That sphagnum moss certainly work well for making trees. Good thinking with that John. I must get some myself when I get to making some trees. Regards Geoff
Good technique, I like ideas like this to make cheaper trees, as the ready to plant ones are very expensive but if youve got the time go nuts. I may only have 1 tree on my layout, just to hide a join butI may make my own rather than buying one.
Alex Hill I agree Alex they are too expensive. Those 20 trees took me about 4 hours, with the longest job actually twisting the wire in the first place.
Hi, you are looking for oxford diecast models. Many model shops would sell such, try 'The Model Centre', CHELTENHAM model shop, Kernow Model Centre, Rails of Sheffield not forgetting Amazon or ebay. Hope that helps.
Hi John, great video for me as, I am fairly close to needing a whole load of trees for my N Gauge layout. I will definitely try this technique. One question please, what is the diameter of the wire you used? Thanks Clive
Hi, glad you found it useful. Its been a while but think it was 0.3mm. You definitely dont want it too thick amoe its hard to manipulate. Hope thats helpful
Hello John, my philosophy is learning multiple techniques of making your own trees will allow my forests to look more natural. How many times have you seen a layout with all the trees looking identical? So thank you for helping my forest look more realistic. See ya next time.
