I’m so glad that I got Affinity Photo and that I found your channel, you and your husband (I hope that he’s doing better) are great instructors. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I come from a galaxy far far away, however I have never seen a master so helpful, clear and calm as you. I’m really lucky to have found this channel and I’m really enjoying learning more about this program which you have great knowledge of.
Another GREAT video. You covered things that I have never encountered/used, like using the blend range tool. I just learned about selective color and split toning adjustments and how to use them. Keep your videos coming! Love them!
Thank you for always providing a link to the sample photo. I often use them to practice my selection techniques especially as it applies to the model’s hair. Best to Ezra and yourself. Be safe. Be well.
Thank you very much for your really helpful tutorial videos. I've just completed watching 23/132 videos and I really like them. They are so understandable. Be safe and have a good time ahead!
Excellent tutorial. Changing to AP from PSD after over 25 years has been daunting. Thanks for helping smooth the transition. Oh, and it's great feeling like I actually own the software I paid for once again!
Excellent video. I would like to understand the difference between macros, presets and Luts. I know that when I add a LUT I can't see the detailed adjustments it brings as I can see in macros, as you showed in this video. But which are the other differences?
That's pretty much it. LUTs and presets can only be used to apply a stylized color/lightning effect, while macros can be used to perform any set of actions. In this case, I used the macro to apply a bunch of color adjustments, but you could have a macro do just about anything you want.
Thanks, you guys are awesome. I use Affinity Photo in by B&W film photography work flow. While I rarely do colour work, I keep on practicing, using my images with your techniques. BTW, shout out if you want to known how I approach my film workflow and maybe you can share ways to improve what I am doing.
Also make video for affinity designer and publisher, as many are moving to Affinity from Adobe , we need mre tutorials, i believe affinity can b the new king of choice for graphic designers
Hi, thank you both of you. I followed your husband's first tutorials which inspired me to purchase AP - and I have uninstalled PS from my computers. You both have wonderful, informative, instructive and pleasing presentations. I have two questions now: 1) how do you rename the layers macro? 2) do you know if in curves adjustment dialogue they have the highlight, midtone and shadow eyedrop pickers like in PS? Thanks in advance.
Thank you! I'm glad you've been enjoying our tutorials. 😊 1. You can double click on a layer to rename it. To rename the way that the MACRO names the layer, you will need to re-record the macro. 2. Affinity does not have that ability (unfortunately). I hope the developers add it someday.
Yes and no. We are focusing on the Mac/PC version for now, but at some point in the future we are going to recreate our Mac tutorials for the iPad. That won't be for a while though.
Hmm... I just double checked, and the file worked for me. I'm not sure why it's not working for you. You can ask the Affinity developers on the Affinity forums though: forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/5-affinity-on-desktop-questions-mac-and-windows/
Kind of, but macros are more powerful than presets because you can do more than just change color and lightning. You can do just about anything! Macros are equivalent to Photoshop Actions.
Done! I just made a portrait retouching course last month, and it covers dodging and burning in depth. 😊 courses.affinityrevolution.com/p/retouching-101
@@AffinityRevolution I just looked at your course and noticed it was only for the desktop version of AP...are there any tools/techniques that you discuss in the course that are not available for the iPad version?
Hey, so I love the content in your videos, but I find that you’re washing out a little too much of your personality in your voice to add more clarity to what you’re saying. I would love for you to inject a bit wider range of emotion into your voice while you’re narrating because I have trouble staying connected to the content without some sort of drama. Like, if you could sound excited, or inject a bit of humour, even a tiny bit, I think it would help me stick with the videos longer. Regardless, theyre your videos, do whatever you like, just making a personal request.
Affinity Revolution hey, that’s fair. Everybody starts somewhere, and I gotta say, the quality of your videos is just amazing. My comments are more of an individual thing to me anyways, there may be lots of people who prefer the calm cool sounding persona you present. I have ADHD, so for me, it’s hard to get connected to these videos without some kind of excitement, so don’t just change everything on account of me. And please keep up the great work. I still watch these videos to upgrade my skills, it’s just a difficulty I have.

Thanks for the tutorial and macro. Is using Affinity's macros like using Photoshop's 'process batch'.
Macros are equivalent to PS's "Actions".
Affinity Photo: *Exists with one-time payment*
Photoshop: *Chuckles* I'm in danger
Tooo true!
Love this lesson. Thanks..
Photoshop is not really in danger, as long as there are fanboys running around and crying that Affinity currently doesn't have this or that.
Great Stuff.
