    how long would you say it takes to learn enough Mandarin to pass HSK1, HSK2, and HSK3? I want to take the test to show colleges that I am interested in learning, and then go my own pace to one day become fluent and take the HSK6. I really love language learning and I taught myself most of the Spanish language, however my family does speak Spanish so I was exposed to the language a lot.

    • @LTLChinese
      @LTLChinese  4 роки тому +4

      Hi Julia, this really depends how much time you learn per day.
      Let's take a base example - our Semester programs (ltl-school.com/semester-china/ - 4 hours of class per day).
      Generally after 18 weeks most students can pass HSK3. For HSK 1 you can get this done comfortably in a month and HSK 2 in 2-3 months.
      Do remember though, this really depends on consistent, intensive study.
      Hope that helps :)

    Great video Max, I'm a new sub! I have a quick question:
    When you say, for example the HSK 6 requires you to understand 5,000 words, is that 5,000 new words or is that together with the cumulative amount from HSK 1-4? Keep up the great work!

    • @LTLChinese
      @LTLChinese  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Gav, welcome to the channel, hope you enjoy our content.
      HSK 6 requires 5,000 words in total, double HSK 5 (2,500).
      Typically the jump between each level is double
      HSK 1 to 2 is 150 to 300
      HSK 2 to 3 is 300 to 600 and so forth.
      This means that the jump between HSK 1 to 2 is the easiest and quicket to make, with HSK 5 to 6 being the hardest.
      Hope this helps.

      Hi there. This will depend where you are but the best way to do this is buy online.
      For example if you go to jd.com you can search HSK books (search.jd.com/Search?keyword=hsk%E6%A0%87%E5%87%86%E6%95%99%E7%A8%8B&enc=utf-8&suggest=1.def.0.0&wq=HSK&pvid=04218d94b5e0414fbd3fc25fc4f39e3c&SID=0080550d60d102e07f0a505606b0920010700190030f1076).
      I'm not sure what's best in the Philippines but an online search will be the best way forward :)

    Random question, does anyone know how long it would take to get to HSK 4 from zero of someone that has a background in Japanese and knows ~2500 kanji?

    • @LTLChinese
      @LTLChinese  2 місяці тому +1

      Your background helps, but it entirely depends on how much time you dedicate to this.
      Are you studying full-time or part-time? Are you making Chinese friends in your spare time? How often are you exposing yourself to Mandarin?
      There is no one simple answer to this question.
      Students at LTL can reach HSK 4 within 9-12 months typically. They are studying between 20-30 hours a week.

      @LTLChinese  4 роки тому

      Hi Daniel, congrats on the GCSE by the way. It's really difficult for us to say but as a very rough barometer I'd say HSK3-4.
      Why don't you take this Vocab test at HSK 3 level we have - ltl-school.com/test/hsk-3-vocabulary-test/
      If might give you a better idea where you are at. Post us your score, and we'll see if we can pin your level down further.

    There is somthing i can't understand hsk4 it is supposed to equal b2 .so as an example to get b2 in english you need more thab 3000 wards how ican be in the same level of chinese with just 1200 words .

    • @LTLChinese

      That's the problem. HSK 4 doesn't really equal B2. In the New HSK it will be more aligned > ua-cam.com/video/DNlEYEiouqI/v-deo.html
