The jiggers. Lived adjacent to the Motuhoura line years ago. Knew a railway ganger who worked the track past our house. Good guy, really friendly, often offered a ride, never took it up. Regret not accepting.
Oh goodness! I first learned about that line thanks to David Leitch & Brian Scotts' 1995 Ghost Railways book. In fact the cover has got the Motu River truss bridge on it.
Remember seeing these on the Stratford-Okahukura Line at Toko as a kid, remember the DCs going through there often
