  • All across cemeteries in the world, one sees little stones stacked across headstones and graves and other monuments and they very much arouse the curiosity of the visitor. Here, storyist, Shannon Scott of Bonaventure Cemetery Tour Journeys, explores the subject, and even finds a moment to plug The Savannah Bee Company! To think some of Bonaventure's bees, adding to the flavor of their products!

Excellent explanation!!! Enjoyed this immensely. I am from Statesboro, and was just there in the Cemetery on Wednesday with my son. It had been a long time since I had been there, so we went on a drive around, just looking at the beauty there. So interesting to do. Is it odd to say it was the high light of my day in Savannah??? I hope not! :o)

Glad to hear it LadyGreenEyes79! You're not strange at all in your love for the place or it being the highlight of your day! As none of us are that old, we forget that during the "rural cemetery movement," they were designed as our first parks and a part of a recreational delight, along with being a place to ponder nature, beauty, mortality and more. So you're right in line and in touch with that spirit!
