- Miniware seemed to have over engineered the DT71 digital tweezers by over emphasizing on the physical size over the reliability of the unit. My DT71 failed after just a few weeks of casual use. In this video you will see the failure mode in this video and how I fixed it.

Personally I think they where a bad idea, but kudos to them for trying, and to you for getting them open with minimal damage !.....cheers.
Not being able to replace the battery could have been somewhat offset by them selling spare arm units, but they don't even do that... At this point I'm not sure I can recommend their products over someone like pine64 for example...
The obsession with being small over took any idea of being practical. Implementing common review opinions might give them a winner next time. That plus if it where "repairable" would given them an edge, even if it cost a little more.
Did you try the charger after you have manually charged? I had this happen on other devices that some undervoltage protection prevented the charging circuit to work...
Yep, I checked, did not work after I charged the battery. Had to be something physical like a broken connection somewhere.
Lithium batteries become unsafe to charge once they have fallen below 2.5v per cell. Otherwise there is risk of fire/explosion. So the supplied charger will refuse to charge them.
You can force them back to life as shown in this video but the risk of fire is there.
The real problem is why the electronics in the device allow the batteries to reach such a low and damaging state of charge in the first place.
Oh. That's how I'm charging one of my phones for at least half a year already.
The stick could have been longer and the battery in the head. Could provide also a USB connection like the soldering irons and who knows some basic data logging software I guess... But oh well... Nice try I guess.
Luckily I did not buy it after watching.
Pretty pathetic product if you ask me.
