Exactly, that's it. We just have a few professional fire stations but with loads of units in it. And every german city have volunteer companies, supporting the professionals.

Answering 2 year old comments... yay... here we go:
In Germany (at least in big towns) we usually have the mentioned few big stations. That originated from the standardtized unit of the "Löschzug", which containes the chief car, the ladder truck and two engines. Career Firefighters also man many special units, like hazmat response units, cranes, diver echelons and so on, and each special unit has their own vehicle usually, so you need more stalls. Additionally they typically man the EMS, which means they have about three or more EMS cars on station.
In recent years though, many big cities outgrew this concept of few big stations. Frankfurt, Hamburg and Stuttgart for example are planning to reform their FD to have many small stations like in the US with three to four stalls in it. They want to have an engine and an EMS car on station, maybe a laddertruck and a special units car, and then they want the units to meet up on scene instead of having all units respond from one station in a convoi like seen in this video. The idea here is that a convoi can get stuck in traffic and that means that the whole convoi is stuck, while independend responding engines are more likely to get through with at least one unit. Also respond times can get lower, because the distance to the next station is usually shorter when you have many stations scattered around.
I might also need to mention, that only big cities with over 100.000 residents are required to have a carreer FD. Smaller towns and villages have volunteer FDs, where the trucks and the gear is paid for by the town and the personell is the average joe who has got a job like everyone else and has a pager which alerts him when in need. There the size and the count of trucks depends on the size of the town and how much money they are willing to spend over what is legally required. This system worked back when even smaller villages provided jobs for everyone living there. But with the growing urbanization many people tend to drive to work to the next town and are therefore not avaiable at worktimes, so responses tend to be poorly manned during the day or have horrible response times. We are seeing this issue for years now and noone has an answer to that problem, yet...

Schönes Video! der RTW ist aber nicht von der BIERKA. Es handelt sich um den 8-RTW-2 der Firma URK Haupt, sowie um das 1-NEF-1 :)
