According to science petrol always wins ....while dragging....among equals....but with load and on hills diesel wins where torque comes in action.....pulling power .....

More horsepower means it can pull more load as well as more top speed..
However engines with more torque and less rpm have more life.
Try climbing in second to third gear in diesel and petrol both. Then you understand why diesel engines have better performance with better torque.
It's because the displacement is more in diesel engines so the torque is more in the diesel engines compared to petrol engine. This is more useful for people who stay in ghat sections

@@tiger1995grvr Any day petrol engine will win in a drag race of similar variant. Petrol engine revs higher than diesel. That gives more power on tap for longer RPM. Diesel car has initial grunt due to high torque, which asks intially gearshift quickly and makes it slower than the petrol. Diesel has that torque band which comparatively more than that of petrol which makes it more capable in off roading, and moving heavy stuff. Bhp is usually more in petrol cars which results in good top speed.
