The very first time, I heard the first verse, of this brilliant song, and after seeing the compassion in Darius Rucker, I cried. I still cry, each time I hear and feel this song. It's a musical-humanity-historical song. I bow-down, fall to my knees and thank God, there's people like Hootie and the Blowfish, and Darius Rucker, living on this Earth!
So thankful I got to see them in concert on two separate occasions- once during this tour, and later during their tour in support of their album 'Fairweather Johnson'.
I just love Hootie, used to see them in that little club in 5 points, in S.C. Friday nights.. Wow so long ago... Man I'm getting old. I took my daughter to see then at the USC horse shoe, on MTV back when they played music... Hootie will always be the best group....
They are touring right now in the summer of 2024 ! 😀 ..Saw them last night 7/16/24 with Collective Soul and Edwin McCain at Anaheim's Honda Center. 👍 ..ALL were Excellent ! ❣️🏆
Only in America would a band this good be so maligned for not being 'cool enough'. If these guys were English they'd be celebrated through the whole UK.

yes i agree song never really got the recognition it truly deserved. when i first got this album it was on casette, listened to it every day for like several months straight got me threw some tough times. on a much lighter note,one of the best songs from the album ty u 4 posting keep up the good work

Just had to put down my chocolate lab, needed to come back to this song for the first time in a long while.
They perform today and all that raw emotion is gone. Its best to remember the times.
