That's awesome, I have a similar design in mind for when I get the chance to start forging. It's something I've really been wanting to do for a long time now ever since I forged I chipping hammer in my welding class.
this really makes me want to try all this out, since lawnmower blades get thrown away all the time and such. Just wish I had a place I could do it though, about the only thing holding me back from trying.
Very nice build man very nice than the other one but I also got some knifemaker advice for you you should try using a big circular saw blade that they would use for table saws I use those a couple of times and they're very easy to work with
Great build! The only thing you have to watch out for though is when you were putting those extra hammer marks in. If you do that while the steel is cold it can actually make it far more likely to crack in the quench. Anyways, hope this helps! Great build! :D
Is that crack you're talking about before or after a quench, as in you'll create microfractures that will form and Crack when quenched or as you're hammering? I'm a novice and this will be my first project, so I apologize if this is a silly question
You've done a great job ! I love the profile of the knife, but not so much the handle Maybe a paracord wrap would have been another option ? Also you can rough grind the bevels with your angle grinder and then flatten them and clean them on the belt grindee, it could save you a lot of time It's actually a bit easier to do an edge quench when the quenchant isn't moving, so that you can see and control where it has been quenched a bit easier Anyways, you've done a great job ;)
Hey love your videos and this one was no exception, lovely blade. I'm trying to get in to forging and knife making but have no experience. If you were starting from scratch again, what tools and materials would you want to have to begin?
You just earned a sub for the caution advise. You make it look pretty easy, but you actually know what you're doing.

This guy is the Binging With Babish of blacksmithing
It looks like a blade I would trust.
Timothy Crooker Thanks! I think handle could be better secured, but the blade is tough as nails for sure.
Good man 👏👍
Why do you quench in water? I thought that caused cracks.
patricia raney it can but it doesn’t have to. There are some steels that call for a water quench
That knife is gorgeous!

Hows the stab effect? I'm learning and wanting to make my own but I'm not so sure about the whole tip being not as long
For statisctics from Poland!
Filip Nuzban Hello and Welcome, I’m always surprised by the great variety of viewers from around the world.
That is a very unique tanto. I really like it!
you can start the bevels with the angle grinder and then go the belt to save some money..
politianos politis Yes, good point. 👍 the angle grinder is a great time and money saver.

tristan barnett Excellent idea. I have an 8 inch that I want to experiment with. Might try that in a video soon.

That’s beautiful work man keep it up
GuardedDig2 Thanks, my friend.
Very well made knife! I'm always impresses how awesome your knifes come out😊
Simon Koehler Wow , what a compliment-Thanks!
awesome build mate you should have a go at an epoxy resin handle if u make a knife thats supposed to look nice👌
Squidasaurus Indeed, I’ve seen some great handles done that way. One of my favorites was when GreenBeetle made scales with epoxy and bacon 😂
I made an knife just like that a day ago if I saw your video before I made it I probably would have changed my life a little bit more to be better
figured master of death Wow, sounds cool. Did you have video of it?
That’s a awesome knife and would love it lol
Incredible build! well done! please keep it up i love your work
King Omri Thanks! Will do. 👍
hey man can you do a video makeing a knife out of a old saw blade
Great build! The only thing you have to watch out for though is when you were putting those extra hammer marks in. If you do that while the steel is cold it can actually make it far more likely to crack in the quench. Anyways, hope this helps! Great build! :D
True, but that metal was pretty thick. Probably safe there.
Dylan Smith Hey, thanks for the tip, I’ll keep that in mind. 👍
Also you do have to keep in mind he did normalize the piece and that should undo any stress the steel was under for the quench
