I know this comment over a year old, but you tell no lies. And after more than a year, things aren't much better either! People will quite literally search for any little thing that they can find to get all bent out of shape and offended. And even if they personally aren't offended, they will be offended that someone else, somewhere in the world, might be offended. Offended on behalf of others. The Crybaby Generation.

House C3 Subcommittee is having an open hearing on UAP/UFOs on May 17th. It should be more insight into the recently established…just wow on this one… “Aerial Object Identification Management and Synchronization Group”, or AOIMSG. First hearing of its kind in 50 years!

Hello Ryan my name is Matt Keller and I’m a huge fan of the podcast! I thought I would share this story with you about your conversation with Darrell Utt. For starters I couldn’t believe it when I heard my hometown of Huntington, WV while listening and it literally made me stop in my tracks. So I work in a liquor store where there’s a older man in his 90s that comes in and gets a bottle of Jack Daniels along with some dip. I always noticed his 101st and SF pins he wore on his hat and being the veteran I am I would always think about his story. Even in my limited cavalry scout brain capacity I was able to realize that the old man was none other than Coach Thornburg from Mr. Utt’s story. Although he tends to have a get out of my way attitude I cannot wait to ask him if he remembers Mr. Utt and maybe finding out he was one of the reasons for a storied military career could make a old vets day. Thank you for your time and thank you for bringing these humble stories into the light! 🇺🇸

I entered the army in 1990 as well and COHORT was a big deal back then. I passed on 3 years at Ft Ord when I joined in favor of the 2 year option. One of our platoons from training was headed to Hawaii together. I also missed the Gulf War with the 4th ID at fort Carson. It was a BIG army back then and only about half deployed to Desert Storm. Different times.

    • @jlapp

I entered in 1990 as well, my basic cohort was all RIP contract guys. We lost about half of them when Iraq invaded Kuwait... I still don't get that. Anyway 2/75th just sat around and watched the war unfold on TV like everyone else. It was very disappointing. I also remember when all the 7th ID guys all came up to Ft Lewis, they were pretty depressed about that. haha

The story of the team going to get the Iraqi brother is the most Green Beret thing I’ve heard in a long time. We hear a lot of violent stories which are certainly worthy of telling and interesting but not nearly as many of overall group character outside of their own teams. My husband is 16 years in, a Scout Sniper, always wanted to go Green Beret but we were blessed with a few little ones so he selflessly chose not to go after that dream. His best friend SSG. Aaron Butler who he’d served with since the beginning and he planned to go SF with did and was KIA in 2017 in Afghanistan. There is just an absolute humility and genuine nature out of Green Berets that is so different from the rest of the military and this interview shows it to a T. Thank you so much for sharing your story Sir and also thank you for this platform.

Really glad I found this! Darrell was my squad leader in Cco 3/187 as he briefly mentions at about 39:00 mark. He was and I’m sure still is, an outstanding leader. And he was totally right about the Sinai rotation. Nothing to do but run and ruck in our down time. We all made super gains during that rotation as far as physically. “ beach” volleyball games almost daily out at the remote site. Ironically, 11 years later if be a mortar PSG , playing “ beach” volleyball at a nice semi- remote OP in Anbar. I can honestly say out of all the squad leaders I had from the time I was a baby grunt till I was a SL in the 82 nd Abn, Darrell was the best. What he didn’t discuss is out original SL had to be evac’ed back to conus due to a family issue, and big Darrell took over the squad as a pretty junior E-5. In fact , he was the lowest ranking leader to run a remote site in the Sinai the time . He took a lot of grief from the COC for dumb shit out of his span of control, but always took care of his men foremost. Sounds corny, but he epitomized “ Be, Know, Do” and the NCO creed. I’m very happy to see that he had a very successful career in SOF. Big fat salute to you boss!
