- I have discussed my used Shure SM7B's which I purchased through Facebook Marketplace, but today I have a brand new, genuine mic, from an authorised Shure dealer and here I unbox it to show you what a genuine mic should look like.

At this point bro is a Genuine SM7B Expert
Next up! I will find a broken one to repair… then I will look to apply for a job at Shure 😉 lol
Another microphone video? About time! :D
lol - I take it you didn’t watch the Lightroom and Keyboard vids? Lol
Thank you! I just got a new one from guitar center online, and the tape that seals the white box had (what appeared to me) Chinese font. I noticed yours is In Spanish . Everything else on my mic checked all the legitimate boxes
Awesome, glad you got yourself a legit mic.
hello, please what other equipment do i need together with this shure smb7 to get good sound on obs studio.
The easiest solution in my opinion is Rode Streamer X, Rodecaster Duo or Rodecaster Pro II… any of these audio interfaces have a pre-amp which can power the Shure SM7B and accept XLR and output through OBS via USB…
Otherwise you’re looking at buying a CloudLifter or Fethead with a Scarlett 2i2 interface… more pieces to connect together for me usually invite more points of failure…
So any of the Rode products I listed above is the simplest solution for me.
There are other options, but this is just my suggestion based off my experience… hope that helps
You don't need the bigger windscreen because unlike most people, you have proper microphone technique. (I don't even use the small one.)
I’ve seen a video where someone compares with, without, and with the big foam… might have to do my own comparison… a few more mic videos coming before I’ve milked this train lol…
I enjoyed the SM7B saga lol
lol! I have a couple more videos planned for it… the chapter isn’t quite over yet lol…
Yeah I should have done my research before I ended up spending over 500 AUD for a fake... It was from Amazon too so seeing that cheap price made me excited. I'll end up buying a real one at some point and this time I will make sure that I purchase it from an authorised seller.
Sorry to hear. Unfortunately Amazon does have 3rd party sellers on there as it’s also a selling platform for smaller businesses. Not everything comes from Amazon.
Amazon UK do stock official Shure products, but there are also listings which are not from Amazon/Shure.
I did make a video as a buying guide for how I would search for a used one.
Not only are there fake microphones, there are also Grey Market ones which aren’t that much of a concern.
I’ve also got a video on this topic also.
Worth being aware of in general for all things tech

I got one from Amazon UK, looks legit, serial number works on Shure Website, only “issue” is my seal sticker had only Chinese written on it. Is that weird or a red flag?
I’ve done a video on this topic and it could be a Grey Market version… check the video out and compare the labels. Sometimes on Amazon you are purchasing via a 3rd Party Seller rather than Amazon directly. So you gotta keep an eye out on your listings.
@@leo_hoang I will watch that, however the receipt and order details says “Sold by AMAZON UK” so is this still possible that it would come from 3Rd party seller?
Also is grey market still legit or not?
@@leo_hoang also the new one from Amazon has a rougher texture on the metal used for the main body, my older one (also older packaging) has smooth surface.
How’s the one you unboxed?
Thanks for the help btw 🙏🏻
@@nick.dedmor7504 this one has a more textured feel to it vs. Some others I have… could be wear and tear or a generational manufacturing difference… how much did you pay?
@@leo_hoang receipt and “Order Details” says Sold by “Amazon EU Sarl” so could that be a 3rd party? Wouldn’t they mention the store in this case?
Is there difference in sound between made in china and made in mexico ?
Unfortunately I’ve not tried a “Made In Mexico” one and I wouldn’t be the best person to check. I would imagine they would be the same, if not close enough, but the majority of the ones I’ve seen are Made In China so I suspect that’s the main manufacturer.
@@leo_hoang Thank you a lot for the reply, I get one and it’s also Made in China and sounds super good, so can’t imagine the units which are Made in Mexico to have big differences.. at least hope they sounds the same because can’t find someone on internet who have both and make a comparison between them
If i ever come across one Made in Mexico I will do a comparison… I’ve seen other comparisons for SM58 and those have little to no difference… so I would imagine it be the same for SM7B
The cartridge and chassis are the exact same part number so I highly doubt they sound any different.
Thank you! I just got one on Ebay and it was fake. Yikes.
Glad the video helped but sorry to hear you ended up with a fake…
Is it the ones selling "New" for $133 bucks? I was looking for possible scams because of how cheap they were.
@@DomiToonami Sadly it was 200€.
