Baby Gorilla Nayembi Thriving

- Western lowland gorilla Nayembi, who was injured in February, is thriving under 24-hour care by Lincoln Park Zoo animal care staff and will soon be reunited with her troop. The six-month-old gorilla is trying new foods, exploring her enclosure, and getting lessons in how to act like an ape.
Thank-you so much for NOT adding music over this! I love hearing the grunts, pants, and natural noises they make while eating, or even out of frustration while trying to work something out. Everyone else wants to add ridiculous baby music instead of allowing us to hear what they sound like. You don't know how appreciative I am because it's so rare.

omg, absolutely precious and so adorable!!! the baby should be given toys to play with, since he or she is just like a human baby. they should be given baby food because they dont have teeth to be able to chew and baby food has very healthy nutrients every baby human or animal needs to grow healthy,

asdf Gorillas are neither carnivorous (At their most carnivorous, they eat bugs) nor very aggressive. They're actually one of the more peaceful primates, only attacking when someone poses a threat to them or their troop. Now Chimpanzees on the other hand...THOSE guys are the ones I'd be worried about tearing me to shreds.

Thank you for you suggestion! I often use the Lincoln Park Zoo videos as a reward for attentive listening, "let's calm down" or just to give everyone a break from books & paper so I do like the natural sounds. They can be soothing and have a calming effect on the kids. It is only when doing an educational lesson that I wish there were more information and will usually end up on the Cincinnati Zoo site. Thanks again for your comments!

I Googled Nayembi 2013 injury to find out why she was hurt. What's interesting here at only ten years ago is that they aren't doing the one on one care modern zoos have established for optimal baby gorilla care. They've learned so much in recent years. Props.
