EPIC ROAD ROUTE SF/BAY AREA w/ NEW YORK CYCLING FRIENDS

- On todays adventure, I head out to Sausalito to meet up with my New York instagram friends Jennifer @jennicycle and her husband Jose @joseantonio.tan to ride one of the most beautiful routes in the Bay. This was their FIRST time to California and I couldn't be more stoked to play host for the day and take them on some epic climbs and descents. The route includes Hawk hill with sprawling views on the Golden Gate bridge, followed by a -18% grade descent into the headlands. It was a spectacular day and we were lucky enough to meet even more cycling friends along the route.

Cool video - it somehow appeared in my feed and was interesting because:
- I lived and biked in New York City (across GWB SO many times over the years) for 15+ years
- Pretty sure Alex Ostroy began designing jerseys for one or more teams there during that time
- I biked in Girona (viewed that video also) with my daughter ~15 years ago - maybe did that same Hincapie loop 😁
- I live in Davis CA now and have done a few rides but am looking to get back into biking in Davis/Winters/Folsom/Bay Area but will likely begin in Davis
- I also play with vlogging ... most recent bike video was to Glacier Point in Yosemite on May 23 - just over one month ago ... my first "serious" bike ride for more than a year and it felt like it 😁

That descent looked like fun. I fresk out watching American and euro cycling vids as I'm in Australia and we drive on the left. I'd probably forget and hut a car😮. California for the weather but if you take trips to Europe the east coast would be ideal especially north Florida.

Thanks babe! i’m so glad you are enjoying the videos! I love riding road ,gravel and mountain bike considering how different the experience is! I cannot advocate enough for the Checkpoint! That bike is soooo incredible and the ISO-speed feature in the seat absorbs so much of any harsh gravel terrain. I ride so much farther, climb more elevation, and rip down descents without absorbing that extra shock into my body! It obviously does not compare to a full suspension mountain bike but it makes a huge difference! please let me know if you have any other questions
oh yes, and I film on a GoPro, iphone, and insta 360 from time to time

it definitely takes a while to be comfortable riding in traffic, and for sure there is always risk involved. This particular route is very heavily traversed by cyclists… even the tunnel that we rode through has a button that you push to let cars know that there are cyclists in the tunnel. Thank you so much for watching and I love you so much!
At 7:00 minutes I got pretty disturbed by your actions. That move just fuels the hatred that cars have for cyclists. We don't have the right of way and should be just as patient and courteous in that situation as we would expect. That car was in the intersection with turn signal on. You was in the cars blind spot and it was a dumb move on your part.
I'm confused I'm not sure what they did wrong at the intersection? I ride on the other side of the road in my country so it gets a bit weird haha
Thanks for your feedback! The entire stretch of that road that car contained a driver that was texting and doing illegal maneuvers (including an illegal U-turn) and almost hit us by entering the bike lane. If there had been a stop sign the car would absolutely have the right of way as it arrived there before us, and we would’ve had to stop at the stop sign as if we were vehicles…but there was a crosswalk, no stop sign and we did have the right of way in that situation. I yelled to avoid being hit but I always appreciate your feedback, (even if not given so gently) but I always try to be patient and courteous and follow the law. I did consult with a few people that said that I was in the right according to the laws in our state, but perhaps I’m mistaken. it is all a learning experience. @@erinohagain9841 I was sort of asking the previous poster that was saying you guys were in the wrong. I was confused about why they thought you guys had broken the road rules.
This is spot on, cars were ahead and with turn signals on. Any cyclist coming up will be in a blind spot. The right move would have been to slow/stop and allow those cars to turn before proceeding. If there is no bike lane there road rules dictate as such. It's a bit more confusing with a bike lane there but if you want to avoid getting seriously hurt you should stop/slow there.
