I was 22yo and in college when this album was released. I was at home with some friends that day when another friend came by and held up a copy of this album, "YOU MUST LISTEN TO THIS". It was unlike anything we had ever heard before and no other record was played the entire weekend. Soon after, Madonna performed on American Bandstand and Dick Clark asked "Madonna, what's next?" to which she infamously replied "I wanna rule the world". Add in the newly created music channel, MTV, and wait for the explosion!
This reaction was EPIC! My favourite line off this album is “Unlike the others, I'd do anything, I'm not the same, I have no shame, I'm on fire”. I think it sums up the fire and insane ambition early madonna had, yet also is her telling us she’s going to break all the rules in her career to come. This album came out a full decade before I was even born, but it’s hard not to imagine the image of early madonna going around New York to dance clubs with her cassette tapes asking the DJs to play her stuff. She really worked hard and earned every bit of it which is so palpable when you listen to this album. And subsequently it definitely had an massive impact on popularizing dance pop and the sound of the 80s going forward. But I just loved how pumped you were listening to this!!! Like literally got me up on my feet too haha. Which is what this album was meant to do at the clubs she was playing in, also maybe gives you more insight into the structure and long nature of the songs. On a side note, it’s pretty cool you mentioning Kylie here, because Kylie on several interviews mentions madonna being her idol growing up and was always a massive influence for her, with borderline being her favourite song because she had a moment to it during a school disco I think. So you were right on the money in several ways with that and your prom comment too lol. Madonna even wore a T-shits with just Kylie Minogue written on it during her performance at the 2000 MTV awards. So yea madonna was always very supportive of other female artists that came after her despite what the media says. Again such a great reaction, cant wait for the rest to come

Excited to see your Madonna journey!
I agree! She should be commended on this feat. She surpassed a lot of male rock groups( some had very long runs on the radio). I would have thought otherwise 20 years ago lol.
Wow… your reaction was giving me goosebumps 😅 The version you’re listening to is the remastered re-release where Lucky Star and Borderline are the extended versions. Everybody was her first release… there was no MTV back then so everyone thought she was a black artist and was so shocked when they actually got to see her. Burning Up has always been a fave since I was little… I can’t believe I was singing those lyrics from the age of 5… no wonder I turned out the way I did!!! 😂 There’s another album called Pre-Madonna which was all of her demos around the release of the debut album and the Like A Virgin album that’s worth a listen… if you can still get hold of it. So glad you’re giving Madonna a chance… she will win you over 😂❤️
Thank you! Cannot believe everyone thought she was a POC singer, haha! Love that then they played her and then were shocked, what a story! HAHAHAHA the lyrics!!! 😂😂😂 Love that!!

If this album had been made today, it would be under 15 minutes. 😂
@@bennshouts It’s the same on Spotify.. I don’t know why they’re using the extended versions. The original album had much shorter versions of these songs which were used for the videos and radio play.
You actually heard the reissue version which contains extended versions of some songs. Borderline originally is 5:20, the extended is 6:57. Although yes, a lot of older songs tend to be much longer than nowadays. I think that moving forward you should go with that in mind, the standard back then was to feature longer songs. They actually used to release "extended versions", targetting the clubs, and then there was "radio edits", which was waaaay shorter than an extended version and shorter if compared to the album cut. In regards of the lyrics, I agree with you that it is indeed sometimes repetitive, but her goal at that time was to be played at the clubs and the radio. And as a woman trying to grow at the pop/club scene, her sound had to appeal to an wider audience. I think she was going for a very easy sing along approach. She would have enough time in her future to be more deep and experimental. 😀 And it is actually holiday here in Brazil today. 😭🙏🏻
Yeah I agree! Thats why I tried to not dislike the longer ones cause theyre a product of that time! I’m annoyed apple music has just changed the album without stating that they’re extended?! So annoying! I wanna experience the songs how they were originally done 😢 Thank you for all this info!!! 💞💞
When you do the Ljke A Virgin album, please do the UK version so you’ll get Into The Groove. It’s iconic and not available on Madonna’s US studio albums. Still crazy popular in America though.
It’s so obnoxious how the original version of this album isn’t available on music streaming platforms. Like, what even are these weird extended mixes thrown into random spots on the track list? I can’t imagine that being Madonna’s decision. I wish her team would fix this. - Anyway… ooo, going back to the beginning. Prepare for a wild adventure. Madonna’s catalog is truly unlike any other, before or after her. I’d elaborate but you’ll see. Ha. Great reaction video.
Borderline was a first major hit. Cool how you noticed the contrast of Lucky Star and Burning up. I don't know if Madonna's ever stated it, but borderline is also a psychology classification (like Winona Rider in Girl, Interrupted). One of the traits deemed 'wrong' for someone with borderline personality disorder is promiscuity. I imagine Madonna was reprimanded for such behavior, as showcased in the Burning Up vid/lyrics.
My heart is singing and dancing right now, I am so thrilled that you've decided to do a Madonna deep dive and in chronological order. (YOU CANNOT MISS "IM BREATHLESS" PLEASE 🙏) that's the best way to discover her evolution as an artist. I was eleven when this album came out. and I remember being a young gay boy dancing to her singles on the radio and being absolutely drawn to her for reasons I cannot explain. 40 years later she is still producing music, her "frozen" Sickick just hit the Billboard chart this week. Madonna is the one constant in my life and provided me with so much strength, encouragement and joy. its always nice to know a bit of context to fully appreciate each album, "Madonna" the first album is a culmination of 4 years of hard work when she famously moved to NYC with $37 in her pocket, she got her street cred as a starving artist, first as a dancer then as an singer, she lived in an abandoned Synagogue, posed nude for art students, worked in Dunkin' donut to make ends meet. she was raped at one point. but she persevered, this woman is DRIVEN, she knows who she is, what she wants and slowly learned the business by osmosis, she wrote most of the songs from her first album, she would record demos and peddle her demo cassette by befriending DJs in the new York club scene, that how she was discovered when she ask danceteria DJ Mark Kamins to play her song "Everybody". and Kamins knows some music executive from Sire records, and that's how she got signed to release that song as a single, after the minor success of that song in the dance chart, she was signed to do an album. The first album, emerged from the pop musical landscape in the early 80s of post disco, dance genre. Enjoy, can't wait for your reaction to her second album "Like a virgin"
OMG THIS INFO GAVE ME LIFE! Thank you so much!!! 😍😍😍😍 So glad you enjoyed my reaction too, especially being such a Madonna fan! 💕 I’m also so glad she’s been there for you throughout your entire life! Those type of musical connections are so rare 🥺🥺🥺
@@bennshouts I'm invested in your Madonna journey now, hahaha. I'll be here with each album. Ideally, I would love my into blurb, before each of your reaction video and not after as once again, context is everything and it will enhance your experience..lol Feel free to Facebook message me under my name 😀 yes, Facebook, not insta as I'm ancient. The Madonna album was not an overnight success.. It took over 10 months before anyone played her on mainstream and to pick up on it, then Game over... At the time there was Punk, Rock and disco had died mainstream.. Madonna approched it as Pop/dance/punk/disco with no shame...lol... When I was 13 in 1983 I was immediately enthrawled... Before I knew what Gay Icon was or what it is to be gay, she basically schooled all of us with utter unconditional LOVE.. That was revoltuionary and real, and unlike any artiste out there. Today we have what you call the aftermath. The artiste that has been influenced by her wether they admit or not, conciously or unconcously. The Madonna album was not the just the beginning of her career, but the beginning of Modern Pop Art in Music, Video, Film, Fashion etc.. She was a trailblazer in every medium {The Blue Print}... hence The Queen of Pop
I forget which famous music critic said it, but he said that you can basically divide female artists into two groups, BM (before Madonna) and AM (after Madonna) meaning she had such a huge influence on not only breaking the glass ceiling in a male dominated art form, but in how women musicians were influenced by her. Very few female artists after her can say they weren’t influenced by her… and a few have pretty brazenly tried to copy her as well.
*If you are going through her ENTIRE discography (including the soundtrack singles & one off singles of which she has tons that were huge hits!) then Im on board with your patreon! This is Madonna... The Queen of Pop... cutting corners is not permitted.* *(if ya need help with her body of work, let me know... I can let ya know EVERYTHING! been with her since the very beginning, 1st heard the album release when i was in junior high & never stopped following her... 40 freakin years... ugh Im getting old.)* *the singles off this album were Everybody, Holiday, Burning Up, Lucky Star & the biggest hit off the album, Borderline.* *as far as the length of the tracks, ya gotta remember this was 1983. Disco was done. Dance music was not in fashion for the most part in the US. Madonna brought dance pop back in vogue (hint). anyway the songs were longer purposely so they could literally play the album cuts in the clubs as is. 'remixes' werent a big thing back then, so she & her producers made sure they could keep bodies on the dance floor by extending the tracks. plus it was the 80s... everything in excess! (& you listened to the remastered version which has a few songs extended even more.)* *& if youre interested, this is a REALLY great article summarizing this album & it's far reaching successes: **www.thisisdig.com/feature/madonna-self-titled-debut-album/* *Joining patreon today. **_dont let me down._* 😉

@@bennshouts "Ryan" better remember songs like Youll See, ill Remember, Vogue (duh), Into The Groove, One More Chance, This Used To Be My Playground, Causing A Commotion etc... some of her most iconic 'non album' & 'soundtrack' hits... or i _will_ have to hunt him down. 🧐

Confidence is what she gives ! Physical Attraction is a Vibe and Amazing ! Too bad you didn’t get it but glad you liked most of it. Queen Madonna has no fear and was the ‘It Gurrl ‘ forever . Always imitated, never duplicated. Yes, no one else came out with such a force like her. 💜👑💜👑💜
Loving this journey.. Madonna evolved into an incredible performance and visual artist alongside the musical artist.. She, blew up with her video work... Maybe watch the videos on the journey see her development.. Borderline and Holiday are my favourites here but I got to admit I have a sweet spot for Physical Attraction but I think it's of a time.. Loving your energy. You are in for quite a ride.. So are we..
im a 48 and her songs have been my life soundtract;;;;;;;;they said she was a 1 hit wonder lolllllll shes celebrating 40 years of her Career lolllll whos Happy now ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ u r awesome Thank u
The songs on her first album were very long and with repeating parts because they were initially intended to be played mostly in the clubs and dance stations but you can find edits like the video versions and radio edits that came after and eliminated the repetitive parts
Madonna journey? I'm here for all of it. First heard Lucky Star and thought she was a black singer (most people did), but then the video came out and she was some street kid, and she showed her belly button which was talked about as a bit scandalous (if you can imagine now, lol). What is most fascinating about her is that she wanted stardom unapologetically and went after it with a work ethic that would fell mere mortals. Combined with absolute fearlessness for decades (Erotica and Like A Prayer) and she was an incredible role model and provocateur. Not afraid, to say the least, to take on societal norms or the church. You have no idea what is about to come. She changed pop culture forever, and entertained us all along the way.
In the 80’s when she started in 1983 I was only 10 so I only knew her singles, the first album of hers I bought was Erotica then I was hooked on her stuff from 1992 onwards. I’ve seen alot of reactions on UA-cam of her stuff upto 1990, I can safely say she made the best calculated decision and released the best songs as singles. But from Erotica onwards there were alot more songs that could of been singles in my eyes.
Born in 78, in France , madonna was like a ouragan 🌀 in France ^^ so new so fresh . And very emancipated for girls . Madonna was a very feminist all around the world . She help girls and gays .
Her first four albums have great hits but not always the best deep album cuts, but from Erotica to Music, the albums are very cohesive and basically masterpieces. Erotica is the best!
@@bennshouts I can not wait for you to react to it Matey! 😃 well you can always skip the other albums until later and go to Erotica album, Music album, American Life album and Confessions On The DanceFloor.
When you start listening to Madonna you can't stop, each album is different from each other, it's a wonderful journey. Hey boy I love your reactions!!!
I like all the songs off this album, but my favorites are Burning Up, Holiday, Physical Attraction and Borderline. I enjoy your honest reviews and looking forward to more Madonna! Thanks for posting! ✌🏻🙂✌🏻
This album has sold 9.6m worldwide. The singles and US chart rankings were: Everybody #3 dance chart Burning Up #3 dance chart Holiday #16 / #1 dance chart Lucky Star #4 / #1 dance chart Borderline #10 / #4 dance chart
Loved your reaction vids! You unfortunately listed to a mix of extended versions and other version rather than the original Lp. This holiday version is from her first greatest hits album, The Immaculate Collection, the original is far better, imo. That cow bell you picked up on was her actually playing it 👏🏼 Think of Me and Burning Up are my favs
Yes, you must be listening to the remastered version as the original release was not the same, even I was confused. This was at the tail end of Disco basically. But again, the original album, the songs sound different with the remixes. Your enthusiasm has easily made you one of my top reactors to madonna’s discography.
I know it...just the best. Takes me back to my teenage years. Look up gambler. Great song and early doors. Thanks for the memories. At some point try to watch her in concert. She is the trailblazer and iconic. Amazing shows.
It's incredible how fresh this album still sounds today - 40 years later! Iconic! It's my favorite of her albums. Must join Patreon to see full reaction!
I’ve just discovered you and have to say I really like your reaction. I’m a huge Madonna fan and have followed her since 1983. This album is classic M.
Great reaction! This was my very first album that I ever got (on cassette for my birthday) and I played it to absolute death. I was 9 years old when it came out! You need to watch the video clips for each of the singles as well because her video clips along with her music were the things that defined her e.g. in the Burning Up video the was writhing around on the floor bending over backwards to those lyrics you like which was very risque for that time haha. And instantly every young girl started dressing like Madonna. Side note: Madonna was the 2nd most photographed woman in the world behind only Princess Diana. She was MASSIVE!
I am sooooo excited you are reacting to Madonna. And becoming a fan. You will love the journey and I’m sure you will hear some of her big hits along the way that you may of not known that Madonna had sung it! Even tho you say you do t like disco her disco inspired album confessions Is regarded to be in her top 3 greatest albums of her career and was a huge hit in 2005/6 so you have to react to it. Also don’t forget to react to I’m breathless from 1990 which by many Madonna fans is a studio album
@@bennshouts honestly you will. It has disco elements but it is more a dance albums you must listen to the non stop DJ mix tho to get the full experience
My favorite Madonna albums are Erotica, Ray Of Light, Music, American Life, Confessions On a Dancefloor, Like A Prayer, MDNA (deluxe version only), Rebel Heart (deluxe version only), Madame X (Deluxe version only), Hard Candy. Those are my absolute favorites
*Borderline* is definitely in my Top 5 Favourite Madonna Songs *Little Star* from Ray of Light is also among that and the other 3 are songs you've yet to hear :)
I prefer the album with the original versions. These extended versions are a bit too long. Same thing will happen with the True Blue album, make sure you listen to the original version.
Ok just watched it for the second time. Your reactions bring me so much joy. You clearly have a great knowledge of music and you notice every detail. Number one tip with these reactions - keep doing what you are doing. Always be brutally honest about what you like and don’t like. Madonna fans like me watch you because we want your honest experience of the music all this time later. SONG LENGTH THAT NEEDS TO BE CLEARED UP One of the disadvantages of Spotify is that there are a few albums in her career where they put the dance mixes in the album track listings and not the original song that was released with the album. As soon as you can please either listen to these versions that were released on the album or even make a follow up video Here are the originals that were on the album Lucky Star - ua-cam.com/video/JNmFMMzcNN0/v-deo.html Borderline original album version (what you listened to was a dance remix) ua-cam.com/video/nYkxGetTWZw/v-deo.html (Cuts 1.40 seconds off what you listened to) Holiday. - this was the worst. The version you listened to was a remixed edited version for a greatest hits collection in 1990. This version. Takes away all the funk and rawness of the original. Please please please listen to this. It’s still 6 minutes but a much more superior song ua-cam.com/video/zzacLH7DC7E/v-deo.html Important thing to note. Madonna could not get a recording contract. She was signed to a record company for 2 dance singles. A lot of why these songs were repetitive is that a 12 inch single which is what many of these songs were. Were 6 minutes and that’s what the DJ had. I think one thing that’s really important is that this is 40 years ago. So there are cultural differences. I was 13 in 1986 when I heard this album. I love her raw vocals. I feel like you can feel her soul and her emotions in this record. It’s also very female positive which in 1983 was very different today. I think her vocals are the stand out in this album. But think for a second how much her voice had improved by what you listened to on Ray of Lifht. The one thing I suggest and I don’t know what you think of this. Madonna is an artist who is like s as visual painter. Many times the visual image is as important as the music. Wonder if you so a video reaction after you’ve been through the discography. My list Burning Up - Ultimate slut song Holiday - wait until you listen to the original. So much better Lucky Star - obsessed and the video is everything and very iconic. Borderline. - never loved this until she reworked it in 2016 and did a more gospel version of it. Agree with you about Think of Me Ok - the difference in the sound production and quality. Everybody was the first single. Burning Up and Physical attraction were a double A side 12 inch. Then the company agreed to do an album and bring in Reggie Lucas. That’s why you here there differences. Over time this album ranks high in her catalogue because of how great the sounds on repeated listens are. The only reason I’m on Patreon is to be on this journey with you. Last point - from Ray of Lighf did you notice the difference in her voice? It’s so raw here and I say also quite soulful. You have earned your place in the Madonna community. Love you and happy Easter from Sydney. Adore you
Madonna first album was released in 1983!! It sold 10 million albums worldwide and had huge hits in holiday, lucky star and borderline!! Lucky star and borderline peaked at No.4 and no.10 in the USA. In Australia holiday peaked at No.4 and burning up was her first chart hit worldwide peaking at No.13 on the aria charts
LOVE that you will go through chronological journey!! I would say this and Like a Virgin are my least favorite albums of her. Waiting till you reach True Blue🤭
What a reaction vid... Love your work! Have you checked out any of Melanie C's solo albums? Northern Star, The Sea or her latest Melanie C self-titled are the best. The Sea is absolutely underrated. Should give it a listen if you haven't already! :)
liked your review and your refreshing honesty compared to other reactors who love everything including the crap a artist puts out lol but its true some disco is crap like the song disco duck but theres some absolutely phenomenal songs like best of my love by the emotions, got to be real by cheryl lynn and dim all the lights by donna summer. you gotta give it a chance because youre missing out on some of the best dance music of all time.
Holiday was the first ever Madonna song I heard. I thought it was good and fun and I, too, thought she was a black artist. But my universe was rocked when my oldest brother bought the record and it was my first listen to the entire album. With each song I was edged to an orgasmic state of bliss. To this day this album remains my favorite of hers. The energy, the rawness, the album cover. There was a spark that I had never felt with album or artist at that time or not much since. Think of Me is my favorite. Haha. I love that you're honest about songs you don't connect with. Keen👍. (My word of the month--or for the entire deep dive). You will discover that not every song of hers is listenable; there are some pretty cringy ones. Can't wait to see your reaction to those. 😂

So glad you enjoyed my reaction too, especially being such a Madonna fan! 💕 I’m also so glad she’s been there for you throughout your entire life! Those type of musical connections are so rare 🥺🥺🥺
@@bennshouts I'm invested in your Madonna journey now, hahaha. I'll be here with each album. Ideally, I would love my into blurb, before each of your reaction video and not after as once again, context is everything and it will enhance your experience..lol
Feel free to Facebook message me under my name 😀 yes, Facebook, not insta as I'm ancient. Hahaha
@@graphiquejack Susan Sarandon
"The history of women in popular music can, pretty much, be divided into before and after Madonna."
Wow! Loved reading all this! Thank you!!!
Let the journey begin ❤️
😍😍😍
*If you are going through her ENTIRE discography (including the soundtrack singles & one off singles of which she has tons that were huge hits!) then Im on board with your patreon! This is Madonna... The Queen of Pop... cutting corners is not permitted.*
*(if ya need help with her body of work, let me know... I can let ya know EVERYTHING! been with her since the very beginning, 1st heard the album release when i was in junior high & never stopped following her... 40 freakin years... ugh Im getting old.)*
*the singles off this album were Everybody, Holiday, Burning Up, Lucky Star & the biggest hit off the album, Borderline.*
*as far as the length of the tracks, ya gotta remember this was 1983. (& you listened to the remastered version which has a few songs extended even more.)*
*& if youre interested, this is a REALLY great article summarizing this album & it's far reaching successes: **www.thisisdig.com/feature/madonna-self-titled-debut-album/*
*Joining patreon today. **_dont let me down._* 😉
Ryan’s guiding the journey! I think we may just be sticking to albums at this stage!
Loved all this information though! Thank you! Makes so much sense! I’m going to make sure I listen to the original and not remasters moving forward - hate that they change things 😢
Will check out the vid too! Thank you!!
Love that you appreciate I Know It. Such a catchy song. Burning up & I Know It are my favorites. Love the whole album, the other releases are classic
YESSSS so good!!!
I've binged watched your Madonna videos. As a huge fan it's nice to see a review series that's genuine and not over the top and genuine. Can't wait for moren
Aww thank you! This meant a lot ❤️
I agree physical attraction is one of my favs
Keep them coming 😊
💝💝💝
"i like her whispering..." oh boy, erotica was made for you
Hahahaa yessssss
My name is Dita… I’ll be your mistress tonight…
Please don’t skip over Confessions on a dance floor! Yes there’s a disco vibe there’s SO much more!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Okay! 💞💞💞
@@bennshouts it’s actually not disco at all, it’s a dance album. You’ll see.
Madonna is credited as Cowbelle on her first album under Musicians. I still have my vinyl copy.
I love "Think of me"❤️
Loving this journey.. So are we..
Thank you!! Cannot wait!! ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Definitely one of my Top 20 Go-To Albums when I need that vintage reset! Love that shirt btw. Another one of my Top 20's as well 😊❤
Yessss! Can’t get over the first 5 songs! Bangers!!!
im a 48 and her songs have been my life soundtract;;;;;;;;they said she was a 1 hit wonder lolllllll shes celebrating 40 years of her Career lolllll whos Happy now ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ u r awesome Thank u
Thank YOU!!!
The songs on her first album were very long and with repeating parts because they were initially intended to be played mostly in the clubs and dance stations but you can find edits like the video versions and radio edits that came after and eliminated the repetitive parts
You can even go further back beyond this album to hear her very first songs
I’m so excited for you to hear all her other albums!!!!!!!
Your reaction to Burning Up was amazing!!!! Love from chicago!
hehe thank you!!!
Yes, very exciting. Love to hear your reaction.
💞💞💞
This was the album I fell in love with Madonna as a 12 year boy, grown up with her pushing all the boundaries for the stars of today
Awesome!! More Madonna, please!! :)
Yesssss!
EROTICA next :) You'll love it !!
So keen for it!
Holiday never gets hold, a classic !
LEGIT THO!
Ooohh! Now i love Madonna more than before!. She is amazing!. What a artist and woman!
Yasssss
I love Borderline but geez that extended mix pushes me over the borderline.
Confessions is really not a "disco" i think it's more electro-pop inspired by alot of disco. i really hope u don't skip it cuz it's a MASSIVE serve.
Okay! I’m more keen now hahaha
One of her best albums! And the Confessions tour is epic!
It’s a continuous flow like a DJ set
I’ve been to almost every tour she has put on
In the 80’s when she started in 1983 I was only 10 so I only knew her singles, the first album of hers I bought was Erotica then I was hooked on her stuff from 1992 onwards.
I am so keen for Erotica!!!
Whoo great video! Can't wait for more down the line
Thank you!!!
When you start listening to Madonna you can't stop, each album is different from each other, it's a wonderful journey. Hey boy I love your reactions!!!
Thank YOU!!! 💙💙💙💙
I prefer the original cuts of borderline and holiday (the piano break!!), but this album is a firm favourite and has been one for a few decades now!
You should react to her live performance of "Everybody" at the Girlie Show Tour Live Down Under. The whole show was iconic!
Girlie Show, Drowned World, Re-Invention, Sticky & Sweet, Confessions and Blonde Ambition(Nice France) are my favorite tours
Yessss! The Spice Girls T-shirt!!! that's great!
😍😍😍
Pop/dance/disco/r&b colliding...perfect debut, you can hear the hunger and the pure talent 🙌
I like all the songs off this album, but my favorites are Burning Up, Holiday, Physical Attraction and Borderline. I enjoy your honest reviews and looking forward to more Madonna! Thanks for posting!
✌🏻🙂✌🏻
Thank YOU for being so kind 💙
Lucky Star,,,,, Borderline,,,,,, Burning Up,,,,, Holiday,,,,,Everybody,,,,were the huge Hits ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I usually only listen to the immaculate collection version of the singles, they're shorter.
Madonna's first album was a club record. Club songs tend to be long and repetitive. I enjoyed the reaction. Looking forward to more.
This album has sold 9.6m worldwide. The singles and US chart rankings were:
Everybody #3 dance chart
Burning Up #3 dance chart
Holiday #16 / #1 dance chart
Lucky Star #4 / #1 dance chart
Borderline #10 / #4 dance chart
Loved your reaction vids! You unfortunately listed to a mix of extended versions and other version rather than the original Lp. This holiday version is from her first greatest hits album, The Immaculate Collection, the original is far better, imo. That cow bell you picked up on was her actually playing it 👏🏼 Think of Me and Burning Up are my favs
So annoyed that they don't list what songs are what on streaming services >:(
I just love Madonna
Yes, you must be listening to the remastered version as the original release was not the same, even I was confused. This was at the tail end of Disco basically. But again, the original album, the songs sound different with the remixes. Your enthusiasm has easily made you one of my top reactors to madonna’s discography.
Present and ready.
😍😍😍
I know it...just the best. Takes me back to my teenage years. Look up gambler. Great song and early doors. Thanks for the memories. At some point try to watch her in concert. She is the trailblazer and iconic. Amazing shows.
It's incredible how fresh this album still sounds today - 40 years later! Iconic! It's my favorite of her albums. Must join Patreon to see full reaction!
Thank YOU!!!!
I’ve just discovered you and have to say I really like your reaction. I’m a huge Madonna fan and have followed her since 1983. This album is classic M.
Thank you so much!!! 💘💘
Yesss, I cannot wait and yep I won't miss Confessions, I'm hoping I like it! HAHA!
Awesome reaction! This album is an incredible introduction for the Queen!
sweet benn! "Erotica" Please! my fave album of madonna!
Yessss, will get to Erotica! So keen for it! And yes hahahaa bjork too 💕💕
this journey is going to be so fun! thanks!
Hehe can’t wait! 😋
I love primitive Maddona. especially when she performed at Danceteria.
*Borderline* is definitely in my Top 5 Favourite Madonna Songs
*Little Star* from Ray of Light is also among that and the other 3 are songs you've yet to hear :)
I prefer the album with the original versions. These extended versions are a bit too long. Same thing will happen with the True Blue album, make sure you listen to the original version.
Agreed

plz consider do Mariah's discography next 🥺
More Madonna!!!
Thanks 🙏
💙💙
Ok just watched it for the second time. Your reactions bring me so much joy. You clearly have a great knowledge of music and you notice every detail.
Number one tip with these reactions - keep doing what you are doing. Always be brutally honest about what you like and don’t like. Madonna fans like me watch you because we want your honest experience of the music all this time later.
SONG LENGTH THAT NEEDS TO BE CLEARED UP
One of the disadvantages of Spotify is that there are a few albums in her career where they put the dance mixes in the album track listings and not the original song that was released with the album.
As soon as you can please either listen to these versions that were released on the album or even make a follow up video
Here are the originals that were on the album
Lucky Star - ua-cam.com/video/JNmFMMzcNN0/v-deo.html
Borderline original album version (what you listened to was a dance remix)
ua-cam.com/video/nYkxGetTWZw/v-deo.html
(Cuts 1.40 seconds off what you listened to)
Holiday. - this was the worst. The version you listened to was a remixed edited version for a greatest hits collection in 1990.
This version. Takes away all the funk and rawness of the original. Please please please listen to this.
It’s still 6 minutes but a much more superior song
ua-cam.com/video/zzacLH7DC7E/v-deo.html
Important thing to note.
My list
Burning Up - Ultimate slut song
Holiday - wait until you listen to the original. So much better
Lucky Star - obsessed and the video is everything and very iconic.
Borderline. - never loved this until she reworked it in 2016 and did a more gospel version of it.
Agree with you about Think of Me
Ok - the difference in the sound production and quality.
Adore you
her discography from the 80s to 2000s is incredible
Madonna first album was released in 1983!! It sold 10 million albums worldwide and had huge hits in holiday, lucky star and borderline!! Lucky star and borderline peaked at No.4 and no.10 in the USA. In Australia holiday peaked at No.4 and burning up was her first chart hit worldwide peaking at No.13 on the aria charts
ICONIC!!!
OMG!! Madonna is amazing!!!
love the mullet and t shirt, SPICE GIRLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Omg yes, please react to Who's That Girl, I'm Breathless and Evita please 🙏🏻.
Think of me is my favourite I love it
LOVE that you will go through chronological journey!! I would say this and Like a Virgin are my least favorite albums of her. Waiting till you reach True Blue🤭
Cannot wait!!!
Ahhhhh I already know I will love this!
What a reaction vid... Love your work!
Have you checked out any of Melanie C's solo albums? Northern Star, The Sea or her latest Melanie C self-titled are the best. The Sea is absolutely underrated. Should give it a listen if you haven't already! :)
Disco is the funk , pew pew bass thanks the to dancing gods, thunder and lightening, knock on wood Ami Stewart , we like wood
The Queen Madonna!
I like it when you laugh ❤️
Hehe thank you!!
no one did leave the dance floor 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
liked your review and your refreshing honesty compared to other reactors who love everything including the crap a artist puts out lol but its true some disco is crap like the song disco duck but theres some absolutely phenomenal songs like best of my love by the emotions, got to be real by cheryl lynn and dim all the lights by donna summer. you gotta give it a chance because youre missing out on some of the best dance music of all time.
Physical Attraction is The One! Give it another try sometime
Everybody is not disco! It's synth funky pop song!
Idk if you take UA-cam suggestions but I suggest Elitas ‘Sick Girl’
Think of me is my fave lol!
Hahaha yasssss
amazing reaction!! ethel cain released another song titled "strangers" that i think you'll love the story behind so it would be great if you reacted!
Thank you!!
Gonna wait for her album now 🥰
Physical Attraction is my favorite.
How can you not like disco? It’s like the best genre of all time
🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@@bennshouts I don’t think you know proper disco. I feel like you would love real disco. It’s so good!
These aren’t the original album cuts which are shorter, so if the critique is some songs are too long, it’s because they are extended mixes. :)
