Fantastic reading. Love this story, especially as I work in a hotel with no room 13. At least, I think...
I think you need to see what's going on between rooms 12 and 14 after midnight, James!
The subtle humor in this tale was perfectly executed in your reading. I particularly liked the rallying speech about there being no German in the room with 5 vs 1 even if there was. I actually laughed out loud at that. Thumbs up again!
Seems like M.R. James being a medievalist was particularly fascinated by Scandinavian history and sets a great deal of his stories in there.
Awesome reading! Keep up the good work.
That is exactly what I thought !
Great reading as always, Ian. Listening to these stories always makes me wish that I could have lived as an Anglo aristocrat from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. Seems like a great time to have been alive, so long as one was wealthy.
Absolutely - and yes, you'd certainly want a weighty coin purse.
Always love these. Perfect for isolation time......your voice, the wonderful story...and our imaginations, running ahead in scary heartbeats...
Absolutely under-rated channel. Can’t thank you enough for distractions from everyday, and tragic, life. I appreciate all you have done with this channel. Liked and subscribed.
Thanks for listening, Vidalion. All the best from Jennifer and me. Ian
Being used to horror stories from around the world, I was quite amazed to find this story, that takes place in a city, only 20 kilometers from where I live.
Also great naration as always, Mr Gordon 👍
Thanks for listening, Martin!
Amazing tale and narration! Thanks, Ian!
31:45 "Is this the Danish courage I have heard so much of? It isn't a German in there, and if it was, we are five-to-one!"
I really liked this story....I love them all!
Quite an interesting ghost tale. It seems they have them all over the world. With each one, you master the character's roles very well.
Brilliant, this is tonight's bedtime story!! Thank you very much!!!
30:42 Legitimately gave me goosebumps
Great read! I've been listening to this channel working the graveyard shift each night, Thank you.
I would have specifically asked for room 9
And one additional dummy as well.... I hit random keys because I wasn't sure if I was able to leave comments because.... Well, I'm a dummy. But now that I know I can, I would like to extend my appreciation to the creators and narrators of this channel. I'm in love. Exquisite love. Horror..... Gives me comfort. I'm hoping those who are huge fans of the genre understand this sentiment. I think they do. I think it's admirable that you, Ian and Jen, take the time to respond to each individual comment. I can't imagine the amount of work that is required in order for your channel to remain as impressive as it is. As so many others have said, thank you. Truly. I find myself thinking about HorrorBabble in the middle of the day and it helps me get through so that I can once more crawl under the covers and be taken somewhere magical by your voices telling the stories I live for. Thank you. Thank you.
One of my favourite James stories!
Listened to this at work last night.
You certainly did one of my favourite ghost stories of all time, justice 😀👍
Great job, matey 👍
Thanks, Mr. V!
Loving your channel !!! Many blessings to you and family dear old soul , lol.
Funny to hear a horror story set in my native Jutland.
Excellent!
Good reading as always!!
One of M. R.'s finest 😀👍
Nobody does it better....
The ending was a little odd wasn’t it? But it was enthralling in some parts!
