I turned my bedroom into my own man cave. It is mostly filled with Pokémon/Mario drawings and posters from those 2 genres. I also have 5 baseballs from the Charlotte Knights game. 1 was caught at the game(July 23rd, 2015) and the other 4 baseballs(1 on June 1st, 2023 & 3 on Sep 12th, 2023) were bought at the Charlotte Knights store. I'll be getting another Charlotte Knights Baseball for Christmas and another one the day after my birthday(03/08/2024).

I would like to ask the men here their opinion. My brother died to three months ago unexpectedly. He left behind tons of sports memorabilia. I know nothing about sports whatsoever. My brother was the sports maniac in the family. I hired an estate company to possibly open up an estate sale and when they first came over they told me there was not enough of value to make it worth their whole so they left. Then they came back telling me that they would give me a free six thousand dollar cleaning service in exchange for taking all of his sports memorabilia. I said yes and now don't know if that was a mistake or not. Your opinion please. Thanks. I'm only asking because I know a lot of bullshitters are out there and when it comes to being a woman a lot of people take advantage especially when they know you know nothing about sports
I'm sorry for your loss. Without knowing what's in your collection it would be hard to say. My gut instinct was telling me that you shouldn't do it. Collecting can add up pretty quickly and my guess is that if you have enough to consider a estate sale, you probably could reach and exceed that $6,000 in value easily. I would probably not go through with it.
An Autograph could easily reach $300-$500 alone depending on who they and what they are on. I truly believe that they wouldn't offer you the deal if they thought they were going to lose money on it. They probably wouldn't do it unless they thought they could make at least a few thousand piecing everything out.
Your best option is to call a premium auction house like Heritage Auctions, Goldin, SCP, or Lelands. Most of these places will offer a free appraisal. Your better off dealing directly with the auction house and let them take 15-20% commission, but at least your items will be advertised to real collectors like your brother and get actual market value if not more if a bidding war happens on some items. When my Dad passed away, we had a similar situation and had great results with Heritage Auctions. Do your research and don't rush into any decisions. Taking your time will net the best return.

There is no 6,000 dollar cleaning service in the United States unless it’s a major job with 10 to 20 guys and machines !!! You got robbed,,,, I’m the owner of a collectible store and everything has a good price !!!!!!!!!
