.
