You know, while people keep saying that it's dumb for some of these QTEs to be here when they either do nothing (or in the case with the guitar, something that's hard to notice), but the "pointless" QTEs are actually *genius* in the case of gameplay. Not only do they make certain moments a bit more engaging, but the more practical use for them is that they prepare you for the QTEs that are *actually lethal* to screw up. The QTEs that you can't fail are spaced between the ones you can well enough to where they keep you on your toes so you aren't blindsided by a mandatory one and get an unfair game over, especially the ones where you have to button mash or have quick reaction times which can help you practice I doing both.
I’m kind of sad that some are no choice wins and some don’t change. But this game has been developing for years so I honestly like it the way it is regardless
The QTE aren’t different decisions the player can make. They’re mini games. You fail you lose. It’s not a choose your own adventure… they’re micro games. As for the no fail QTEs in the beginning, a great game will teach mechanics with low or no stakes, and then repeat that concept when the player is able to fail. The game gives the player time to learn how their game operates without feeling frustrated. It’s satisfying to learn something and then successful apply jt. As for the “QTE” for using an item… it’s just using an item. You solved the puzzle by finding the item, and now you use it.
it amkes sense for some QTEs being pointless. The developers most likely originally intended for them to have a fail state, but then found out it'd add more unnecessary complexity to the game having to create and manage more fail states. In space with markiplier has similar thing where at least one option always progresses the story. The very first 2 options: extinguish the fire or fix the oxygen should logically fail as you can only do one, so they changed the sotry a little to make the fire put iself out when you choose to fix the oxygen.
IIRC Mark wanted it to be like "you can't win without me!" but then he saw the merit of a so-called "perfect playthrough" where if you do everything right then you can win the first time.
@@_GhostMiner Funny you say that. I'm actually working on a video right now that summarizes everything they talk about relating to Who Killed Markiplier during their explanation in the charity livestream. Not just the story stuff, but the goofs, behind the scenes info, hidden cuts, and more!

With the first saving dad: You should be pulled in too and it would fade to black, then the game over screen. For the guitar, if get none of them, or just 1/3: Bonnie wouldn't appear, but it'd alert Freaktrap. If you don't do the window: Your sound meter would start to rise until it's full. Not using the hammer in time: You miss and alert Freaktrap (it won't break the hammer). The 2 star ending fail: It'd be the same as failing the 1 star quick time. Finally, not waking up dad at the end: It'd be the same as it currently is, where nothing happens until you spam E.
Actually the 2 star quick fail, can be the same as falling the 1 star quick time, you need just do it in separate saves, and you will get secret ending on 2 star save. Faz just did it in one save.
@@Still.the.best.2021 yeah, I'm not really disappointed tbh. Either way, none of that takes away from the gaming experience, just tiny things I would've liked to see for flavoring.
The ones with the spiders doesn't give you multiple chances, if you go back you can hear oswald make a loud *Gasp* sound after the first spider made it all the way down, meaning it has a animation that plays for oswald to die for failing, its just a long animation so it seems like it gave a second chance, but you still die if you fail to swat one spider
I'm confused why they made the dad and guitar events timed when the same thing happens no matter what. They could've just made them forced like what they did with some other ones.
It’s less quick time and a lot more about making the player feel engaged. It’s fun to press keys to play the guitar and there’s added tension from spamming E to save your dad. I think both of those instance would be slightly worse experiences without the quick times.
I kinda wish you could set QTEs to be automatic, because not pressing any keys yourself and having the creature yeet you onto the floor and look at you with disappointment is pretty funny. 😂
imagine if fnaf did something you probably need to wait 75 years to see a new secret or something like that?? like these gum ball (it just to interact 99 Fc# times)
I think similarly like in games where you hold breath to keep aim steady like with sniper scope, you just automatically start breathing again when meter reach 0
I'm curious. If you get chased in Jeff's Pizza after talking to Jeff, what happens if you go back to the security room? Does Springtrap chase you in there and kill you inside the room with Jeff, or does he stop chasing you immediately and waits for you to come back outside? He has no problem killing Jeff at some point, but what if you were in there WITH him, would Springtrap still kill you? Does Jeff have a special reaction? Idk.
You are not intended to be able to go back into the security room during the chase, as the door is locked. People have found a way to enter it, but since it's not intended, Jeff has no reaction at all
@@Onyx_TheyThem Breh. It would've been really cool for that to have like some sort of 'secret' cutscene or death screen. For Bonnie's guitar event, it affects how long will it take for Bonnie appear, failure making the time be the shortest possible
So would it be faster to fail if you wanted to speed run the game?
