This one hit a bit different for me. I was a kid when this show came out.
I had never really thought about the almost doomed nature of Captain Planets mission. That his weakness is the very thing that he is fighting against.
It also is interesting to think that one of the reasons that Captain Planet and Gaia are not oppositional towards the humans (like a lot of other environmental protecting characters) is that they understand that humans are animals and part of nature too.

True but I can see the point that despite being part of nature, they are the ones who harm it the most.
Its like if I have 3 kids, im going to love them all, but if one of those kids tries to kill me, their siblings and burn down my house, that love can only go so far.

The same way pollution hurts and weakens Captain Planet, clean things hurt and weaken Captain Pollution.
The other three things that can affect Pollution are earth, wind, and fire.
If you're going to plan against the Captain, you need to cover his nemesis. You could also cover the "pollutionteers" too.

Wouldn't be surprised if Batman would come up with a plan for Bizarro, though, only in reverse for him.
Different things for him, like yellow sunlight and blue kryptonite.
Even Bizarro has reverse weaknesses, much like Captain Pollution.

Since these contingency plans are meant for Batman’s use only, it’s really funny to imagine he wrote them to himself in the first person.
Canonically, contingencies are recordings that can be viewed by anyone with the authorization to access it. So, it does make sense.

You can just tell that Batman just isn't into it this time, Captain Planet is such a good guy and yet so easily defeatable that Batman isn't as motivated and is mainly doing this out of obligation. Honestly I think this is the first time I've seen this happen. Someone so strong and yet so easily taken care of that Batman doesn't even feel the need to use any of his usual elaborate bs gadgets. He literally said he'd just let Bruce handle it and later pass it off like a accident.
Multiversal Wisdom thanks a lot for helping me relive part of my childhood. I used to watch Captain Planet a lot as a kid. It was a show I dearly loved to watch. Among many others. Awesome video.

Honestly, for all the hokiness that Captain Planet's personality and environmentalism has left over the years, he is legitimately one of the strongest beings in the hero universe and shouldn't be underestimated. Any hero who can still control the elements, has super human strength, flight and leave a positive message (even if it can be skewed unintentionally sometimes) he still embodies what being a hero is.
Take his weakness out of the equation and pound for pound, he's one of the heavyweights. He might or might not be able to BEAT Superman, but damn I'd love to see that fight. Have we seen him legitimately hurt without pollution before?
I guess he is like the champion of Gaia and has his weakness because she want to nerf him.
Only every 200 million years his full potential is unleashed and he wipes the planet clean.

I didn't expect this contingency to go this deep, but while the Earth has its ways of fixing itself, we still have a part to play to maintain balance, no matter how small, even if pollution is basically Captain Planet's Kryptonite.

Captain Planet is also weak against hatred/mind pollution. He once encountered Adolf Hitler and doubled over in PAIN form just how vile his mind was
its also worth noting that his weaknesses do not simply extend to litteraly polution,but metaphorical toxicity as well...
when the Planeteers went back in time to WWII ,captain planet came face to face with Hitler,and merely looking at him nearly crippled him.

Neither do the lanterns, their rings being not quite magical, but harnessing power from an Electromagnetic Emotional spectrum.
TLDR: Lantern rings are a work of alien science, not magic.
The Planeteer’s rings are powered by the elements of Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Heart, whilst the Lantern’s rings are powered by the emotion spectrum. So no, no comparison whatsoever.

Batman has nothing to fear from captain planet. He cares about the Earth and the people on it after all Bruce Wayne tries to make an effort against tearing down the rainforest and as for poison ivy, I would expect the worst if she had the power ring of earth. Also, the only closest ally who understands the green more than anybody is Swamp thing. He cares about the environment, but not people maybe captain, planet might help with this issue. Captain planet, and the planters would be a great asset of the justice league and helping make this world a better place not just to save the world from villains and super villains, but try to keep the world, fireman, protective and safe for people, animal and plant kind as well. Batman’s next contingency plan should be about The shadow contingency plan code: laughing phantom.
Seeing Captain Planet definitely dug up some nostalgic memories of seeing this as a kid.
Having said that, I offer up a few possible contingency candidates: Jack Garland from Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin (codename: Chaotic Obsession), Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII (codename: First Soldier) and Noctis Lucis Caelum from Final Fantasy XV (codename: Night Sky Prince).

You forgot the ring of heart Grant's Captain Planet the ability to read minds, influence positive emotions and feel the emotions of others. That third ability also makes Cap vulnerable to negative emotions meaning he can be weakened when exposed to too much negative emotions. Example, in one episode of the final season where Cap and the Planeteers followed Blight and her future self to WWII and Caop had trouble lifting a nuclear missile because he was weakened by all the hate within Hitler, showing Captain Planet can be weakened if he's exposed to lots of negative emotions.
Plus, the Heart Ring gives Captain Planet a conscience. This allows him to understand right from wrong. Without it, he would most definitely go rogue.

As for going after Planeteers, I'd say just neutralize Ma'ti. He's the smallest and weakest and while it has been shown that Captain Planet can be manifested without all five elements, Heart is the most crucial.
now if this was "Nature's Fury", it would end very differently, their leader, Zanaski Blackwater, who controls water doesnt have the captain's weaknesses - his control over water on the molecular level allows him to neutralize just about any sort of contaminant - also, he's just as bad as Poison Ivy, he wants all humans dead - despite being one himself
With that weakness, Captain Planet wouldn't survive 3 minutes in Los Angeles.

captain planets weaknesses was always kind of weird, i mean he is powered up by sunlight (mind you he was outside the ozone layer aka cosmic radiation when he did this), but can be hurt by a discount captain atom, alittle smog hurts him, but he can fly through and be healed by magma which lets off gas magnitudes more toxic. O and batman would need to take out multiple planters as cap can be summed with some of them missing, he is just weaker. We never see captain planet do this, but his doppelganger, was able to summon himself without his rings, so he might be able to in places that have all his elements in place.
I think it's not the chemical itself that hurts him but the spirit of negkection and pollution.
As you said, vulcanos can pollute the planet way more then we ever could - but they are a natural phenomena and life learned to work with them.
