Where on click from 1st Drop Down(Department), the people picker field(Managers Name) will cascade its options. Source is SharePoint list. I tried but unable to build connection between Active Directory.

Your explanations are crystal clear - like always. Great thanks for all your fantastic videos. I was able to reproduce all the steps with a blank power app. And it works perfectly. It also works (kind of) with a customized edit form for one of my Sharepoint lists. But for the past couple of hours I fail to fix the problem, that all entries in the drop-down control are "invisible" (no text displayed). The selected value from a drop-down is correctly saved to the Sharepoint list though. Has anyone ever experienced this problem?
I found the answer to my problem: In my power app settings I switched to the modern controls. These apparently do not fit to the steps described in this video. But I can switch back and forth to classic and modern controls, whatever I need to add to my form. And then everything works like a charm. Thanks again to Reza for these excellent videos.
Thank you Reza. As always, great video! I have two questions: 1 - Do I (as the developer) need premium license for the Dataverse option? 2 - If so, do the users need premium license to use the app I develop with Dataverse?
Multiple lists in single dropdown would require to first combine data into a collection. I do not have a video on this scenario. I will recommend checking on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com/ in case someone has done something similar.

Great video, is cascading dropdowns possible in SharePoint without PowerApps as the form? Through json formatting perhaps and is there any resources on it?
Thank you for this video, Reza. It was very useful. I’m customizing a SP form in PowerApps. Within this form, I need 3 cascading dropdowns. I had to create a custom card and add a drop down to it for these cascading drop downs because the form is very long and text label kept floating up and down the page as I scrolled. I created the cascading drop downs successfully and they appear on the form, but the selections will not save to the form. I’m sure it’s because the data source for the dropdowns is from a separate SP list. However, I don’t want to create a separate record for these drop downs. I want to save the information on the same record as all of the other information on the form so within the same record. Can you advise? I greatly appreciate your help!

I would organize the cascading data list differently to avoid delegation. I would have a separate list for the countries (directly query that in Power Apps). And then create a lookup column on the country list to set the country values.
Hi Reza, Great work! Could you please explain how to do this with Multiple selection combo boxes? Hello Reza. Your tutorial is very interesting and well done. I have followed the different steps. I use an Excel file online and I have the same kind of problem Marialison Iriarte mentioned in the comments below : when I open the app on my computer, I have an error message indicating : Requested operation is not valid. Server response : failure of tableau 2_2 : Expression "Référence eq null" is not supported. Tableau 2_2 is my data source and Référence the first column of this table. It seems the message appears only when I use the icons >, pencil and + for the first time, then using the app it doesn't appear anymore, and data are well saved in the Excel file. Do you know why this error message appears ?

Hey Reza, love your videos! I have watched so many while trying to learn how to build apps You're always very clear when explaining things. I am trying to use cascading dropdowns for a vehicle booking app where people select the state then the business site. The SharePoint list uses choices though instead of text fields. This means that there's no "Result" when trying to do the "Depends on" piece, and I'm wondering if/how I can make this work with choice fields? Or do I need to use text fields? Thanks in advance 🙂

Thank you Reza. Couldn't thank you enough. A quick question for you, I have a SharePoint list with over 5K distinct values and the distinct function is non delegable. What is the alternative for returning all unique values where SharePoint is the data storage, single line data type and large set of data?
Hi! Thanks for this great tutorial! I have an issue right from the start, for the value field of the item, I only have the option to select "value", I can't seem to get the "result" option. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!
The combo box control search feature is what gives that delegation warning. In most cases, your 3rd level dropdown would have less than 2k records. If you use a dropdown control for city, you will not get the delegation warning.
How r u, Reza? Ismaila here from NYC. This is precisely what I had been looking for. Just wanted to bring to your attention that if 2 countries like the US & Canada had states of the same name, this particular example would be flawed. Is there a way to perfect it taking consideration of that?
Another option would be to design it using lookup column. I do not have a video reference on that scenario though. I recommend checking on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com/ in case someone has done something similar.
Thanks for the video on such an imp topic! I have been trying to replicate it but somehow, it's not working for me. I have simple form with Name, State and City. State and Cites are being fetched from another sharepoint list. Cities are dependent on state selection. When user fills the form, he has to fill his name(text), select state ( dropdown -values fetched from SP list), select city( dropdown - values fetched from SP list). Working fine till this point. But when I submit the form, Only Name and State fields are visible in Sharepoint list and City field is blank. would be great help if you can through some light why it would be happening?
I cannot guess why it is not working for you since I did not come across any issue. I will recommend posting your issue with screenshots on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com
Hi Reza, thank you for this and many other videos. They are very helpful! I have watched a few of your videos featuring cascading drop down lists from a SharePoint data source and I keep having trouble with one particular step. After writing the formula for Distinct values of the first drop down, you ask to make sure I set the "Value" property to "Result". I only have "Value" as an available option, though... It doesn't give me an error, but when I get to the end, I'm not able to pass the second dropdown info to the SharePoint list. It is blank but shows values in PowerApps prior to saving. I have exactly the same setup as you, with a source of SharePoint list with text columns... Any idea where I'm going wrong?
I will have to look at your App in action to know the reason for your issue as I have not come across this. I would recommend posting your issue/query with screenshots on the forums at powerusers.microsoft.com
I have the same problem. When I try to set the Value to Result in the properties Value dropdown, there is only Value there, no option to select Result. I started with a new app, added the sharepoint list, added a dropdown and then tried to select Result.
I am having the same issue. For the first drop down, I can only select Value. I don't have the option to select Result. If I type 'Result', Power Apps tells me 'Result' isn't recognized.
Thank you Reza... Very helpful as always! Two quick questions. I've tried this using collections in both dropdowns (because both the parent and child are Choice columns in SP), but no success. "Sort(Distinct..." works, but do you know if the dependency can be done for collections? Also, what if the SP column you want to use as the parent does not appear in your Matching Field Result options? Thanks again... You are Truly Appreciated Reza!

Here's what worked, perfectly: Distinct( Filter('2. Planning', Process.Value = DropdownProcessPlan.Selected.Result),Output.Value). Thanks so much Reza... God Bless Brother!!!

now which method do I choose and why? :) but more importantly, is it possible to make it so that if for some reason there is no internet connection, it will store the changes locally & then upload/submit the changes when the connection returns?
Which method and why? You mean form control vs Patch function? sharepains.com/2020/06/19/patch-vs-submitform-vs-update-power-apps/ If no internet connection, then you need to handle offline storage of data. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/offline-apps
A recent update was made in Power Apps where "Result" is now "Value". Concept showcased in video works the same. Simply replace "Result" with "Value"

Great video, is cascading dropdowns possible in SharePoint without PowerApps as the form? Through json formatting perhaps and is there any resources on it?
Not with JSON formatting.

Your most welcome

Hi Reza, thank you once again, with first solution and patch formula, what's the best way to clear the form after patch? thank you!
Reset the controls using Reset formula.
Great Video!
Quick Question. Last I checked, the Distinct function is not delegable to SP. Have you found a way around this delegation issue?
I would organize the cascading data list differently to avoid delegation.
I would have a separate list for the countries (directly query that in Power Apps).
And then create a lookup column on the country list to set the country values.
Hi Reza, Thanks for your videos, do you have one that explains the cascading multi-select combo box?
I do not have one with cascading combo boxes
Hi Reza, Great work! Could you please explain how to do this with Multiple selection combo boxes? Example you would select two countries in the first field and you could select 2 states from the second which would give you the cities list ----> all fields with multiple selections? When I try to do this the second combo box only lists the last states based on the last selected country from the first box ie: I select USA and Canada the second box only lists states from Canada

@@RezaDorrani Hi Reza, Your other video (Multi Select Filters in Power Apps) gave me the answer on the second combo box:

But Unfortunately when I select 2 Countries, the second Combo Box shows only the states of the second country. Hi Reza, thanks for your sharing~ If I want to design a Gallery + Edit Form, "Distinct" function cannot be used in Dropdown List or ComboBox right? Need to have two screen View Form and Edit Form, right? Thanks a lot

Awesome video Reza.
In my case, based on the first value selected I want to grab information from different tables (one list was too large, so I separated it). is this possible to do?
Combo box is limited to 2k records. For large list scenarios, use a gallery and allow user to select from gallery.

Should be possible
Great video. Question.. how can I have the cascading drop downs reset to blank outside of the form control once someone hits submit? Everything I’m finding online only works in a form experience.
You should be able to use the reset function on controls. I did 2-3 videos on cascading in which I may have covered scenario outside forms.

Happy New year ... Here I believe the City field is showing delegation warning.. could you please check that ?
The combo box control search feature is what gives that delegation warning.
In most cases, your 3rd level dropdown would have less than 2k records.

How r u, Reza? Ismaila here from NYC. This is precisely what I had been looking for. Just wanted to bring to your attention that if 2 countries like the US & Canada had states of the same name, this particular example would be flawed. Is there a way to perfect it taking consideration of that?

Thanks for the video on such an imp topic! I have been trying to replicate it but somehow, it's not working for me.
I have simple form with Name, State and City. State and Cites are being fetched from another sharepoint list. Cities are dependent on state selection. When user fills the form, he has to fill his name(text), select state ( dropdown -values fetched from SP list), select city( dropdown - values fetched from SP list). Working fine till this point. But when I submit the form, Only Name and State fields are visible in Sharepoint list and City field is blank. would be great help if you can through some light why it would be happening?

Hi Reza, thank you for this and many other videos. They are very helpful! I have watched a few of your videos featuring cascading drop down lists from a SharePoint data source and I keep having trouble with one particular step. After writing the formula for Distinct values of the first drop down, you ask to make sure I set the "Value" property to "Result". I only have "Value" as an available option, though... It doesn't give me an error, but when I get to the end, I'm not able to pass the second dropdown info to the SharePoint list. It is blank but shows values in PowerApps prior to saving.
