  • Have you ever heard of Republic of Buryatia? Capital city of Buryatia is called Ulan-Ude. This is one of the most important stops on Trans-Siberian route as it splits the route into three different:
    1. Original Trans-Siberian, that continues towards Vladivostok
    2. Trans-Mongolian, that continues towards Ulaanbaatar
    3. Trans-Manchurian, that continues towards Beijing
Ulan Ude is very known by its people, Buryats, that are ethnic group similar to Mongolians. However, they are not majority ethnic group, but instead Russians. Ulan Ude is also centre of buddhism in Russia.
When it comes to Trans-Siberian route, this is by far the most spectacular part of the journey. Before you get to Ulan-Ude, you have to pass by Lake Baikal which is the best part of whole Trans-Siberian Route.
However, that is not all. From here on you will experience pure Siberia. Train ride next to the river Selenga, peasants houses, birches, pines, Kamaz trucks and one railway that connects it all, that is Siberia. It is hard to describe, so plan to go there and experience it by yourself!
If you have any other comments please leave it bellow. I would very appreciate if you give your suggestions about some unusual railways or either train to experience.
