If you rewatch the Fionna and Cake episodes in Adventure Time, at one point someone asks Ice King where his Fionna and Cake fanfiction ideas come from and he says "they are beamed into my brain during the night". He was being serious. XD
We also actually see it happen. Ice King goes to sleep at night and a red beam shoots through his window and into his forehead, and we see images of Fionna and Cake in the beam.
The reason Prismo seems so exhausted is cause he's depressed after Jake's death :((
Also I just wanna mention that Scarab is voiced by a trans woman who can do both fem and masc voices and I think thats pretty neat
you can already get excited for Fionna and Cake, since the show just got renewed for a second season.

The space station where the Scarab is introduced is the same one from the BMO episode from the Distant Lands miniseries. Not plot relevant, but still a neat callback showing that it has survived.

Why is this members only? But yeah, these episodes are great. I love the creativity with these cosmic beings and the worlds they create. And Scarab is a pretty intimidating villain.

10:30 this is really sweet eater egg. Flapjack was a show that helped a lot of famous now artists start their journey with animation. Basically all the names they had are now big in the animation, flapjack is even often called mother of animation. Obviously Adventure Time is there too

It's very interesting that Fionna and Cake's universe is normal and without magic because when Glob swallowed Betty and Simon, digestion cured them. Therefore, their world was healed of everything because the Ice King's madness was gone.

Yay! Morgan reactions! Also I'm pretty sure that Prismo is all messed up cause it's far enough in the future that his greatest friend (Jake) is dead. So he's just sitting in his hot tub watching his favorite moments with his boy.

Do I need to watch adventure time for this series to make sense??
I'd say yes. You should be able to understand the basics by watching/reading some overall plot summaries, but this series in particular relies a lot on you knowing the major event episodes of Adventure Time. You'll be spoiled on many seasons' best twists at the very least.
uhhh yes?? this is a sequel to adventure time after all and it follows up on one of the major characters. You should either binge the whole series, or at the very least watch like, a timeline video or smth before watching fionna and cake
