Broke my left wrist right before my senior band camp. Had to go into surgery and get a plate, they said I would be out for six months. It crushed me because I was also center stick for the first time. I ended up doing my at home physical therapy and got to start drumming in 6 weeks. I ended up marching all of my senior year thankfully. Here I am 2 years after graduating, feeling stuck on the kit and hopeless. I’ve been trying to lift weights including forearm workouts. I do my routine warm ups and practices on the kit and still feel stuck. But after seeing how much of a beast you on the kit, I’m going to keep giving it my all because now I know it’s not the end. Congrats on the amazing season! (first show that has brought me to tears in a very long time)
This is awesome, i mean no harm by asking, but how long has your arm been like that? Massive respect for learning how to play with that arm! It's so cool to see someone who pushes through challenges that make them unlike the normal
@@richyking3847 I'm a drumset player in a competitive marching band currently, and I plan to go to audition camps for coats, phantom, scouts, and maybe cavaliers. I know several of these groups have tenured drumset players but i just want audition experience and to get my name out there!
How did you type 2 numbers after 6 Jk, I have different sticks to match the dynamic level of the music. 5ABs are my go to, 5As for softer & articulate playing, and the 5Bs just for going ham.
Absolutely cracked. 6 words. As an arranger who wants to break into the marching space, I’m curious-you have a lot of cymbals! Does the book have them written in with intent (I.e: I want a 16” crash on the and of 4, then a 17” in the next measure on beat 1)? Or did you have some agency over which ones to hit?
I choose whatever feels good in the moment to hit. A good example is in the closer, the crashes I hit just felt good right in the moment. Generally, that’s how drum set players will play, unless you specifically notate it in the book.
Victory Run Drum Set Cam will also be dropping soon 🟥
i needs it 🙏
So much respect playing like that, keep it up

Coolest drumset book this year, and you executed it beautifully. I can't wait to be a part of this amazing activity
What groups are you going to try out for?
