Oh dear! Guess you didn't change the oil after the dip at Billing last year then? Hot diff cooling under water will suck water in pretty quickly, that's why the maximum wading depth for a Series is only about 18" from memory. Hope you get it sorted without too much agro, they are far too useful to be parked up!

Indeed so 😢 better attempt to waterproof the axle casing needed... that or another landy just for playing 🤔
Some extended breathers would certainly help, some pneumatic fittings and plastic pipe will do the job for a few quid.
