You are seriously my favorite youtuber! Your voice acting and commentary are the best. Everyday after work I love sitting down and relaxing to your videos. Also I love seeing all the new decor on the wall behind you!
He has such a pleasant, calmingly friendly voice and exudes a general demeanor/vibe that feels wholly unique amongst let's players _(even the way he reacts to jumpscares by sucking in a bunch of air or taking deep breaths seems unique to him)._ It's actually what captured my attention and sorta hooked me in, years ago, when I was randomly recommended one of his videos. I've even come to like the manner in which he levies his critiques or dislikes about a game (even when it's clear he's having a bad time). He always somehow manages to keep it respectful and kinder than maybe any other let's player I think I've ever seen - even if he clearly doesn't like a game, he still finds a way to be "glass half full" about it. All of this, without ever feeling contrived or performative.

I like how the monster could be seen moving in the distance even when its specific features were indistinct due to the fog. It’s a fun way to do that “monster lurking nearby” gimmick some games do.
That cause some pretty stressful situations and made you even loose your maping skills for a while. That only shows that sometimes one don't need a blockbuster game to have a decent entertainment.
"Oh! Chi chi poo poo!" was quite possibly your best reaction when you turned right straight into the Noh beast's face. 😂❤ I really liked the atmosphere and enemy design in this game. The mechanics and puzzles were just complex enough to create a bit more investment, but not to overstay their welcome. The maze with the candle mechanic was a very neat change of scenery. I thought the puzzle was neat in that, while you were likely to read the poem indicating the solution, you could solve it without it by using simple colour logic. It might have been interesting if the poem explained a different colour to each statue, but i think that could have just made the maze more frustrating then a brief tense spurt! I hope they make a sequel :3
@@dustindoesstuff374nah he sucks at games and constantly only says “oh that’s weird” and misses very obvious things. Both in storytelling and gameplay wise

Even the worst games have unique ideas or explore themes that "polished" titles won't. They're often deeply flawed but they take risks with decidedly mixed results. It's that risk which makes them stand out though.
@Grandmastergav86 I totally agree. 9 times out of 10, I'll take a "terrible" game over a triple a title. I just think they have so much more charm, and like this game, really interesting stories...and I love the crappy VHS filters, too 😊
@@Niki_HydnYeah, I'm playing through Elex ATM. It's very rough around the edges but interesting. I'm a fan of Piranha Bytes and Spiders' games purely because they're very different to your average AAA title.
Overall, I enjoyed some of this game. The atmosphere of Japanese horror is always dreamy and surreal, certainly a plus. And the setting is great - who does not enjoy some abandoned village in the middle of nowhere? However, most of Masked Devourer unfortunately felt pretty bland. Just the usual "solve busywork while a monster is about" nonsense. Speaking of said monster, it initially looked like a floating JPEG to me (since we only got to see the face from afar). Sure am glad it turned out to be an actual 3D model, and a quite grotesque one at that - bonus points there. And the second half undoubtedly managed to feel creepier than the first, especially the room with all those masks. But that simply is not enough to impress. The game works, sure, and you can definitely have some short-lived fun with it, but there is nothing here which has not been done already - better at that. Also, that lady's voice acting truly killed the mood at times. The initial calmness is totally fine, but her still sounding like that AFTER all hell breaks lose is just bewildering. Amateurish acting is alright, but at least try to act a little scared or freaked out. Now, I must sound quite harsh here - but one does not get anywhere without some honest criticism. After all, like I stated above, not everything was uninteresting. Ultimately, Masked Devourer is indeed a masked thing - namely, an experience which masks its run-of-the-mill nature to appear less shallow. You can build upon this for sure, but it should not be the standard going forward.
love watching your videos! i watch them so much that when my 7 month old wakes up in the middle of the night sometimes they put her right back to sleep 😂
I would love to see you play Ad Infinitum on your channel - With you, it's more like playing with a friend, rather than just screaming at jumpscares. Which I like. Good times
What this game needs is Rebe Jackson's "Centipede" written and produced by her brother Michael. Or the Eurythmics' "Don't Mess With A Missionary Man". I think I did get an explanation for the Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome character "Ironbar". Thats Aunty Entity's henchman with the kabuke mask above his head. The character was played by Angry Anderson (what a name). But does seem to fit why they had it.
Charming little game, even if the COMPLETELY static graphics for the missioner made him seem a bit silly ha ha. Speaking of, never trust a guy who tells you he's a Christian and that he can solve the Japanese lore, lmao. Still, the ending does seem leading up to a sequel, and that could be interesting!

A shame that such an interesting premise was made into such a boring game. I'm not even bothered by the jank of it, but it was just a fetch quest with sprinting and barely any story. I'm also getting tired of all the analog VHS and old PS graphics fad, especially when it is used purely for aesthetic rather than having anything to do with the game. Enjoyed the game but all that clicking noise made me want to stop watching. It is severely over used and gets to the point of being annoying rather than something to scare.
To me, this was barely okay. The story is a bit nonsensical, the voice acting mediocre, and I think the monster was a bit too present : having it show so much made it more of a nuisance than a threat as the game went by, imo.
