Way Huge Pork Loin is the overdrive I suggest for Addison. I don’t know why it is so overlooked. Clean blend plus internal trim pots... It’s big and silky and clean and it rips.

I leave the Epoch Pre always-on at the edge of breakup, and use the Lightspeed to push it over the edge. These are usually going into an AC-style amp, but they sound good in cleaner platforms too.
These "new and notable" videos are my favorite thing here. I get to know what is new but most importantly what is "notable" because there must a new guitar pedal coming out every hour or so. Also i know that i'll get to hear how they honestly sound because you guys do this for fun, unlike so many guitars channels who only worry about what free stuff they will get from companies. But of course above everything else i love these videos because you guys are awesome, as usual 🙂

44:00 I have found tone Nirvana after the same search. I use a Thorpy Dane into a SolidGoldFX Commodore(BB circuit). It is heaven. the stages of gain offer so many tones. And I will sprinkle in a JRockett Ikon Klon. Or a Hermida Zendrive clone(a Joyo Taichi R series believe it or not it is insane good)
After the switch, with the ZIO active; Loved how the upper notes retained a reasonably clean ring while the lower intervals hit overdrive with complimentary overtones.
I settled on an mi audio super crunch box v2. I tried the Friedman BE and dirty Shirley pedals a bunch of others but I found the switching on the mi audio SCB v2 did a lot of different things. It has 4 band eq bass mid treb and presence (it's a Marshall in a box pedal) gain and vol but the switches. 2 tri switches one is clipping level, like a headroom level hence affecting gain that way and the other switch is gain level. I can get clean boost to crunchy overdrives to high gain distortion. My favourite clipping level is the open setting (very smooth but if you use your volume control it can blow your head off volume wise). It has the smoothest tone but hard to control volume wise. The highest gain mode on the other switch gets super smooth lead tones. The middle clipping mode is the most user friendly in terms of controlling volume and you can set the gain switch to clean boost, crunch or high gain more to taste but the volume/gain cleanup roll is very controllable using the guitar vol pot. All the switches are on the outside so no need to open and adjust with trim pots to increase/decrease gain range and the clipping switch helps fine tune the response - all done with the switches. I've heard it compared to the angry Charlie but with a 3 gain mode switch and a 3 clipping headroom switch, which allows it to get a huge variety of sounds. Hope that helps
Pitch vibrato modulation is the “final tree in a bob ross painting” of pedals. Got a decent guitar, good setup, intonation perfect, sweet amp, clean & noiseless signal path, perfectly tuned guitar using a strobe tuner - now lets slap a big tree over 1/3 of the lovely landscape we painted. 😆
Addison: For your consideration, my #1 recipe is a Dumble-esque mix of pedals from J. Rockett. Here's the gain stack, in order: the always-on pedal is a Blue Note; next is the Touch overdrive; and the amp-in-a-box is The Dude. It's the sound I've been seeking for a l-o-n-g time. If you want lighter, sweeter overdrive, try the Cusack Screamer in the second position.
Addison, try a Joyo Roll Boost, into a BD2 at high drive, into a EQD Plumes at low drive. This was the tone I finally found, that I love. And then convince Josh to make a single pedal with this tone. Thank you.
Oooh, I totally agree with Thomas about the Way Huge Pork Loin (plus it’s got the best name ever). Way hugely underrated. I’d also suggest trying the Looking Glass by DOD and Shoe pedals. Super versatile and plays extremely well with others. You may well be looking for a couple drives stacked. Anyway, thanks for the memories, man!!
Dear Addison, EHX HOT WAX Set the Hot Tubes side to 'edge of break up', set the Crayon's gain to taste and its level at 9 o clock so the HT side clipping doesn't erase the clipping from the Crayon, and blend your clean tone to taste! And after your brain breaks with happiness I'll take my thanks in the form of a Haunting Mids :)
If anyone wants a really great colorsound overdrive variant, the BAT Black Forest is awesome. It has a 6 way rotary "depth" knob to allow more bass frequencies so at the deeper settings the fuzz aspect of the pedal gets really wild and gnarly.
Addison! I absolutely love the Plumes on guitar AND bass, but that's not what I think you should try. Get your hands on a Dunes! It's essentially a smaller section of the Palisade from EQD. Adds a brightness and bandwidth toggle compared to the plumes, the latter of which boosts bass which is awesome for you guessed it, bass! Still a fantastic guitar pedal, it's a more versatile Plumes and versatility is what the Plumes is known for!
Things to try for Addison: 1. Combination of boosts/treble booster/overdrives/compressor/EQ pedal 2. Fuzzes but turn down the volume of your guitar 3. I don't know just try things I'm just some dude on the internet what do I know Seriously though, check out the latest That Pedal Show on treble boosters, they played TB into overdrives and that was cool.
Great as always. So, this is for Addison, but my suggestion for a dirt pedal would be the Okko Diablo. As someone who has an old gooped one and has tried the new ones I can honestly say the old ones are what you’re after. The new ones are alright. I think smooth edge describes them well but you can do literally anything with it. So there you go.
JHS Double Barrell is literally my favorite tone ever. If you haven't discovered this pedal already as a JHS employee I just don't know what to say....
The Past FX Chorus Ensemble offerings would be my choice for drive as well to think outside the box. They have the standalone preamp but people would use their Bosses with output maxed as a secret weapon drive, and even Josh with all his pedals may not have a CE1 that's 100% functional
Hey Addison. I've gone through so many overdrives and each time I think this new one is the one, I come across another pedal or go round in circles. For a while now I've gone back to running a Ibanez Tubescreamer into a Fulltone OCD. Great combination, but also great on their own.
@@cdclaxton You will see: Dan is making a pedalboard for a friend and has some ideas about it, why he chooses the order of pedals for him like this. Still it hasn´t to apply for everybody...
I've been running the strong mod on the Bonsai into the OCD for a while now. Just got a tumnus to get a similar sound without the low end cut for rhythm.
Addison should try a Ratted-Timmy, which is a Timmy into a Rat (say it like Ratatouille). Using the Timmy as like a dirty boost to warm up your clean tone and the rate for high gain.
As a Nova Delay owner, watching the pedal slowly reduce your delay time cuz' you're not on the delay time knob center detente, kinda' drives me a little crazy. Great sounding pedal, though, and I am very fond of the Nova Modulator, too.
45:30 : Jan Ray, Timmy, KOT, Eternity, Kalamazoo, Blue Note, lightspeed, southland, morning glory, ODR-1, Broadcast, zendrive, and so much more. How come you not find the overdrive you need. There are millions of amazing OD circuits out there.
TC Nova series are great-sounding boxes and undervalued on the used market, imo. The dynamic delay is my jam, but I use the simpler, no-presets Nova Repeater, which has a more focused feature set. I use mine with a J Rockett APE which means I can have an Echoplex EP3 sound with reverse delay, which is insane.
Leftfield suggestion for Addison: Ibanez Bass Stack. A Ratlike with clean bleed. Surprisingly good on guitar, and very expressive drive at low gain. Second suggestion: Crowther Hotcake. Just joyful to play through. Almost every setting is sweet. Warm British blues through to Malkmus.
I got one of the first few boxes from Tru-Fi effects and got a purple Super Fuzz!! Just had to flex! Dude makes some really solid pedals and this super Fuzz is awesome! 🤘
The Nova Delay & Nova Repeater have been on my mind for years. Now they are on my board., Yay. Zio is always on my mind. We wants one. Preciousssss booossst
Nice to see the ColorSound PowerBoost getting some love! I have a clone of one, allegedly hand made by the founder of a sadly out of business boutique pedal company in the UK (BranTone?). I absolutely love it; you can come come close with others, but you can’t nail that “glassy” Gilmour DSOTM-WYWH tone without one. I understand it’s a fairly simple circuit; I’m surprised there aren’t more clones of it (HINT- a JHS version perhaps?!!).
Just Plug into a BOSS SD-1 (VOL. 10, GAIN. 0, TONE. 12 o' clock or more) into a BOSS Blues Driver (settings to taste). Just use the OD-1 as a preamp into the BD-2 is what I'm trying to say, gain stage and signal flow right.
Dear Addison, my overdrive search ended with the Fender Smoulder. It’s an acoustic overdrive but i use it with electric. I would hope that Josh could analyze it and tell me what it is that makes me love it so much.
"These pedals have been on my mind" is a feeling. Sometimes you just need to hear a tone. Also, Addison I have the pedal you seek. You do not have this pedal, but we can make it happen.
To Addison: Maybe try the Hughes & Kettner "AmpMan Classic". So many options - it´s even a pedal board power amp. Or just taylor the sound of your favourite drive pedal with an eq pedal "post drive". Typically graphic - or sth. else, even made by JHS, maybe. That said - pedals (to me) are like colors on a canvas. If the canvas isn´t "right", ALL the other colors can´t be right. So, if you are rather experiencing this, then your current pedal platform isn´t of the right choice - whatever it is now: amp, combo, DAW-stuff, etc. Then you have to think this over and change it first.
Re Addison OD (the Oddison?) King of Tone or appropriate knock-offs have the fun dipswitches to mess around with light OD and boost, and adds that overall fullness and dirty lift to taste. However, if you don't mind trolling your boss, the Behringer VT999 could be fun--very tweakable and responsible gain, noise gate, and best of all, it's a tube pedal, which JHS just ADORES
There's a center detente on the delay time knob rotary encoder: if it's not on the detente the delay time increases/decreases depending on knob position, faster/slower as the knob is turned up/down. Josh's is barely below 12 o' clock, and thusly gradually shortening.
Well idk if I’d say one is better than her other as much as they’re both just vastly different players. I honestly had never really heard of Schull before appearing on the JHS show, but I do really dig his playing. His and Josh’s playing styles are just very different but cohesive at the same time imo.
Addison, please give the Bondi Sick As a try. It’s klon like and sounds very amp like to my ears with the toggle switched to the less compressed setting. Pairs amazing with a morning glory also as Josh would probably tell you. Enjoy!
I’m digging the New and Notable format. They’re amazing! I have no other way to be acquainted with new gear and brands.

I ordered one of those Tru-Fi 18V Overdrivers, a few weeks ago. Can't wait for it. That pedal sounds incredible!
The last jam here feels solidly in the Smashing Pumpkins 'Gish' b-side territory. Love it.
Addison!! Get a Lovepedal Tchula!!!!!! Best overdrive I ever did play. It’s everything you’re looking for I promise
I got one of the first few boxes from Tru-Fi effects and got a purple Super Fuzz!! Just had to flex! Dude makes some really solid pedals and this super
Fuzz is awesome! 🤘
We enjoy these "New & Notables" too! 👌
I’m dying with the nova, the delay knob must be at the center 😅😅
The ghost shell made me so happy
Addison: You described the Egnater Goldsmith overdrive perfectly. It's beautiful and utilitarian, simple yet complicated. You'll love it.
BD-2
The Nova Delay & Nova Repeater have been on my mind for years. Now they are on my board., Yay.
Zio is always on my mind. We wants one. Preciousssss booossst
That Tru-Fi made me feel some kind of way.
Addison ought to try the Earth Drive from Sarno Music Solutions
I’m only to the first jam but I loved it - Addison you are once again hittin hard. Great stuff, man.
Depending on your dialect, the d in fjord can be silent. Love from norway
Perfect tone: Mesa/Boogie Mark I. No need for an OD pedal. You're welcome!
Please get Zach on, I love Mythos! The Oracle and the Argo have stayed on my board and are part of so many of my songs. Make it so!
Dear Addison, my overdrive search ended with the Fender Smoulder. It’s an acoustic overdrive but i use it with electric. I would hope that Josh could analyze it and tell me what it is that makes me love it so much.
Awesome as always🔥🤘🏻
Addison we all know that the overdrive your missing is the boss metalzone, it’s the only pedal you’ll ever need. It’s the perfect tone.
Came here to say this
"These pedals have been on my mind" is a feeling. Sometimes you just need to hear a tone. Also, Addison I have the pedal you seek. You do not have this pedal, but we can make it happen.
Is he gonna survive?
BYOC Crown Jewel with the dry blend board and whatever module appeals
A day late, but currently watching this after working all day and ordering takeout for the wife and kids. Thank you guys for everything you do.
Gilmour used the Power Boost more on Animals - 1977
For Addison: I highly recommend the Lovepedal Amp 11, or the new MXR Duke of Tone. Both are totally Righteous.
Sad Dad Takeout Night is a vibe.
I feel your pain, Addison. I’m also on the same search.
"It's just passion" the truest explanation.
That Walrus mod pedal is sweet! But at 350$ I think I’ll stick to my $100 Chinese digital cheapie for now.
I'm not a dad but I get "I Just Got Off My Crappy Job and Now I'm Going To Get Carry Out On My Way Home" vibes from the first jam.
Addison, son, if you can't find an overdrive, you don't like overdrive. You're a distortion guy, learn to love it.
Empress Effects is my home town pedal manufacturer!!! Representing the Capital!!!
By far, Nick's best Ernie Ball Trivia Time segue ! WellJob
Did they not notice the nova delay's time shifting the whole time?
What was with that? Why was it “counting down”??
There's a center detente on the delay time knob rotary encoder: if it's not on the detente the delay time increases/decreases depending on knob position, faster/slower as the knob is turned up/down. Josh's is barely below 12 o' clock, and thusly gradually shortening.
JHS, it’s just passion.
Josh, you are a damned good and imaginative guitar player. I ALWAYS enjoy your playing miles more than Rhett Schull.
Well idk if I’d say one is better than her other as much as they’re both just vastly different players. I honestly had never really heard of Schull before appearing on the JHS show, but I do really dig his playing. His and Josh’s playing styles are just very different but cohesive at the same time imo.
I was watching Rhett before Josh/JHS. They are both great players. Two different things going on.
@@IamtheFerryMan it's a running joke.
Addison, please give the Bondi Sick As a try. It’s klon like and sounds very amp like to my ears with the toggle switched to the less compressed setting. Pairs amazing with a morning glory also as Josh would probably tell you. Enjoy!
