On Saturday, November 15, 2014 PathMakers to Peace honored Noam Chomsky and 30 years of Brooklyn For Peace. The reception and gala dinner was held at the historic Plymouth Church in Brooklyn Heights in NYC.
Noam Chomsky describes how John Quincy Adams over 200 years ago described the US as a dangerous Nation to anybody nearby or within our reach. Noam discusses the US as a very frightened Country defending what we believe we own which he refers to as the world!!.
Noam talks about the triangle between Israel-Palestine and the US and how the US stands alone backing Israel’s illegal encroachment into the west bank as long as you and I allow it.
He finally talks about the situation in Iran, giving us an historical context of the US interfering with the affairs of Iran going back the US sponsored coup in in Iran the 1950’s. He looks at the recent nuclear negotiations for the last 20 years where the US encourages nuclear proliferation in the area to our allies who often change. He speaks of the constant US view of Iran being the world’s greatest enemy to peace with the sad joke that often the world sees the US in the same light.
