- 1884 Singer sewing machine it had completely seized up and needed to be restored . The original video was 35 minutes long, I had some complaints about it been too long so this is a shortened version of it .if you'd like to see the long version I'll leave this up . while I was at the museum looking for at a lamp to restore , I got a ladder and climbed up onto a mezzanine floor that had been up to for years and found half a dozen sewing machines, Plus some other cool old stuff .The museum staff didn't know there were there.
I was originally going to do just a repair and clean ,but through my own fault ended up having to do a complete restoration .
The process took me 3 months while I was doing other Restorations as well
I delivered the sewing machine back to the museum, and they were delighted with the restoration .
thanks for watching, If you like that I do restoration for free for Museums hit the Supper Thanks it helps to pay for the next restoration - Навчання та стиль
Time Team! We love 'ole Phil and his flint😄 And we love this restoration too - lovely to see this kind of "tech" being restored for future generations😍
thanks for the encouragement😀
My aunt had one just like this . This brings back good memories from my child hood .....It was a joy to watch you restore this thanks for bringing it back to life and thanks for the memories ...fantastic work as always !! 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it, glad i was able to bring back some good memories.
My grandmother and then my mother had a singer machine but slightly larger size and heavier. It was exactly similar design but they added motor in it to work with both electric and hand. It was in my family until 2004 when we immigrated out of India. The machine was in family since 1950's however the machine was made in India in 1940's during British rule. I still remember it worked like smooth with such perfect synchronization. My mother misses that machine lol.
It's amazing how many people have got fond memories of the old Singer sewing machines, thanks for sharing your story and watching
My daughter just inherited a treadle so this will help in our journey getting it cleaned up. It still has the original leather drive belt
Hi justin check out this UA-cam channel he just restores sewing machines ua-cam.com/video/Jz42RjIKcgg/v-deo.html thanks for watching
Beautiful outcome. And thank you for not putting on that fake rust.
Thanks for watching, my conscience won't let me put fake rust on
Excellent - as always! Keep them coming.
Thanks, will do!
It's beautiful, mate. 👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
Hi cathy thanks for watching
Wow! Awesome work!
Thanks for watching, I'm always on the look at for bigger projects
Wow, this looks extreme pristine, excellent restoration :)
Thank you! Cheers!
It's Time Team.
Would prefer it original as you intended initially but nice comeback, sorry for your hand and nice commitment to continue working despite the injury
thanks for watching😀
11:49 I do not know the show, but I do know that guy from medieval history of British Isles.
Tony Robinson from Black Adder. He played Baldrick. The show on the phone was Time Team.
The singer is a German icon❤
Probably a universal icon, I think the next Voyager they sent into space they should have a Singer machine on it instead of a gold record
Amazing job! How did you hurt your hand?
Thanks for watching, I cut my hands while I was doing some roofing
Hate seeing Japaning replaced with paint!! But it looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!!
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thanks1shot for forgiving me ,and for watching😃
How easy it is to find sewing machine in NZ ? I would like to know. You in Auckland ?
He's in Christchurch
There is a few around this one I restored for ferrymead Historic Park there was a Part missing and they showed me a shed full of sewing machines I think there was about 50 odd but they do not sell off the inventory, I'm in Christchurch
My great grandmother of 93 in 1965 told off how she would ride in the wagon while turning the handle and sew my great grandfathers shirts I don't know if she was bragging or not you have felt the heft of that put it in your lap and try to sew something while bouncing up and down swaying side to side.
Hi Pete thanks for sharing your story, I don't think my wife would sew my shirts in the back of a wagon with the sewing machine,
Time Team
How many times have you watched the series!
I've only watched a few episodes. I don't like how they spend more time talking than actually showing the excavations.
Fantastic job!
Thank you! Cheers!
We still need things like this around. Who knows when power will go out for a long time? Antiques, especially restored ones, may come in handy some day! I enjoyed watching this one! Back when these were built, they were meant to last, even becoming family heirlooms. Today's products are designed to fail after a short time, which is annoying.
Every time I go past the small town always check out the museums and ask them if they want anything restored for free it's amazing how stuff the sit around and no one being able to fix them.
@@richardrestorations I hope they take you up on your offer!
Ты зачем оригинальные декали уничтожил?!!!
I did put it in the description and also in the video why I had to take the base coat off. just in case you missed it it was because I had forgot I had it soaking for two days it was only supposed to be for an hour
When I took it back to the museum, it was way better than they were expecting
I have never seen fake rust on your items.
Thanks for watching👍
Зачем оригинальный орнамент испортил? Надо было осторожно. Теперь эта машина не представляет исторической ценности.
It had no value sitting on a shelf where no one can see it, yes I did make a mistake but I rectified it, and interestingly it is sitting by another unrestored sewing machine and everybody complements on the one I restored.
