They run pretty good for what they are. Many folks in our MFB group run these Chinese still and most people modify them in some way to improve them, but lots of them run these stills as is and make great tasting likker from them.
I have the 10 gallon. Great little producer, but the condenser had to go after the first run. Used your video on making one in a five gallon bucket. Works so much better.
I got one of these last year, it's a great little workhorse. I've made some great shine out of it ran it about 15 xs throughout the summer. I ran it on my gas grill took about 4 hrs to run from start to finish, start out about 160 proof down to about 90 (tails). Perfect for a beginner backyard set up. I'm now looking to upgrade to a mile high still for next year and beyond.
Yep. I recommend beginners skip the thumper while learning. The thumper does add another learning curve that isn't necessary when you're first starting out.
@@StillnTheClear if the system is built correctly you should be able to use it with or without the thump. It is nice to have it so you don't have to try to build or purchase one later.
The version I just got had a permanent gasket in the lid rim which I believe to be better as far as sealing is concerned. The u-channel lid rim is also better structurally. Also, it had an actual flare compression fitting for the worm, which does not leak and doesn't need Teflon tape (so far). I tightened it with a wrench the first time to seat it well, not too tight, just firm enough to mate it with the flare. They seem to have changed it as problems became evident and made improvements. Like any compression fitting, make sure the pipe and flare are mated before you thread the nut down. For these differences, I ended paying fifteen bucks more for it. The boiler is thin, so it is 'dial a speed' on the heat. Heats up and cools down very quickly. All in all, I am very pleased with the little still. Perfect for a guy like me who only wants to piddle around anyway. When I am not messing with it, I keep it on a shelf in the padded box it came in. If you win it, grin and grab it.
i have this product and tried to use it on an electric stove. The bottom side of the main boiler is a little bit curved, and when i heat it, it shakes a lot, to the point that the water in the condenser comes out of the condenser.
I like that it doesn't have the flex pipe. That was the only problem I had with my Vevor. 3 gallon is just right for fermenting in a five gallon bucket. 👍
I'm a complete novice would like to distill. I've literally have binge watched several of you videos, it looks like you have a good relationship with vevor. Would like to see the VEVOR 20L 5.3Gal Water Alcohol Distiller 304 Stainless Steel Alcohol Still Wine Making Boiler Home Kit with Thermometer for Whiskey Brandy Essential, Sliver($169 after reg on Vevor).....in action, if you have the assembly parts around.(Don't see how you got the football by itself) Thanks again....Awesome Vids.👍👍
Unsure if I missed the giveaway timeframe but if not I'm interested. I believe I'm going to end up buying this one. I see the kits where they also have a slobberbox but unsure if I'd use that, instead maybe I'd get or build a thumper. Thanks for the review would love to see it in action.
I love my 5 gallon, but I do wish they'd make an accessories kit. I could use new hoses, washers, tape... Everything but the fermenter, thumper and worm. I did a run a few months ago, and there were little black specks going all the way to the thumper. Luckily it stopped there. Didn't taste scorched, so wondered what else it might be?
Okay I got the same pie it's a three-part system and everything is 13 and 1/2 gallons how many four shots and heads total for that 13 1/2 gallons will I be throwing away
I don't like the condenser on the lid setup.seems like you'd fight to keep water cold.when I bought one similar to start off I thought mine came with thumper but it was more like a gin basket
i could turn that 3 gallon pot into thumper for my 13 gallon vevor boiler lol, one thing about these kits, they give ya just enough to call it a still but no way is it efficiant or right

Looks like a great little still. Maybe one day you could do a run through one like that one? Enjoy your videos!!
That's a good idea.
Good video. I just got one of these and didn't know how to put it together. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom.
This will be a great little still for a beginner to learn the craft.
💯, What a great idea it was to do a drawing with it. Thanks again, brother
Nice, I've actually been looking into that exact model. I want a small still like that to practice with. Can't wait to get your livestreams back sir
I miss doing the livestream. I'm sure I'll bring it back.
That closely resembles my first still but mine came with a thumper. Fragile little things though. But a good start for anyone.
Looks good
They come with a thumper now, you can choose a glass or steel thumper now
I am definitely interested in how this little guy runs!

Yeah, that's usually the first mod most folks make.
when you used a new condenser to it output more faster?
Hmmm.... good to know.
Just got this as a gift for a chef friend. Looking forward to some interesting recipes.
That's awesome.
Awesome kit
What a great and encouraging channel.Greetings from Old England!🙂
Hi, Mark. Welcome to the channel.
I just joined up today, I ordered the 5 gallon from Vevor for 87.99 shipped. Should be here next week.
WooHoo!
What are your thoughts on this still vs the one with the 'thumper' ?? Worth going to ?
Nice still, at a great value. Thanks for sharing.

Great review somebody will get a nice prize
Thanks, Randy.
I have seen other ones with the thump keg.

Kinda funny i was already part of the group but just now learning it's your group.
I would like to see you use one of those. Been wanting to get started trying it on my own.
Maybe I should get one just to do videos.
Was thinking about buying the 5gal
Yeah, I a few who run the 5 gallon also.
i have this product and tried to use it on an electric stove. The bottom side of the main boiler is a little bit curved, and when i heat it, it shakes a lot, to the point that the water in the condenser comes out of the condenser.
Have you tried heating up more slowly?
I'd like to win.I tried once when I was a teenager:). Didn't turn out so good. Been almost 40 years. About time to try it again.
Started out with one like this still use it for wild experiments which don’t always finish in a glass
Yeah, a good size to start learning and experimenting.
I like that it doesn't have the flex pipe. That was the only problem I had with my Vevor. 3 gallon is just right for fermenting in a five gallon bucket. 👍
I agree. It seems those flexible lines cause lots a folks issues.
It looks like a good one to have for small batches
that link now goes to the Seeutek still. Is it the same/as good as the Vevor?
They are the same still. just labelled differently because of the importer.

Do we need a water pump to circulate the cold water
It is best to have a small aquarium pump circulating water from a reservoir like a bucket or barrel full of cold water.

Does that condenser come in 1/2 inch tubing? When I got mine it was 3/8.
That one is 3/8 also. Many people build a new condenser when they get this stills.

Okay I got the same pie it's a three-part system and everything is 13 and 1/2 gallons how many four shots and heads total for that 13 1/2 gallons will I be throwing away

That condenser is usually the first thing to get modified on the still when people decide to make mods.
I could use a small R&D still
Very nice kit I'd like to win it so I can get started
Anyone know how much drinkable yeild this will make?
That will depend on the wash that you run in it. Example: 3 gallons of 10% ABV wash ran out to 100 proof. You would end up with.6 gallons.
How do I join the group
