Austin and Rob are so used to singing together that they are in sync thru the entire song! Perfect! Rob was trained in opera some time ago and it shows.
Holy Cow!!! Seeing them singing opera is as great as when I saw Freddy Mercury singing "Barcelona". It's great when an artist steps out of their niche.
I remember being stumped what to even comment to their video. It's one of those situations where you want to for the algorithm, but nothing really seems adequate.
I’ll bet you weren’t expecting this one! Two of the Home Free boys taking on an iconic operatic song!! What a tremendous and beautiful performance by Rob and Austin!! Yes please keep on surprising us like this! So glad you got to see Home Free live!
I have never been a fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.
You can tell Austin and Rob, being A Capella experts, know how to sing together. They are sensitive to starts and stops, timing, unified vowel tones, and matching emotional intensity. The example you played for comparisons are obviously solo artists who are not skilled in singing duets. Their timing, emotional intensity and accents, were like loose cannons competing for attention, no unity of presentation. The boys of Home Free bring a pot load of of diverse disciplines required in A Capella that solo artists don't need to bother with. Best other example is "Helplessly Hoping". The vocal precision required for that performance and impeccable blend of harmonies along with their unified pronunciation was flawless. 👍
@@RefriedHomeFries Exactly it is the difference between choral singing and solo singing. I have seen soloist struggle to blend with a choir and have issues because they are not used to working where they have to be conscious of what others are singing. It takes an enormous amount of time spent working on singing with others to match multiple diverse considerations to blend into a harmonious sound. Rob and Austin used their strength of long years working closely together to present a very creditable performance. Are they Pavarotti? No, but then who else is?
It seems a lot of professional opera singers rather compete with each other when they duet - Rob and Austin were not only heavenly singing Nessun Dorma but they're used to harmonizing with each other rather than trying to out-sing each other. They may have caused an interest in opera in people who have either never listened to it or disliked it. Just amazing!
@Teresa Cartwright...they have a strong bond too which really shows...I have always said I will listen to anything other than Opera(then death metal and hard core rap hit the scene and were added 😂) I have listened to this song numerous times and find it breathtaking 🥰

Not many know but Rob actually studied opera when in school. He gave it up about 15 years ago and when Austin approached him to do the duo he said he was very rusty.
You know I first saw this last night and I thought I was going to be rickrolled or something. Holy cow! Our boys can sing!!!! They were on sync, their voices were superb and Rob really nailed it. I heard he had some opera training back in college but man, he’s for real!!! I don’t have the words except BEAUTIFUL! Thank you.🥰❤💙
Glad to hear about your progress with the move. For this performance Rob has always been considered the best singer in the group and Austin has a fantastic range and has little ego so inviting Rob I consider Austin is trying to showcase Rob and does not mind being compared and frankly out done by Rob who really sounded like a professional Opera singer.
I wanted you to know that I ordered the salsa from your son's company and gave it to my brother-in-law. Apparently he loves it!! He was trying it on every kind of cracker he had in the pantry.

Austin had been dropping hints about this to his patrons for months, and it more than lived up to the hype. So glad to have it out there so everyone can enjoy it.
In fact I remember him saying at least a year ago in interview with a reactor whose name escapes me that he was thinking of doing some opera, and specifically mentioned this aria.

When I first heard this it brought me to tears. They are absolutely phenomenal vocalist. I'm just so very impressed with their version. Saw you in the chat and said hi. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
It's interesting that this aria has been performed by popular singers recently. Adam Lambert sang Nessun Dorma at the Queen + Adam Lambert shows in Bologna Italy and then again recently at The Harris Reed fashion show in London. He received wonderful praise from trained opera professionals. I think there may be better Italian pronunciation in this video but all of them are killing it. It shows that there are some really great trained vocal talent still out there. We are the lucky ones that get to enjoy the talent spanning different genres.

Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma!
Tu pure, o Principessa
Nella tua fredda stanza
Guardi le stelle che tremano
D'amore e di speranza!
Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me
Il nome mio nessun saprà!
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo dirò
Quando la luce splenderà!
Ed il mio bacio scioglierà
Il silenzio che ti fa mia!

E noi dovrem, ahimè! Morir! Morir!

Didn't see this coming from 2 guys who dressed like hillbillies and sang Bluegrass in Man of Constant Sorrow with southern twang.

@valerie rogers....no, we have been following them closely for the 6 months and are Patreons....we have attended a couple of live shows but haven't met them yet!😉😂
