    This is very important. We "love" a person, and that is not happening. We love our past, the good moments we had with that person: memories, photos, ideas, travels... all so beautiful and endless. If the person reacts or acts differently a time, we are totally dislocated, out of place ; we bet all our lives in a standard behaviour, but the person changes, a total surprise to us, we feel we are right, and the other person is crazy or we cannot trust them. We became robots, machines, we expect the same thing every moment, so we lose the beauty of the moment. That´s why people are always smiling at their pasts, they want to revive them- it is safer than the present: you cannot predict nor be prepared for something new. Thanks for the insight.

    Just observe the process of attachment, not only one moment, but from the start to the end.

    If we decide to end attachments, we struggle. This struggle in a way represents attachment with detachment. Thus, attachment still exists.
    Only when we become an observer do we end attachment in true sense.

      ❤And my dear, when one becomes an impartial observer, does he end being a person of action? How is righteousness accomplished? Some attachments are necessary to respond to because they are backed by natural valid reasons. Evil inclinations in us and oppositions requires righteous actions. So, what is the difference between good attachment and bad attachment? And if being freed from attachment requires observation, does that mean constant observation towards a lazy vegetable state whereby no actions are performed?
      Waiting for your response.

      @@mtalk828good point. According to me, if we are clear about the purpose of following an attachment which doesn't bring any conflict is a path easy to be attached with. It can be as simple as thinking of becoming a better human every day (there are so many ways that you can detach and attach easily without being in vegetable state) another one.. being kind enough and attached to something you really want to do knowingly that how you will come out of those things later on (knowing clear path of root cause and countermeasures at the same time). I thing if we are attached to something which has a much deeper sense that actually adds value to this world is a good attachment with lesser number of disappointments (if separated from) than someone following a materialistic things. My 2 cents.

    • @mtalk828
      @mtalk828 Рік тому

      @@prashantnrasu - ♥️Being attentive to what's here and now (present awareness) as coming from God, is the greatest attachment. Because if you are not attentive, how can you be understanding and effectively love? Righteous action requires pure awareness to do the will of God.
      It appears to me, Krishnamurti doesn't know God. And that's very unfortunate. It seemed he viewed the present actions and happenings of life as just happenings that comes out from our experiences and other sources. He doesn't believe in an Intelligent Being that is the primary mover of all things and IN all things.
      So, how can you sustain shunning the evil and sins in life if you have no "Higher Order" to be accountable to? Note, the God who will judge the world based on every deed, word, and thoughts we entertained.
      So, how I see it - just being an observer of what's now, saying "don't be attached," and then adding we shouldn't be attached to even God as the All-present One, doesn't make any sense to me. That means the wicked have no One to be accountable to. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Anything goes. Such a view is "spiritually dangerous" in terms of keeping in tune with the moral laws of the universe. You break these laws, there is intense misery and hell.

      @@mtalk828 There is no such thing as "good attachment." All attachments lead to afflictive states of mind. You can validate, positively assess, or use a person, idea, or memory, etc., as a point of reference for setting your course in life, BUT you should never become attached to them, because, then, your peace of mind is being dependent on external factors.
      Also, freeing yourself from attachments doesn’t mean you stop being a person of action. Instead, your actions become less reactive and more responsive-more conscious. Attachments breed reactivity, while observation and meditation foster responsiveness.

      That's how it is for all of us. These teachings have always been available for us to learn (because afflictive states of mind arise naturally with consciousness in this earthly life). However, we only begin to truly comprehend them when we are ready to open our eyes. For most of our existence, we live with our eyes closed-not because we choose to, but because we need to walk a path before we are ready to see.

    Speaking of attachment JK's work should become attached to/part of any Psychology courses given to students today Personally I find his work equal if not more valuable then the psychological research ever done, simply because his teachings are about what's happening/operating beyond the mind/psych the thinking, the core of our conflicts. J Kristnamurti asks us to step off the tread wheel or come out the rivers flow to view it's flow (content of mind/consciousness) from the river bank (detached free from are conditioned thoughts/state).
    Attachment is a major issue. I think where he's taking us is to have insight into the difference between healthy attachment free from fear and attachment motivated by fear ending up with no idea of there being such a thing as attachments at all

    The wrong notion,brought about by illogical conclusions that completeness and unending happiness are guaranteed through attachment,is the provocation for the mind to divide into illusory images of " I" and "You",and get attached through relationships.That this attachment is between unequal entities,hence exploitative,has not been understood,because no rational thinking has gone into this( divisive) action.This is why entire humanity gets attached through relationships,and wonder why happiness and completeness still eludes them !!!!

  • @paulbcote
    @paulbcote Рік тому +1

    This is a playful lecture. I like the way that K. teases the audience. It looks like a nice afternoon in Ojai or somewhere like that. The way K's advice strikes me today is that he is not asking us to give up all attachements, only to think about them more holistically, from begining to end. If we live in attachments without a perspective on their lifecycle with us, then, we are going to suffer abrupt emptiness. Anxiety about abrupt emptiness can cause us to hang on tighter to the attachement. Maybe this anxiety is what defines attachment.
    Failure to understand the many possible trajectories of relationships among people and situations in a holistic way can deepen the negative effects of attachment. BUT! if we understand our attachements as situations that have a beginning and an (perhaps unforeseeable) end; And when we are OK with that -- if we watch the movement of the attachment (as K puts it) -- then we may enjoy or experience what is happening without trying to hang onto it. I don't think that he means that we should end or renounce relationships or situations that we are associated or identified with. I think he is telling us how we can enjoy attachments or situations or experiences more if we accept --without anticipation-- their non-permananence and unknown duration. To me this doesn't mean that we should end or renounce relationships with people and situations which at this time may look like attachments. All of this can continue and wil be much more satisfying if we do not become attached.
    In any case, Thank You for posting this. K. is such a deep thinker it is pure magic that people went to the trouble of capturing these moments, and that we cn review them so easily.
