Garmin Body Battery on a Fenix 6X - Does it WORK?

- My new Garmin Fenix 6X has Body Battery. But does it REALLY know how you are doing???
It claims to measure stress on your body accross the day and let you see where to rest and where to train. I put it to the test, to see if it really can do what it claims, after running a Spartan obstacle course race!
Another excellent clip Mark, just bought myself the same watch (you're still costing me a fortune!) and your reviews and instructions are far clearer than every other youtube vid I've watched. I'm an older lad and have been using Whoop for about a year, I have a long history of overtraining and getting ill and this has helped. Love to hear your thoughts if you ever got one. Cheers Rick
Awesome watch, but $1000 dollars later, I wonder who is watching this?
There are cheaper ones from Garmin with this function. Cheers.
Your review is great! I had the Garmin Fenix 3,I never really gave it a chance. A short time later I bought the apple4 watch. I sold the Garmin. Then Apple 5 watch came out,I bought it. Now I’m missing my Garmin,I think I may go back to Garmin. I miss the ruggedness tech stuff!
Couldn't agree with you more! Loving my fenix 6X Sapphire, thank you Garmin!!! Great review by the way!!!!!
i consider buying one. is it worth in 2020?
@@vardansimonyan966 i got it today. Price is coming down :)
Well, that just seals it for me, from 3hr to 6x, by passing 5x+. Great review.
Cristal clear explained! Now I need an 6x too! 😁⌚👌🏻 Goodbye Fenix 5, let's welcome 6x! Amazing indeed how this body battery stuff works, can't wait to test it out myself. Thanks is for the review, really like the way you review/explain all things. Regards!
The body battery is absolutely useless itm wearing my 6pro a week now and it’s missing hours of sleep after I wake early for the toilet and therefore messes up the whole system , sometimes my body battery on waking is 5-20 whilst in reality I’m fit to do a 90minute zwift ride then go to the gym and do heavy lifting , no recoding of naps and not impressed with this feature at all
Dude love the details and that you're actually getting after it fitness wise (which is the point of the watch)
I have Instinct Tactical. Aaaaand I also have a ton of diseases and I can see it on body battery because my body is in high stress all the time. I can rarely see blue even I sleep through the day too. For days my levels can be 5 (I guess that in Garmin they didn't want to say "Sorry, you are dying".). Still, I love the watch, battery lasts long, about a week. Nice review, thanks! Maybe I'll be aiming at something like that in my future.
Great video chief, what strap you rocking there?
Perfect video and explanation. Just what i was looking for.
Joe Rogan is bullshit though. 🤪
Thanks Mark! Super valuable video. You addressed all of my concerns in terms of buying Fenix 6
Great review mate, well worth a like and sub👍
Great info great video.... Thank you very much..... getting my 6X Sapphire next weekend and looking forward to it. This will be an upgrade from Fenix 3 Sapphire bought November 2015. Works fine except for the battery which needs a charge every 4 or 5 days now. I can definitely vouch for the toughness of the Sapphire screen. Will be nice to finally have resting heart rate data etc. Take care and again awesome work here.
Ron
Fantastic video. Fascinating. I’ve been using the Apple Watch for years. Just bought one of these today.
theonlyredspecial how do you like it compared to the Apple Watch?
How are you liking it now?
Thanks for the info. You've convinced me to start looking at this a lot more closely.
Hi great vid ...please tell me what keyboard your using in the vid . I love it 👍
If you want a fun reading for body battery, go to the pub and have 2-3 pints
Great review...seriously thinking of upgrading my Apple Watch series 3 to the Fenix 6 or 6X. Watched a few reviews that mentioned body battery in passing but not in this much detail. I think this would benefit me as I sometimes workout (running) thinking I’ve recovered from my previous run only to feel completely drained a few days after. The more I look into this watch the more features I like 👍
Ste Lloyd get the garmin, don’t be foolish like I was. I had the Apple Watch 4 and found a fenix 5x on the marketplace for a great price and sold my Apple Watch and bought that. Great watch and did everything I needed it to. But after a while I fell into peer pressure and thought I missed the Apple Watch. I sold the fenix 5x and found a used Apple Watch. As soon as I put it on I immediately regretted the decision to get the watch again. That being said I gave the Apple Watch to my wife to replace her series 1 and I am going to get the fenix 6x. Don’t fall into apples gimmicks. If you want toughness and fitness capabilities go with garmin. If you want to be able to talk to text to reply to a message get Apple but tbh when are we not really having our phone in our hands to be able to reply anyway right?! Ps the sapphire is ridiculously mark resistant. I do HVAC and hit it on a lot of metal motors. Not a mark.
Great review thank you!
New subscriber, love your videos, great detail. I’ve had my Fenix 6X for about a year now and never managed to get my body battery to 100%. Any hacks or ideas why this would be?
Awesome video! Thanks for the info. Which watch face are you using?
Body battery is amazing. I had covid. And the Day before i got sick. You could see at the stress level, that i did not feel good inside (even i feld good that Day) the Day i was sick. I looked like a forrestfire to. When i drink a lot of alcohol. Mij sleep is useless. I am amazed with it
Yep, I always make sure I monitor it after a long endurance event for the next 48 hours while I recover to make sure that process is going to plan.
I thought it was a load of Bollocks UNTIL!.... I got really drunk one night slept for 11hrs that night Garmin said 0% charged 65% drained through the night unbelievably accurate!
Fantastic video. Love the witty banter. You've got a new subscriber 👍
do you work for GARMIN? lol kidding man, useful video, keep it up man,
Great video. I ordered the 6x pro. But I’m thinking maybe it will be too big. And need to get the 6 pro. What’s your opinion of the size?
Awesome, my Solar arrives today. Definitely very helpful information.
Solar team :) you gonna enjoy the solar system specially if you gonna spend lots of time outdoor and in a sunny day you gonna smile once you see the solar widget going up ^_^
nunu1871 Loving it
Hi I’m new to the Garmin smart watch so I really do know what I’m doing. I just got the Garmin forerunner 945 and was trying to figure out my VO2 max. I tried to set it up and all it said was “run 10:00mins outdoors with HR to get VO2 max.” I went for a 10min run and still not set up. Not sure what I’m doing wrong any advice?
Great video.
What is your watch-face called? I really like it. Thanks
Lovely summary, excited to have a 6x pro on the way 😃
Yes finally someone is looking at the things that are important on that watch.
However since 1 week I have the Fenix6Xsaphire but one thing kills me...sleep tracking on the FENIX3hr (and the apple watch series 4)always given me deep sleep 1,5-3 hours. The Fenix6Xsaphire how ever gives me around 10-30 minutes. You had the same issue?
Battery body levels seem ok...from point of feeling however the sleep isn’t what I expected. Greetings from Germany stay safe and healthy
Hi Mark n Nixon can u pls give us your thought about the 6x solar sports version
Brilliant video, just gone back and checked my activities and its spot on. Great training tool.
That was a pretty good, logical analysis.
Just started watching your channel any enjoying it, thanks.
I'd mostly been using the resting heart rate on my forerunner as an indicator of fatigue, but I'm now going to give the Garmin body battery another try.
Funny vid, you have yourself a subscriber.
Great review. Interesting to see what happens when your riding off road.
Great video man, you clarified a lot for me. Keep up the good work
Thanks for putting this out - very helpful to me!
Love the video and the review. Had my watch for 4 days now and still very much learning about its features. Your video even taught me i could just turn my wrist to show the time. Thanks mate, you’ve gained a new subscriber.
Great video, Mark! I've had my Garmin F6X Sapp for a week or so and like you, delighted. This is a great explanation of something that appears to work. I was struggling how to use the data and the video has given me a bit a nudge in the right direction.
I additionally use the Whoop and monitor HRV via HRV4TRAINING and although the Fenix isn't given exactly the same data, it's moving in a very similar trend, which is encouraging.
I'm hopeful that I can drop the subscription for Whoop if Garmin keep giving quantifiable data and to think the Garmin software, for now, is free! 👍
That was a great explanation on the Body Battery!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!! keep up the Great work!!! I Subscribed!
I don't suppose anyone can recommend a cheaper Garmin watch that still does the body battery thing? I am just getting back into cycling and my wife has decided to join me. So many, many thousands of pounds later I am hoping to save on the watch :)
Yes. My old Vivofit stopped working so I bought a Garmin Venu SQ about a week ago. It had some good reviews. It does everything I want and more. It’s worth spending some time looking at the features on UA-cam because it has plenty of them. I’ve compared heart rates with an old chest strap I’ve got and it’s pretty accurate. Worth the money.
@mark Lewis..sir..r u using 6x sapphire or 6x pro solar??how is ur experience with battery??do u recommend solar over sapphire??
@@MarkLewisfitness thank you sir..
Hi Mark, I love your watch. Which version of the 6X do your have ie Carbon Grey DLC or Titanium Carbon Grey and where did you get gorgeous strap? Thanks Keith
@@MarkLewisfitness Great video by the way
Cool video. Thanks. Just have to ask. What keyboard are you using on your desk? Looks fancy. :-)
Cool thanks. I have been using the Vivoactive 4 and really like it. The 6 series a little bit of $$ for my budget but maybe one day I will get it. :-)
Excellent review of the Body Battery feature on the Fenix 6X! Thanks for making the video.
Great video. Excited for my 6x to arrive:)
@ mark lewis; nive video man. I hav a forerunner 945 and dont wear it to bed... When I put it back on in the morning the body battery recharges but not to 100. Do you think the body battery is still reliable without wearing it to bed?
@@MarkLewisfitness Thanks, Strange but somehow it does vary after every night sleep. It varies between 70 - 85 when I wake up and put the watch back on... And somehow it does correlate with the way how I feel, like 70 when I feel shit and 85 when i wake up and feel fresh. Did you also notice this?
Is this BB working the same way in every Garmin watch? e.g. vivoactive / 945 / etc.?
@@MarkLewisfitness ok, but when it is inside a specific model, eg. vivoactive4, its 'iq' is the same, right?
Great review!
More than half of the Fenix 6 line production has a defective screen with a washed out bluish low contrast screen. That includes the Sapphire. The only one worth getting is the Delta Tactix.
True but I just got a fresh 6X Sapphire from them and it was the good screen. I had two 6X and three Marq with the blue screen.
Can this watch recharge itself if flat? Say if you’re stranded somewhere and don’t have a way to recharge it. Can you leave it in the sun for afew days and reboot the watch? Thanks
I'm sure you know this after 3 years but in case you don't or I can help someone who reads this, you need to get one of Garmin's Solar watches (it will explicitly say in the title or name that it is solar chargeable and costs about $100 more than the standard version). Mark also probably would have said that his watch is the Solar version but he never does and he mentioned that he charges it with the cable like anything else.
Excellent review. What watch band are you wearing? Link? Thank you.
Is it quickfit or do you have to remove the pins?
Great informative review, all I was looking for. Thanks
I use garmin for 7 days, my energy dropped terribly on the 6th day I was 25 when I woke up and on the 7th day I was 10 😵😵😵
That sounds like the watch made you 15 years younger over night xD
Low work stress !!! Nice
Love your videos, they have convinced me to buy one !! Can I ask where you got that NATO style strap from please ?
mark lewis brilliant thank you, I hadn’t realised I could put normal straps onto the Garmin I shall take a look 👀
I just saw the price.. Wow
Where is respiratory feature?
So it could measure psychological stress, could be interesting for people with anxiety and sleep disorders.
Are the cheaper garmin smartwatches technical the same when it comes to the sleeptracking and bodybatterie feature?
yes, my garmin fr 245 has it all... even the cheaper forerunner 55 has them now.
Late to the video but something you may find interesting is my hrv dropped way low and has stayed low as soon as I went on antidepressants
0:38 😂 right on
Great video!
Is the Fenix 6 pro with Gorilla glass? Thanks
@@MarkLewisfitness could you observe a blueish purplish tint ruining the screen colors when back-lighted?
@@MarkLewisfitness the tint is not caused in the sapphire search for a video Fenix 6 pro vs fenix 6 Sapphire and you will see a good screen with sapphire glass.
Nice life
great review!
i started running and doing weight workouts after long break. i am considering to buy this 6x Sapphire. I am also planning hiking from time to time. However I am not sure I need navigation as I usually go to familiar hills. So is it worth buying the watch in 2020? Or maybe wait for newer Fenix series of they are arriving soon?
damn i didnt enven know a watch like this existed. it seems useful but $600+ no thanks
You broke ass drop down and give me 20 🤣
