Duke Nukem Forever’s new Add-On Content, Duke Nukem: The Doctor Who Cloned Me is bursting with all of the over-the-top Duke goodness fans love. Deep in the heart of Area 51, Dr Proton has been hatching his evil plan. Fueled by new ego boosts, Duke is ready to take on evil clones, aliens queens and anything else that comes his way in order to save the world and his babes!
This full new single player campaign includes brand new weapons, all-new enemy types and bosses, more Achievements, and brand new interactive items within the world
Hey guys, I didn't talk about this DLC in my Duke Nukem Retrospective so I made this video to rectify that. Enjoy!
Love your content man keep it up
I'm such a silly Lesbian I didn't even know there was a DLC.
Cheers man. I was debating whether to get the DLC or not. Will probably still get it if I can get it cheap. Ain't paying £7.99 for it though haha
I see you know your judo well sir.
@@nickrobinson9926 I loved your movie Kings of Summer 😉👍🏻
That opening in the room is a reference to Black Ops.... for some reason
Perhaps to the fact DNFs gameplay sucked due to callofdutification. You know, just 2 weapons, qtes, level design simpler than a mind of an average chav, gnome saiyan.
Even the main game's ending was a COD reference.
And the training rooms in the clone facility were a reference to Portal.
The DLC is filled with references and easter eggs.
Also reminds me of Civvie's room :^)

That was actually a quote from Duke 3D. In Duke 3D iirc it played at the start of the multiplayer mode.
s'pretty good.

Fun fact: The story of this DLC is pretty close to what the OG DNF story was, before the complete reboot 2 (or was it 3, I lost count). The original plot was indeed about return of Dr. Proton and him cloning Duke. If you followed the crazy dev train from the beginning - or got your hands of the GOTY art book - there were several designs of what was coined 'NegaDuke', as in evil antagonist version of the main man. Almost none of this stuff is in the final game, until this DLC.
I think this DLC is a testament to one thing: Many naysayers complain that all the DNF development was lazy and non-productive. It was the contrary - there are several games worth of stuff created for the game - it was the lack of direction that was the issue.
Penguin DT yeah...
Definitely a lack of direction. They kept rebooting it and changing this and that and this. I wanted it to be good so bad.
Kummakummakummakummakummachameleon we all did buddy....we all did...
Also chasing trends and _needing_ to be on the latest hardware. Ironically talking so long to restart the project from scratch that another, newer thing would come and repeat the process all over again
Lack of direction and feature creep. Broussard, or however you want to spell his name, kept wanting more and more things in it just because he saw it in a game/movie.
I wasn't aware this DLC has such deep plots 9:29
make a review this dlc also my dude :D

You mean deep "thoughts"?
Yeah that's some nice backstory indeed.

This video just made me want to go back and replay the dlc. I liked Duke Nukem Forever and I thought the DLC campaign was damn near better than the actual campaign. Good video.
I didn’t even know it had dlc. I might pick it up since it’s probably cheap.
I also liked it. Sure its not perfect but I waited for years after it came out (though I played Duke3d when it came out)
My expectations were low and very much surpassed. I think is people didnt expect this much this game would have been well received
So Duke is a womanizer but he's not a woman beater? I can respect that...
Seven7swords yeah that’s always been his M.O. hell duke 3D sent more aliens to kill you if you killed a woman in it

This is actually at least partially developed by 3D Realms as part of the original 2007-2009 DNF build that we got as the full game in 2011. Screenshots from that time prove it
Guess Gearbox decided to finish it up later or find a way to charge us for it separately no matter what. 🙄
@@GuyOnAChair It was one of the things chopped off from the original 3D Realms build, which originally or at least at one point had larger levels and all weapons available to you, and a different Duke model
@@JarJarBinks4ever Yeah I've looked into DNF's development myself. It's quite a fascinating wormhole.
When that moon section shows little logic in gravity and yet makes more sense than Mass Effect Andromeda.

Tbh I found the game pretty fun. It's more enjoyable than a generic militat shooter campaign.
SwoleRadroach yeah i had fun with this game. thought i was the only one who liked it
I didn’t hate it and it wasn’t the worst piece of sh*t game it was made out to be. I didn’t hate Aliens Colonial Marines either. They were at least average if not a little better.
@_Yeah what are you talking about? If you watch his original review he says the game isn't as awful as it's made out to be.
The game is fun. Period.
@@michaellozada1077 its a breath of fresh air , it discovers a lot of new ideas and its interesting to see what comes next , better than yearly cod games atleast
I personally find Duke Nukem Forever to be quite fun.
Same bro. Has it's problems but it also has it's moments.
Andrew JM same
I think people's expectations were ridiculous
They kept rebooting it and changing engines and whatever for 15 years. They could have released 3 or more games in that time.
When I first rented this game when it was first released, I too found it fun.
Sure it wasn't perfect and isn't as good as Duke 3D, but it's fun at least. Haha
Man..I really wish DNF had modding tools. DNF could've had the same amount of fan made maps and total conversions that 3d had. Alas wishful thinking.
Yeah.
No, it couldn't.
@@todesziege yeah like I said wishful thinking
Damn you, Randy Pitchford.
The last thing Randy Pitchford needs is modders doing a better job than him.
That DLC made the game so much more bearable and really did some steps in the right direction to a never coming sequel.
Still waiting for that sequel
Though I think the DLC does a lot of things right, I also think there were wasted opportunities in its design and execution. I think you were onto something, Gggman, about having Dr. Proton cloning himself and appearing again after you defeated him the first time. Discussing Dr. Proton in DNF just makes me think about how he would've been executed in the '98 or '01 versions of DNF.
For a humorous villain from Duke Nukem's childhood platformer past, he had a lot of potential in being updated and expanded for the post-Duke 3D world of Duke gaming. Proton's biggest quirks in DN1 were to taunt and make fun of you on those video screens, his vainglorious boasts of supremacy, and fighting him in a uniquely designed location. In a properly executed update, he would've served as a humorous and campy combination of Dr. Breen, SHODAN, and Bob Page.
Considering that DN1 had you fight Dr. Proton at different stages, the DLC could've borrowed that aspect, but also having Proton wield different hoverchairs like the Rigelatin bosses from DN2. And the Rigelatins themselves had potential to be updated and expanded upon in DNF's universe as well.
It's a shame the DLC couldn't reintegrate the originally planned characters for DNF, like Bombshell or Gus. If only they could've brought back the cut concept of fighting gray aliens with an Evil Dead chainsaw. Those are things we may only see in the updated installments for the DNF 2013 mod for EDuke.
1:25 Lol that's totally a Call of Duty Black Ops Reference 😂
Sean H I was just about to say that
Finally! You're reviewing this! I personally love this DLC, one of my favorites
I need to beat DNF again because I love that game regardless of the problems.
The game is good. It's fun. And that's the truth. Simple
So there are at least 3 of us that enjoyed the game.

Newspaper wasn't clipping through the table, there was a small counter around the desk that was raised so it just looked like it.
"I hate to kick my own ass, but it's got to be done." The morning prayer
Think I really enjoyed it just because I was soo stoked to see Dr. Proton as the antagonist. Really should have been the focus of forever instead of basically a rehash of Duke3D..
The DLC was truly wonderful, if even only in spirit, since we finally had the long, long, LONG awaited return of Doctor Proton. I'd been waiting so long.
Hopefully, like how that may have been him in the 2001 DNF trailer, we'll see him again!
Dat ventrilo harassment reference tho
BALLS BALLS BALLS BALLS BALLS... BALLS OF STEEL.
I came to look for this comment when I heard that. What a classic!
It's amazing that they mentioned that classic Duke Nukem Ventrillo Harassment video at 3:20. That video was a masterpiece from the old days of UA-cam.
I miss vent harassment videos. What was the one with the wow clip. 4 stram or somthing like that
9:46
While it's not exactly clipping through the table, it has a shelf the paper is partially obscured by, it's so badly textured (if at all) you wouldn't be able to tell either way.
oh shit, wouldn't have been able to catch that
Fun Fact: During Duke Nukem Forever's earliest development cycle, the original story Idea they had was of Dr. Proton stealing alien technology from Area 51 for evil purposes and mutating his army with it and Duke taking it upon himself to stop him. This DLC feels like the story that almost became the base game, but got changed half-way through.
I remember being confused Dillon was still alive too. But then I didn't care since he was one of the best things about DNF, and he is even funnier tiny. He is like to Duke what Sergeant Johnson is to Master Chief.
"Imainge getting this for christmas"
I actually did get Forever as a Christmas gift lmao
Actually, I kind of liked the final boss fight. It was more interesting and strategic than just pummeling the Cycloid Emperor.
Not gonna lie, but I wanna have my own personal mini Dilon for some reason...
Oh OK...Yea... *backs away slowly*
This exact scene occurred in many other videogames, film, and books, with many versions.
Maybe I'm being too clever, but I would have loved it if this DLC made you question whether you were the real Duke Nukem or just another clone.
Are you crazy?! Making a good plot twist so Gearbox can boost its fanbase? Madlad.
I honestly questioned it in the base game too :(
Could you review The Spy Who Shrunk Me? It's on Steam and inspired by No One Live Forever.
No One Lives Forever? Holy shit, thanks for the heads up!
@@GeneralTantzu Haven't played it myself but the devs on the forums said it was a big inspiration for them
Holy fuck, thanks! Putting that on my wishlist for sure!
I really loved playing this though.... Much better than the original, still, I did actually like DNF, it lacked HUGE ammounts of polish but was such a guilty pleasure.
DNF is one of my favourite PS3 games.
I agree, the game is not great but it is no way near a broken or even horrible game. It was a 6.5 to 7 counting this dlc
I really liked DNF and its DLC, I've waited 14 years for exactly that. People were asking for an arena shooter, just like we've got with Shadow Warrior in 2013 and Doom in 2016, but you know what? Duke Nukem was never an arena shooter, Serious Sam was.
I take DNF level design over a lazy bunch of square arenas any day.
Best comment on DNF ever. DnF and the DLC are no masterpieces, but they dont suck at all, they were simply technically outdated and it shows in the animations especially. However, the game changes in every section, always throwing something different to do, and the scenarios are very recognizable. I never thought I was in the same corridor again and again. And the shooting is FUN, silly and not trying to be serious, just like old DN3D. The gameplay is good, there are some great ideas there, it just shows that a troubled 10+year development can do no good to a game. The DOOM reboot was fucking praised and l felt it was a good game and that's it. Always the same hellish-looking environment with some rocks to jump onto. I think the game lasted way too long, because the arena parts got really old by the half end. The shooting plays great and the game looks fantastic, but the gameplay repeats itself way too much.
@@182.pixels Duke Nukem always made its own thing; it combines shooting mechanics with incredible level design and interactibility with objects in the environment. Shadow Warrior did almost the same thing, and then we've got Shadow Warrior reboot in 2013 which was exactly what I said above: an arena shooter (the second one was the absolute pinacle of a wasted potential with looting mechanics and procedural levels).
Those reboots aren't bad games, but they're just arena shooters with incredible shooting mechanics. I still miss the incredible and memorable level design.
I'm really glad that someone is finally covering this DLC, since I swear everyone forgets to bring it up. While it's not Game of the Year or anything, from what I saw of this was pretty damn amazing.
yeah atleast they gave a small shit and said. why not give the fans a bit extra. but i hate how randy dropped duke again. fucking prick. then again duke according to many doesnt belong in this SJW age. he clearly is a 90s action hero ripoff. i dont shit on duke but its true.
No, we said that it was the BEST OF the shambles that is/was Duke Nukem Forever. That doesn't mean necessarily that it is a good game, just that it's better than the main game of DNF.
I 100% agree.
And now that retro FPSes are making a comeback I wish Gearbox took UE4 and made a new game with maps created by Levelord and the other man who designed the World Tour Edition episode.
Basically old-school level design and gameplay with modern graphics.
Sorry I’m late, but I appreciate the irony of the initials DNF.
Actually the dlc is pretty good
Duke clones re-programmed for good cause? m8 i don't think world would be ready for Dozen of Dukes to kick ass, chew bubblegum and hit on ladies with his masculinity.
if they had an AUSSIE duke it would say "Fuck me dead it's Duke Nukem". Great channel from Sydey, Australia
I remember liking this dlc a lot but i also only played it once years ago
I loved this dlc back in the day i was surprised nobody talked about it.
The "tutorial" section was a parody of portal though.
I remember having more fun with this DLC than with the main game.
And yeah, the muddy controls and moon physics made the last boss fight extremely tedious.
dude that newspaper aint clipping on that table...look at it for more than a few seconds and you'll see
Did it, still see it clipping :(
@@madwolfdrawing look to the left edge of the desk, you will notice this area is raised above the desktop and runs along the front of the desk. the lamp is on top of this section of the desk. the newspaper is on the desktop (which is lower than the edge of the desk that the lamp is on). Now you will see that the newspaper isnt clipping into the table, but that it is partially obscured by the edge of the desk.
Oh, i see it now, thanks for the explanation :D
Thanks for the video, I still have a soft spot for Duke myself. When is the Turok 3 review coming? Looking forward to that one.
Me too, i liked Duke Nukem Forever, despite its massive flaws. I also liked the Doctor Who Cloned Me dlc as well.
I actually enjoyed the DLC a lot, most of it was made up of unfinished DNF content. This was supposed to have been weaved in with the main story, so what we would've gotten was an even bigger campaign. The Doctor Who Cloned Me was definitely short in comparison, but I still found it a lot less frustrating and more consistent. I really wished it had a survival mode.
I'll admit I'm one of the few weirdos who got the game on my birthday, and still actually like it (please don't judge me). Loved the multiplayer, too. It wasn't exactly balanced and could be a bit janky on one or two maps, but it was just so much fun sprinting around endlessly and zapping Devastator-spammers.
Duke Nukem Forever and its DLC is still the best FPS since HL2 to me. It's dumb and great and has no reason to exist. I loved it.
Kaffeebohnson
It looks stupid and too American...if I ever play it, I play only because babes.
This doesn't look half as bad as he is putting it out. In fact i've heard the word "fun" a lot of times.
The whole DLC was cobbled together from left-over idea's, yet it was inexplicably more entertaining and much more palatable Duke Nukem Forever then the base game for some reason. I guess it was just an example of the right chef making do with the base ingredients to make something edible, and perhaps even tasty!
"whats that stain supposed to be?"
GOO!!!
Lmaoooooo
What a second this looks amazing. We're mainstream reviewers lying about Duke nukem forever back then? Was this the start of the sjw madness and they hated the fact that Duke is policitally incorrect and a bad ass. I know they would be now but I didn't think that started til 2014.
If it is I will need to go get this game.

Idgaf what people say. Duke nukem forever was awesome to me. Then again i was like 14 when I played it but personally, I still feel it was a mindless, bullshit shooter. It was never meant to be deeper than that.

I know it sucks, but I love this game.
I liked it to.
I just played the DLC yesterday after completing the main story in the days before. I really liked it with the good balance between action, humor and puzzles, just like the main game. There are some things I didn’t like, such as Dr. Proton looking completely different from the first game and the final boss (the moon section was fantastic). The car got flipped, throwing me out and it took me quite a while before figuring out the boss couldn’t be defeated without it and it was actually possible to flip the car back up and use it again. Then I got to the point where the boss was down and you have to jump the car. Driving around it I saw no possible entry and boss came back to full health, driving through the legs again, taking care of thr enemies again and same story, over and over again, not having enough time to figure out where to make the jump. Having to go to walkthroughs and youtube to progress really really takes away some of the enjoyment. Placing Octabrains which can’t be defeated with explosive weapons near the Ovaries which require explosive weapons made it somewhat tricky. I don’t really get the negativity around DNF 2011 and the DLC, maybe it was because the expectations were unrealistic because of the many delays or some people expected some realistic shooter. It’s just a great shooter with kick ass weapons without all the drama of perks, skill points, upgrade systems. Just grab a gun and shoot some aliens.
Just out of curiosity, do you know any less extreme FPS games (preferably more single player based). I’ve been wanting to dive intro the genre but found the extreme nature of a lot of the games a bit overwhelming.
Try borderlands, it isn't very graphic and there's an option to turn off the blood and gore
Are you going to do a Quake game series from worst to good in the future?
They're all really good, but they're each so different of a game they're kind of hard to compare.
DNF is one of my favourite recent games and I wasn't aware of this DLC. Looks great fun at least. Duke is one SERIOUSLY tough guy - so tough that he apparently doesn't need to wear a spacesuit on the moon! Balls of steel, man!

Dr. Valencia looks like a mix of the Penguin's sexy allies (Candy and Tracey) in Batman: Arkham Origins.
8:04 best part of DNF by far.
I thought the final boss was a blast. Controls never felt unwieldly. I just wish the moon base was somewhere you could actually enter in-game, rather than relegate it to a cutscene.
Hey Gmanlives, I‘m playing Blood: Fresh Supply right now and having a blast. Thanks for recommending it.
