- I needed to do this again. Sometimes you need to go through your closet multiple times in a year, especially when you've been growing as a person and need to shed things that you attribute to the old you.

As I am watching this, I'm making a wrap top from my grandmothers old curtains, she passed away 2 years ago, it is also my birthday so it feels like a gift from her. Sentimental pieces is what I live for^^

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I only recently started to make an effort to thrift my clothes and rarely buy new, but I've had a lot of buys that I end up rarely wearing. It's getting better though. I just have to practice holding the same standards for what I take home as in a normal, pricier store. I'm just more forgiving in a thriftstore.
@@marta83809 I always ask myself if I like the piece enough that I'd buy it at a retail store for a retail price. If the answer is no, then I don't buy it at the thrift either. That's helped me a lot!
I´m trying to control my impulses recently, enter the dressing room with several clothes and sometimes I don´t buy anything at all unless I ABSOLUTELY ADORE IT ( yes like that), I´m proud of myself but it´s been hard ngl 😂
Just a thought for everyone: thrift stores still have to pay staff (Goodwill used to exploit people for unpaid labor), utilities, rent, fixtures, etc. Plus all of that is probably more expensive in the coastal states. The best deals are at garage sales, I guess!

The first red and green plaid circle skirt looks like the PERFECT skirt for Christmas time. Yellow Shein dress with a broken zipper has already caused you too much grief. It must go!

Dang I wish I was your size because you have some cute Items! However, the yellow shein dress was my least favorite on you so no loss there in my opinion, except for the 12.99. Goodwill is becoming my least favorite thrift store because of their pricing and pulling the gems for online sales. It used to be a treasure hunt but now I fell like I'm sorting through junk.
I am such a sweater and coat hoarder omg. I have several sweaters from thrift trips that I will probably never wear again because I have since gotten comfier ones or I will wear my hand knitted one, but I can never get rid of them 😭 same thing with anything handmade, even if it's a total flop and doesn't fit me right lol

Cleaning out the closet and getting rid of clothes that don’t fit anymore is a whole journey. I’ve gained weight in the past few years and had to be honest with myself when I was getting rid of clothes. It was bittersweet. 🥹 But better for me. Also yessss on that mental health journey as well. Trying to get better. 🥹💜 may we slay in our journeys. 🗡️

Yes get rid of both the black dresses with flowers, I was cheering for you to donated to the tv screen as you were asking the 4th wall. I was inspired and started going through my closet.
Perhaps take some of the items you'd like to fix yourself to a tailor instead? 🤔 I know it'll take time (and money) away from you, in a different way, but at least you wouldn't have to worry about those items joining the Doom Pile over time 😅

In the past I’ve done that a lot, kept things with the hope that I’ll get them tailored to work better, but unfortunately I lack the follow through so stuff ends up sitting around forever lol. I do still sometimes do that if I REALLY love something and it’s unique in my closet but more and more I’m trying to be selective about what I keep with the intention to tailor and what I pass along to someone who it’ll work for better in its original form.

You did great! and I can totally relate to feeling the need to keep so many things, I find it helpful to go through a little checklist with items-
1. Have I worn this within the last 6 months( or whatever time frame you want )
2. Is this something I would buy now?
3. Am I keeping it for other reasons than just liking it? (Simply keeping because it was a gift or spent big money on it)
4. Is there a reason I don't wear it? (Uncomfortable, doesn't go with other items well, doesn't fit)
5. Is there something wrong with it? (Needs repair, will I repair it?)
I find questions like these help keep me on track a little! It doesn't always work but hey, I try! 😂
As for the two leg slit dresses, they are completely different. One is floor length and long sleeves, and the other is shorter, with short sleeves. So, apples and oranges. For what it's worth, I vote for the longer one.

I feel the zipper could be a quick fix, but at the same time understand being overwhelmed and too stressed to add more things to your plate. If it is too much that's okay, there are other dresses. Take care of yourself! 💗😊

I need to do this. Currently all my fall and winter clothes are in a closet that i completely blocked in while trying to work on my baby nursery so i have to take tons out of there to get to it haha

Aww yess the baby nursery 🥰 - yeah this process was definitely freeing. I think doing it more than once a year helps because sometimes you’re not in the right headspace for certain items but going through the autumn/winter stuff right before and seeing what I’m actually excited to wear or not was so helpful.
@DressMeUpScotty that is so true! Yeah I went through my summer stuff a couple of weeks ago and could tell what I just did not wear at all throughout the summer and it was easy to just let go of stuff

I use the brand Ion Color Brilliance at Sally Beauty Supply. I mix two shades but can’t remember the names at this moment but I made a video earlier this year touching up my color and I think I showed them. They’re also in my 2022 favorites video.

Maybe trade the dress to someone who is fine to change the zipper? Or change the zipper out of spite! Usually whenever I change zippers I can let the garment out just a touch. The dress looks beautiful though!

5:28 I would say downgrade the occasion and just wear it to anything. If you’d normally wear it to a birthday then just wear it on Sundays, for example. Or if you’d normally wear it on Sundays then wear it during the week. Hope this helps. I want you to get your wear out of the dress before it stops fitting or whatever, since you spent so much money on it.
I would just hold that zipper with a small babypin while wearing it, easy fix.
