Excellent explanation!!! Enjoyed this immensely. I am from Statesboro, and was just there in the Cemetery on Wednesday with my son. It had been a long time since I had been there, so we went on a drive around, just looking at the beauty there. So interesting to do. Is it odd to say it was the high light of my day in Savannah??? I hope not! :o)

As none of us are that old, we forget that during the "rural cemetery movement," they were designed as our first parks and a part of a recreational delight, along with being a place to ponder nature, beauty, mortality and more.
