I still have a GTX 1060 6GB (MSI model) from years ago. I use it in one of my three rigs. Runs most of what I throw at it just fine with only a 120W max power draw. In my other two rigs I have RTX 3050 8GB at only 130W max power draw.
what do you think about the rx 560 xt
when does the new prebuilt pc drops? didnt you say october 2nd??
hey Zac, long time sub, 1st time commenter here, wondering if you'd help, bro
I've got a ryzen 7 5700x, RX 6700 xt, 32 GB of ram (4x8) and a550w PSU, is my PSU gonna be a problem?
Oh yh, my build has taken a year to slowly get all the parts and research, its cost me £450 to build, my GPU arrives this week
Any advice would be appreciated💯
Hey Zach, brand new ryzen 5 5600g pc or used pc with graphic card ? which one is better..
Just retired my 1070 for a 4070 yesterday. The 1070 really held up well for a long time.
Great upgrade!
@@dianaalyssa8726 Thanks! Got it open box for $430, it was a steal.
Gimme ur 1070!
Giant leap to the future 🔥
My 1070 also held up well! I recently bought a 4070 and i am still waiting for it to arrive in the mail. 1070 was a 1440p card back in the day, and in some titles it still is, like overwatch 2. 1070 can easily max out my 1440p 165hz monitor on low settings. I have seen benchmarks where 4070 can get 500fps+ on 1440p low, absolutely insane. Only bad thing is spending a lot of money on a new monitor lol.
Retired my old 1060 for a 4070ti a couple months back, I can’t lie that 10 series was just such a great series
Last December I built a i7-1300KF/RTX4080 system to replace my old i7-8700/GTX1080ti rig. While the new system is orders of magnitude above the old one, I have fond memories of how well the former PC served me for over 5 years. The 10X0 series was truly special.
Pascal has been an amazing generation. I gave my brother my original gaming pc with the i5 8600k + GTX 1070 as I built a completely new machine and he's loving it.
Very nice. Definitely a solid hookup for him!
@@ZachsTechTurfmy motherboard is so old i use GTX 1050 ti im planning to get 3050 rtx 6gb but it say gddr6 would it be compatible with my PC (HP elitedesk 800g1)
@@EmreTeOriginalas long as your pcie x16 graphics cards are backwards compatible and also instead of getting a 3050 youd get more value with the same price and also more power with a 6650xt
@@EmreTeOriginal HP elitedesk 800g1 comes with 4th gen intel cpu but which one i5 or i7, it its i5 i would say dont bother with getting rtx 3050 as it wont be able to utilise not even half of it

I just picked up a 1070 for $50 a few weeks ago. Such a great deal for that card. Incredible for 1080p and even some 1440p gaming.
Wow that's awesome value
1440p? maybe 2 fps
Hey may i ask you where did u get such a sweet deal cause i find 1070 at 120eurow and 1070ti at 160 euros
what for 50$, its like 800$ here and 1000$+ for 1080
@@dickedits simply not true
This is the first benchmarking video of you that I saw, and I'm just amazed by the amount of details that you manage to put in while making it simple and easy to understand. Great work!
Still have my GTX-1080 founders edition in my other Gaming PC. Works so well even to this day. When released It was way ahead of its time!
Just built one of your PCs today and its running amazing thanks Zac
I had exactly the same model of the GTX 1080, excellent card, a month ago I retired it for the RTX 4070, a big change, but the 1080 was sensational for 6 years
The Pascal cards were definitely pretty solid cards for their time, and still holding up pretty decent now as a result. Honestly, any of them other than the GTX 1050 and GT 1030 seem to have held up pretty well. Heck, people were even getting away with light gaming on 1030s for a short time, which is pretty impressive for a basic display card. Looks like the 1060 unsurprisingly is starting to fall behind. Might be ok for light gaming if you get one cheap enough, but the 1070 and 1080 are clearly coming out ahead for newer titles while the 1060 just struggles. I actually just upgraded from a similar performing card, RX 480 8gb. Still pretty good for some older titles in 1080p, but just doesn't compete with the newer more powerful cards in more current titles. My replacement card is actually an RTX 3060 I bought for $200. Saw some benchmarks of it compared to some other cards for around $250-300, which did come out a little better than the 3060, but costs a little more than what I paid. Honestly the only thing that made me regret paying $200 for my 3060 was picking up two more 3060s for $300 a couple weeks later. At $150 a pop, I think I'd take that over the 1070 or 1080 any day considering it comes out ahead in most titles, is gonna have better ray tracing performance, and will more than likely hold up better to newer titles as well. All 3 of them also happen to be 12gb models so running out of VRAM shouldn't be an issue for me with any of these cards.
Honestly Zach I missed these benchmark videos! Great to have them back, but I've a 1050Ti though still watching the vid.
Glad to hear it!
I moved from GTX 1070 ti to Rx 6700xt recently, The Pascal generation was amazing and it was still performing well, but I usually upgrade my PC every 3/4 years and it was about the time.
Holding on to my GTX 1080 Ti for FSR3 benchmarking. If they keep supporting 900 series 1000 series has at least 2-4 more years of driver support.
Haha very nice!
fsr 3 frame gen is only supported on rtx 2000 or later so i wouldn't get too excited
@@Djxxer they improved and still improving FSR3 from FSR2 and yes I know it GTX 1000 series won’t have Frame Gen just the next version of FSR2 which is FSR3
I retired my 1070ti for a 4070 in June. Served me well for 5 years and it's living in a spare setup with a relative still. Main reasons for upgrading were for streaming and prepping for 1440p gaming
Great to hear it lasted so long
You should try the rx 500 and 400 series too cuz those would be the cards used for budget builds
Was about to comment the same thing
Yep we might make those videos as well :)
I Just retired my RX570 8GB for a 1070
I’m actually very glad you made this video because about a month ago I got a MSI 1070 aero 8GB as my first gpu. I am extremely happy with it and am looking into getting a RX 6650 XT ASrock steel legend
No. Dont go for 6650 with 1070, get something better. There is no point in upgrading, if you dont receive massive gains.
I own 2 1080 tis and run them in SLI, they are probably the best GPU nvidia released other than the 8800. It still does everything I need it to in 3440x1440p@144hz
Great video. I still have my old Gainward GTX 1070 as a backup card, just in case.
VERY nice video. The 10 series was a great series of cards then Nvidia nerfed themselves. 1 more thing, the RX580 2048sp it is actually a 570 renamed, but if you go to TechPowerup and compare specs you will see itt is identical to the 570
Thanks :)
Huh. I never considered painting the corners like that. Excellent idea for future content.
I'm currently using a 1080 but I do plan on upgrading in the future
for an older gpu it's still great and i love it
Hey bud, love the videos!
Is their any way you can do this same review but with the two different 10 series titans?! That would be so bad ass!!
good stuff man, i recently upgraded from a gtx 650 to a 1070 after using it since 2014 lmao. was able to run 144hz on csgo with 650 but since cs2 came out i needed an upgrade asap, very happy with it.
Same here… from gtx 660 to 1070 since my mobo only supports up to that card.
660 served me well since 2011 😅
Still rocking my gtx 1070 fe. Considering adding another in sli config. Whilst most games don't support sli, i use it mainly for playing with ai/vr etc. It should give me another couple of years life before upgrading the whole rig. When i bought the 1070 i told my boss it would last 10years and it might just do that.
Still have a 1060 handy, it's a spare but was okay for 1080P mostly.
thanks for the video!!!!
I'm still running my 4770k with a 1080 (upgraded from a 760) on dual 1440 monitors. I've felt for a long time that my CPU was holding it back since I get A LOT of stuttering and freeze frames. I bet I can still extend it's life until the 5k series comes out if I upgrade to a budget build.
I don't know if you upgraded yet, but I can definately say that changing from my i7-3770k to a Ryzen R5 5600X was a massive boost. I'm not sure how the 4770 is against the 3770, but definately CPUs have come a long way.
Just got a MSI 1080ti for $80 off of Marketplace and paired it with an i7-11700 and this Dad is GAMING! Consoles for 25 years and now 1440p, it’s a WHOLE. NEW. WORLD.
So glad I got it cheap, it worked, and it’s an absolute legend of a gpu.
Awesome to hear fellow Dad!
@@ZachsTechTurf haha appreciate it, and appreciate the knowledge. Gamer Dad out, ranked is calling.
A 1080ti is like a 57 Chevy. Never sell those babies.
You stole that thing. I have a 1080ti and a 4090. They perform basically the same on 95% of all games out there.
@@user-sw9qx3rl7z hmm not sure if you were trying to make a joke or its something else
I'm still using i5-8400 and 1060 6gb since june 2018.
Surely they started to struggle but they can play ANY game on 1080p lowest setting at solid 60fps
Can I ask what GPU was in the PC with purple fans? Mainly what model because I'd LOVE that GPU for my black and purple build
Still using the 1080 from 2017 with an I5 13600k. Still holding up really well, helldivers 2 on ultra 2560x1080 with solid 60fps. Probably time to upgrade in the next 2-3 years
Wow, I was thinking about upgrading my sons PC when this video came up! I am so grateful that he used AAA games rather than CS Go. Great video
Retired my Asus ROG strix 1080 ti last month. Kept it. Still love it...
I’m glad to see someone using ARK as a benchmark as this was the game I was specifically buying a GPU for a few years ago
Let's appreciate the fact that he used Starfield music in between the slides 🙂
Yes, thank you for noticing :)
Just upgraded from a 1070 to a 4070 super. It’s crazy how long that card held up.
Planning on building a portable mini itx build with my old 1070 💪
I got a new rig for myself for Xmas with an RTX 3060, replacing my old system that has a 1060Ti in it. It's nice being able to play everything on high in 1080p. My old system could barely run Far Cry 6 potato settings. It looks great on my new rig, though.
I got a screaming deal on a Gtx 1080 this last month, only $60 and it works perfectly. Good n’ cheap upgrade from my 1660
Wow that's a great deal
I'm still rocking my 1080 rig i built 6 yrs ago runs great for 1080p gaming. Just ordered a new pc so I can start enjoying 2k/4k
It still capable of 2k on older games
Zach you gotta do a low budget blue pc build using the blue sapphire NITRO+ 8gb rx 580, its one of the prettiest graphics cards ive seen in a while.
Just picked up a cheap 1070 for a build for the little bro, will be fine for his 1080p needs for a while
I have rx 580 and im getting close performance to 1070, theroic perf is same 1060 but nowadays its between 1060 and 1070. In cod mw2 rx 580 so close 1070 at basic settings and if you play it on ultra or extreme settings you will see the similar performance :D 1070 or 1660 super might be choice for 90 bucks but if you have 60 bucks for it you should get rx 580 or 590. Good video btw we want more with old gpu videos thanks.
I was a 1050 ti user for around 7 years (just upgraded to a 6700 xt when i replaced my laptop for a desktop) it still holds up for medium gaming. but it was reaching the end of usefulness.
Hey @ zach's tech turf,What should i pick intel arc ,6600,or 6650 for ryzen 5 5600
Do you recommend AMD for content creation like
Gaming video using OBS and video editing??
Not streaming plzz let me know
I'm struggling 😭
For frame rates, wouldn't it be better - though more expensive - to just go for a run out RX 6600 or RX 6650XT?
the 1080 was such a beast, i finally upgraded to a 3080 a while ago, and while the performance increase was impressive it was even more impressive how well the 1080 held up all this time
I got a used 1080 as a gift from a friend and I love it. It’s just a little louder than I expected.
Just upgraded from my long performing 1060 to a 3060Ti, Kinda sad cos I've used it for so long, but the 1060 gave me exactly what I wanted out of it for years, RIP :(
Can you please test the Rx 5700 XT in these times so I can see what GPU I should get
My brother has a 1070 paired with a ryzen 2800x on a pcie 3 platform. Which GPU should I suggest he upgrade too without changing out the cpu?
1:00 AM, nice video bud.
🤨
i moved from 2060s to 4070 ti, 2060s was such a good card for almost 4 years, but this started to struggle even on 1080p, when i moved to 4070 ti there was such a huge jump especially in rt native performance, and 12GB is more than enough for 1080p and 1440p, since even new games use 2 to 3GB, sometimes 4 to 6GB of dedicated vram, but i dont think so games this generation even with rt wont surpass 9GB and with no rt, they wont surpass 4GB
I can tell you my 1080 was not doing well on newer games at this point, but it served me well till I got a 4090 last September
Today I upgraded from a 1070 to 7900xt and I’m so happy with it😊
I just retired my GTX 1070 that I had since 2017. It was my first ever PC that I built along with i7 7700k.
Just built a pc with 6900xt and a second one for my college dorm with 6800xt. One with 12600k and second with 12400f. Safe to say that the jump from 1080p low to 1440p ultra has been incredible.
Ohhh broo incredible upgrade
Nice upgrade but the 12400f might bottleneck both of the GPUs just as a heads up
@@Emerz11111 12600k is fine with 6900xt but you are right about the 12400f. Most of the games were perfectly fine though even with 6900xt. I only foudn 2 examples where it was really bad and that is Cyberpunk where my GPU usage would randomly drop to 40% (solved by lowering crowd density to medium now it stick to 98%) and then Spiderman where basically same stuff happened - FPS drops from like 120FPS to 70 (not end of the world but it was annoying a bit). It is kind of a budget build tho, got the 12400f with a decent mobo for 200 bucks new.
@@valdy534LP Yeah if you were able to score a good deal on that combo I think its totally fine but I think you could've saved even a bit more money for a better upgrade path for your GPU and CPU.
Nice man! I literally have the same setup as your old one i7 7700k & GTX 1070 it is amazing for its age.
I'm thinking of upgrading to a RX 7800 XT and i5 13400F.
How much better does the new setup run?
I had an Airtop 2 with a passively-cooled GTX 1060, and it did everything I cared about. If the bespoke motherboard on that PC hadn't eaten shit I'd still be using it to this day.
Still using my 1080ti, think it's worth upgrading to a 4080 once it comes down in price?
rocking that starfield music
i upgraded from a GTX 1650 to RTX 4070. The 1650 despite being a budget gpu in 2019 if im not mistaken, did hold up well but not without some compromises. Still worked fine for most games i played but i really wanted to have a pc capable of playing games at max settings and the 4070 delivers very well
1080 ti to 3070 ti, then sold 3070 ti for 360 eur, bought the 6800 xt for 400 eur instead because of the 16gb of vram.
I still have the 1080 ti with my r5 5600, also rx 580 and i7 3770, r5 5600x with rx 5700 non xt, i5 2320 with 280x, q8400 with gt 740 and finally the i7 3930k with gtx 1070 for VR, Quad-channel ddr3.
I just upgraded my 1080ti to 7800XT. It was a trusty workhorse for many years, but in newer games it started losing steam so I finally pulled the trigger. I'll still keep it in my home server for occasional CUDA tasks. I recently took part in a cybersec CTF so I had hashcat ready to go. 1080ti+CUDA still beat the 7800XT+openCL by about 20-30%. Obviously in gaming it's not even a contest, the 7800XT wins by a wide margin.
Me still rocking the 1050 ti and it working great
still using a gtx 1060, but sure is struggling in cyberpunk. Considering upgrading to the rx 6700xt soon
I'm still running a 6G 1060........I bought it 2nd hand about 6 years ago for £100 because it had a broken fan.
It's been a fantastic card. I only sim race, but I only race in VR..........It's run a Rift CV1, Acer WMR, Rift S, Quest and now Quest 2.........It's struggling now with the Quest 2. I have to tweak the life out of everything to get around 72 fps, and I'm looking for a 5700/6700 xt for a decent price to upgrade.
But I'm gonna pass this onto youngest son, and I'm confident we'll get a few more years yet.
recently bought the gtx 1080 for $110 on ebay, which is cheaper than the 1060 I bought about a year ago. works well with a 7700k in gaming and light video editing.
I just bought one on ebay too. upgrading from 1650.
I had my Gtx1060 6 Gb since the dawn of time but last year i decided to invest in a new graphics card. Got myself an Rx7800xt. And damn i hope it last as long as my faithful 1060
Something is very off here. I have a laptop that has a GTX 1060 with Max-Q design, with a Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630, and a 8th gen i5-8300H CPU. But I can barely play any of the games you say I can play at 60fps, though my max is 30fps. Do you see how that doesn't add up? Is the CPU? I have 8gb ram, do I need more?
As you're always recommending the 5 3600+5700xt, how bad of a bottleneck would you run into with a 6700xt ?
I switched my 1660 ti to a 4090. When my 6 hour render took 20 mins
Is the Zotac AMP Extreme GeForce GTX 1080 8 GB Video Card still a good GPU to use?
Still got that gtx1050 the amount of work that goes into making this thing work in current games is quite high
I have a gtx 1050 ti, it has been working for years, but now it is very bad. I'm trying to upgrade to an RX 7800 XT or RTX 4070, but I have an i5-10600KF and I'm afraid it will have a lot of bottleneck, so I'm not sure which gpu to upgrade to ;(
I have a GTX 1060 6GB Strix 3 fan in my pc still. It's still a decent card. I bought an RX6750XT. I just haven't installed it yet.
Yo man if you send it to me I’ll install it for you 😉
@@xXSkLzPrOXx 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey Zach, I have a question hopefully you can answer this. But I was wondering if $210 was a good deal for a XFX 6650 xt from eBay brand new ?
just replaced my 1050ti with a 6650xt at the start of this year it served me well
6:13 I would say re4 is one of the few new titles worth paying for. Had a blast and it was actually a stable experience with no bugs on my play through though it does go on sale a good amount every now and then
Obviously not for just checking out benchmarks, I mean more for playing
yo i have a gtx 1070ti i play at 1080p but i dont even get close to 300 fps in valorant.... any help? or why is that? (i have a ryzen 5 1600af, 16gb 3600mhz)
Compared to 1070, 1660 super or 1660 ti would only require 120 watts of power. So, people with 450W builds actually can go with this instead of worrying if your PSU can handle 1070 or not.😊
Indeed. He should mention the lower power draw of 1660 Super/Ti too
does the cyberpunk low preset use FSR?
I have a 1070 but play at 1440p. Have seen some videos of getting close to 60fps with it.
I assume its not using FSR as I can get 60fps on Hogwarts Legacy with a mix of med high settings 1440p.
Everyone always forgets about the amazing 1080 TI (esp the FTW3 from EVGA) with its 11 GB of VRAM
I don’t think people really forget the 1080ti
i have a gtx 1070 for my mediacenterPC and i use it for some casual gaming
Just sold my 1070ti for a 7800xt and the difference is massive. But I know the 1070 ti I just sold is being used well and is well loved
How accurate is that average finder site? I tried searching gtx 1070 and it showed the average was $900 for used. I tried it a couple more times and then it dropped to $103. Does it show innaccurately high prices very often?
I have a 1080 and looking to upgrade soon cause I wanna play games at medium to high settings with decent frame rate
The 12GB version of the EVGA 1080 is a much more solid choice imho I just upgraded from that exact card (to a 4070) and it ran everything just fine on high at 1080 but honestly I'd just bite the bullet and go for a 3070 instead as you'd be in a similar price range. I had it paired with an i7 8700k, still have the 8700k as it's still fine but plan on upgrading that later this or next year.
Yo Zach, I want to upgrade my Girlfriends set up. I got a deal on a i5-11600K CPU, on an Asus Prime H510M-A motherboard. She's using my old GTX 970. Should I go GTX 1070, or 1080, or better RTX 20 series? Basically she only playing Anno 1800, on 1080p.
Still rocking GTX 1070 with Ryzen 5 5600, i dont need better one now so i probably upgrade few months later, mby next year
I've been absolutely surprised by my EVGA GTX 1070 that I got for 70€, an old mining card. Sure, no Starfield and probably no UE5 games or Cities: Skylines 2 either, and definately no Alan Wake II, but everything else has been working very well. Especially fun is to buy all those 3-7 year old games at big discounts and be able to play those with no worries. Witcher 3 at 1920x1200 on mostly high/very high settings stays at a locked 60fps. BG3 was fine. Prey, Dishonored and Dishonored 2 all ran perfectly just about maxed out. Kingdom Come: Deliverance works really well at 1080p high/very high, only dipping a bit at nighttime with plenty of light sources and shadows. Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (with the 2021 graphics update) has been running perfectly at 1080p high as well.
Hey I’m wanting to get into pc gaming got a budget of 800-900$ I’m not looking for perfection but I little bit over medium performance you know if that makes since basically I just want it to be fast running and have good graphics. Got any tips bc like I’d pay to have one built but they’re all 1000$ or more
What are good parts if im looking to run apex legends at a stable 140 frames 1080p with a budget around $1000 cad or 800 usd
What’s your decision on gpu for a Ryzen 7 3700x?
The 1000 and 900 series is probably one of the longest used generations given the insane price jumps after the 2000 series came out. A lot of people decided to hold on to their "old" cards and wait for the market prices to go back to normal. Hell, I'm still rocking my dual 1070s!
You should do a 7900 xtx build
I have a question I am starting college and need a laptop what would u recommend? They said i7 10th gen and 8-16gig ram but I don’t wanna get ripped off in Amazon or something (edit) or just go with a Mac Pro?
9:00 also uses much less watts
Hey man, been watching most of your vids.any build budget advice for 4070 or 7900xtx?.manly for gaming on 1440p.
The 7900xtx is 10% stronger than the 4080 in 4k gaming
I just "retired" my 1070ti for a 7900 xtx. Well not entirely retired, it's gonna be redeployed on my cousin's PC.
Gave it a refreshing first of course, new thermal pads and paste and dusting. It's good to go for another few years 😃
What a great card
