I have a 2024 XT250, I added skid plate and hand guards, left exhaust stock, the EFI is tuned to the exhaust and intake so best to leave it stock . Looks like yours is running a bit rich judging from the markings on rear fender, or it has already began to melt from the exhaust. Good bike, but I disagree about it being a beginers bike. It is good also for us that have been riding road and off road for over 50 years. a good beginers bike would be like the Honda CT90 or now the CT125, low to the ground and much slower, has auto clutch and very forgiving. The XT has enough power and speed for the highway and short jaunts on a freeway at 70 mph, but I would not recomend it for a freeway motorcycle, but the highways 55 and 60 mph it does very well. I use mine to ride 30 miles on the highway to get to the national forest then ride up to the mountian peeks on logging roads and deer trails in order to setup my ham radio station. perfect for my needs, been getting 80 mpg most of the time, sometimes my milage drops to 78 mpg if I am carring all of my camping gear.
You’d be really hard pressed to find a better dual sport for a beginner. No sixth gear but the gear ratios are well spaced. I had a 2009 just like that one for my daughter but I ended up riding it way more for than she ever did.

Nice video, I've been thinking about picking up a 250 dual sport to play around on. Leaning toward the crf250l though and prefer to have EFI.

I have 09 xt 250 and been thinking about a fmf exhaust or dg exhaust. Did you have to rejet the carb.
No rejetting. But I noticed some people have issues with FMF exhaust melting turn signals. I haven't had that issue but it's commonly reported.
