      Sure, if you want to be shackled in debt. So glad I can fix my own and never pay more than 900 bucks for a good car. If I can do it anyone can. We go into debt to buy a hunk of metal that only goes down in value and only costs more money to keep it running. When today's cars break down people have no choice but to BLEED money. Just sayin'.

    Wow .. that is a ton of disassembly just to get to the radio head unit. My dad watched me change out the radio in my Saturn and asked me to replace the one in his Malibu since the CD player doesn't work. He's gonna freak out when he sees me taking apart half his dash. Now that I think about it, that might make all the extra work worth it.

      Maybe they did this to make it hard for people to break into the car and steal the radio. Otherwise just GM engineering doing it's thing.

    thanks for the video. it was not that hard to take it apart after watching the video. I did not need radio removed. just taking apart the vents to middle since my 3 year olds at the time thought it was a place to put all my loose change. 2007 Chevy...again, thanks for the video. it was not as bad as people are letting on in comments. tool apart and back in about 12 to 15 minutes.

    Thank you sooooooooo much for walking me through this. 💗💗 This is the second time the radio has to be serviced because of the cd part. The 1st time the dealer did under warranty. This time, thanks to you, I did it. Your awesome!

    only now you have to get a separate monitor for the trip, warnings, and other info because GM stupidly put it as part of that radio in the malibus and the G6 of that model year

    That stock stereo is the worst, my dad had a Pontiac g6 with the same stereo and it would never play cds, and cds would get stuck, now I own a 06 Chevy Malibu with this exact stereo, cds work but they get stuck.

    • @jarrodmartin8772
      @jarrodmartin8772 5 років тому

      They are very similar but the g6s is different lol. The screen on the Pontiac is smaller and the buttons are set up completely different. You also don't get all the same information on the g6s that you so on the Malibu

    I have an 07 my dash snapped in 3 pieces tryna get it out 😢so much for tryna be careful I swear this car gives me the biggest headache worst mechanical setup ever. And nope couldn’t run the ignition wire to the cig lighter line I’ve always done cuz it stays on constantly and causes the security like to stay on.😡🤬

    Dang they don't make it easy. I changed a radio on a dodge stratus once. it was so easy. just insert a special tool and it slides right out.

  • @EPA18

    Later Malibu models are easier. I have a 2006 Malibu, and once I saw this, I realized that I would need a professional to change the radio.

    if you still have the old radio you pulled out in this video could you put down the part numbers? my radio is eating the cds in my car and wont spit them out. looking to buy a new one same model so i can continue using my sensors (feul level, oil life %, trip miles, etc) or if anyone knows a good replacement that will allow me to use the same controls with a better unit, i would be an even happier person!

      I'm having the same problem, the damn thing doesn't even play. How tf am I going to replace this bullshit 😪

    • @craignuckles5378
      @craignuckles5378 7 років тому

      beatlebabe1969 I have since pulled my last cd out. The problem is something to do with the player itself. Maybe a short in the player. The arm that drops through the cd stopped going up and down. So when the cd tries to eject the arm is still caught in the cd center. The popping noises is the arm catching and throwing the cd back into place.

    • @beatlebabe1969

      Craig Nuckles that's exactly what it's doing. Can I fix it myself or do I have to buy a new one? It's my first car and fuck I'm broke lol

    • @craignuckles5378
      @craignuckles5378 7 років тому

      beatlebabe1969 well I haven't gotten that far myself. However I found the best way to get parts for any car is to go down to your local junk yard the ones around here are called pick and pull. Take your tools and go down to the junk yard near you and they will let you search for your make and model I their lot. If you find it you can take it out the car yourself. And pay them pennies on the dollar for it. My junk yard also has a refunds available if it doesn't work when you install it at home.

    • @craignuckles5378
      @craignuckles5378 7 років тому

      I think car radios are 25 bucks at my local junkyard. Much cheaper than buying this new. A new one is anywhere over $450 bucks.
