I wonder what ozpin thinks. Or is he even still alive in his own body? What i understand here, this is what ozma's thoughts and he is in control of Ozpin's body. I wondered, where is ozpin?
I've always had a theory that it is both Ozpin and Ozma. Think of it like this- a person is made from their memories and the subconscious impulses created from them. Maybe if a different soul lived in your body and slowly "merged" with your own, both yours and the other soul's memories and subconscious impulses fuse together, and after living in the same body for years, feeling the same physical sensations, experiencing the same events, and interacting with each other during that time, you both would more or less have the same beliefs and opinions, due to sharing those formative moments, emotions, and memories. Think of it less as one voice speaking over the other, and more of two voices speaking at the same time, saying the same thing, due to sharing the same inputs. Maybe they'll disagree at some times, but they wouldn't know if they are disagreeing with themselves or with the other soul in their body, since they've lived together so long through the same experiences, that one cannot tell the difference between arguing with oneself or arguing with the other soul.
@@jimgross1464 So, by your logic, Oz (which is what I'm gonna call this ancient hybrid soul) is an amalgamation of the memories, thoughts, experiences, and personality traits of all previous hosts, with the dominant Ozma consciousness serving as the base. The minds and souls of each don't get erased when Oz attains full control, but are merely assimilated by the more dominant Oz entity, at which point they, to some degree, begin to alter said entity. That is an intriguing hypothesis and it raises further questions. Is the assimilation intentional or a side effect of the reincarnation process? How much of each person becomes part of the Oz entity? Is the change in personality immediate or does it happen bit by bit? Are the other personae still self-aware within the collective? TELL ME YOUR SECRETS OZ!!!
@@sflaningam7680 another little bit to add, being that an afterlife is confirmed to exist in Remnant, I'm guessing that once Ozpin/Ozma completed his goal, and he finally gets to pass on, his souls would be divided again, and whilst they may act very similar a little bit after the split, just like with clones, the more time they spend apart, the more differences begin to accumulate, and I guess it depends on your definition of self aware- if two entities share the same body, but are so similar that they say the same things at same time, and in which neither soul can tell if an internal argument is between their own self doubts or the other soul, are they self aware? Again, I feel like it's more two souls that are so similar that they speak the same things and believe same things, and therefore, practically act as one, instead of one killing off and absorbing the other. I think I remember that Oz's reincarnation thing works by finding a like-minded soul, maybe this makes the merging easier because there are less core differences to get over. One of these similarities could be an underlying drive to save people, and if Ozcar gets stronger, maybe we'll see if these underlying similarities causes him to act like Ozpin in certain ways- maybe he has similar opinions, strategies, likes and dislikes. We never saw Ozma's childhood, but maybe he was extremely similar to Oscar. Maybe he lived in a small farming village, but had big dreams of seeing the world, and saving everyone he could.
@@jimgross1464 So, their merging would be more like that Yugi Muto with the Pharaoh, but on a progressively more intimate level? Yes, that would make sense, however you're right in the lack of important background info. Not simply Ozma's childhood, but also the fact that his past lives were only glanced at briefly. We have no idea if a new body is chosen in the way you suggest, although it does seem logical that it would be someone compatible on a deep level, lest they inadvertently exorcise the foreign spirit like a body rejecting a donor organ. We also don't know how many lives Oz has lived and what goes on prior to each reincarnation. He didn't immediately go to Oscar after dying as Ozpin, indicating a transition period. He may very well go to the after life during that time, but the Gods' abstinence throws that into question. Furthermore, there is the most troubling issue, how much Salem knows about this. When it was revealed that Oz had returned, she was outraged, but not simply because he was back. Djinn already showed Salem knows of Oz's condition, meaning she was more angry that he had returned too quickly. This implies she knows how long transition time usually takes and that Oscar is at the moment an unknown.
@@sflaningam7680 just rewatched volume 5 chapter 3 to confirm something. Ozpin says that he had spent thousands of years "living, dying, and reincarnating in the body of a like-minded soul", so I think that answers that question. Maybe it is instantaneous that he attaches onto a new soul, but for a while he is just to exhausted to communicate. After all, fighting (and dying) takes a lot out of someone, especially when you fight with your soul (aura and semblance). Maybe Ozpin sat back to observe the new soul that he now lives with to get a better understanding of him? And maybe Salem was just pissed that Ozpin was able to get back to his allies so quickly and thwart her plans at Mistral, especially since he could have been reincarnated continents away from them, and as someone who possibly couldn't have the means or ability to move about Remnant easily. Later on in the same episode Ozpin says "He'll (Oscar) will inherit my (Ozpin's) muscle memory in time...", so maybe Oscar's soul becomes mostly dominate, just with the combined knowledge, abilities, and memories of the previous souls?
One one hand: pawn with great potential gets to become even more badass, on the other hand: motivational trauma for the heroic lead. . . Clearly a tough choice for the reincarnated old man.

So well thought out that nobody knows which piece is which. Including the players.
His expression at 1:43 is perfection
Daily life of Oz .
Qrow victory by verbal murder
Lmao "you already failed to protect that smile once"!
One one hand: pawn with great potential gets to become even more badass, on the other hand: motivational trauma for the heroic lead. . . Clearly a tough choice for the reincarnated old man.
“Flirting was a lot less destructive back in day”
Witch “day” are you referring to cause you kinda get reincarnated A LOT.
"Honestly, worst hire I've ever made. I don't even know why I gave you the headmaster position at Atlas, When you're clearly never there. The relic would be gone long before you would even take notice"
Yeah, about that...... you're not that wrong, Oz
Oz your really thinking about life.......
I love how on the chess board phyra was the only one in chibi form

1:21 A man has been severely burned in LEGO city
Did you guys just make a reference to 47 Ronin because it sounded like a reference to the treasury of loyal retainers?
Nah I skipped out on that movie.
Major props on that chess board! Pretty much the 2D version of the vol 8 opening :D
Who else wants to know why Ironwood has trust issues?
I'm more interested into why James brought Winter into this conversation? She shouldn't be there even if she is ironwood's most trusted! She literally has no business being there!
5:40 What where the french thaughts on the americans/british in ww2 after they saved their butts
2:08 yyyeeessss, RvB Season 1 Episode 1 (Grif and Simmons scene) reference
"You said headmaster"
Don't need insurance when Glinda can essentially rewind the whole mess back to what it was pre-Qrow.
ozpin being a mood
Am i the only one who noticed that Qrow pulled his flask from his shirt then put it away behind him only to grab it from his shirt again later?
What if the inner monologue is the one who owns they body and not Oz.

The fact there is no black king on that chess board really puts the stakes in perspective doesnt it?
