  • This song hits differently from this angle, I'll give it that. But it's Papa Roach! How does anyone make something so iconic *better*? I guess we will have to find out! Let's Do This!

Papa Roach's version was like teenage angst that fit in perfectly at the time. This... this is a grown man who has lived one hell of a life and is truely at that "Last Resort"

Yes teenage anger and attention seeking vs an adult sitting in the bathroom gun in hand seeing no hope ahead of them. And choosing to put the gun down.

For me I just love both. Music is the winner when you get a really good cover, and this is as close to making a song your own as you can get while doing a cover.

The Original "Last Resort" quite literally saved me.
My Highschool years, 1996 - 2000. Early years of Highschool, i was hit with a sudden medical issue that essentially had my lungs randomly collapse in a strangely alternating fashion every 2 weeks (ie: first the right, then the left, then right again). Result after the 4th one was a surgery over the summer between Freshman and Sophomore year. Fast-forward to my Sr year, and the problem came back, only when it came back, it nearly took me in my sleep (though i managed to be to stubborn to lay there and die and managed to claw my way back from the brink till the EMS that responded could help the rest of the way). Needless to say, i was in seriously deep spirits facing yet another 'gauntlet' of what i thought i had already beat.
Then Last Resort came out, and something in that song snagged me. I found myself one night, prior to a 2nd, more severe surgery being planned/scheduled after yet another collapse, sitting on the edge of my bed in my room at 2am with Last Resort playing on repeat, spinning a 8in hunting knife between my hands. I was simply 'tired of fighting', despite having quite literally fighting to live just a few weeks before.
A Combination of Last Resort, and my own stubbornness, and a dash of the values my parents had instilled in me, is what kept me from falling to those daemons. Stubbornness and being brought up to 'not harm those you care about' gave me the resistance, but Last Resort gave me the outlet to quietly scream at while i fought that silent battle in my head. 6:08 - 6:48 WAS my battle that night.
Ronnie's Reimagined version of this song is what " I " lived though. Its what " I " was hearing when i heard the original. And the final bit of his Video, with all the walls rebuilding themselves, is what the song did 'for' me all those years ago.

THANK YOU!! I have watched so many reactions since this song dropped and you are the first to say that about Jacoby!! ❤ Every time I leave a message that's exactly what I say but not one other reactor has mentioned the fact that Jacoby wrote those powerful lyrics ❤

@@truebrodown Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but there's a video on Ronnie's personal youtube channel of him showing the song to Jacoby Shaddix in person, before it was finished and officially released. You could just see how happy he was and how much he loved Ronnie's version.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this goes down in history similarly to how Johny Cash's cover of Hurt by Nine Inch Nails did. Where for some people the cover is the "true" version of the song, just because how much more that version resonated with them.
I myself loved the original by Papa Roach ever since I first heard it, and I still do, but I can't deny that Ronnie's version hit me on a much deeper level. In part maybe that's due to the fact that my mother passed away a few years ago, and so the "It all started when I lost my mother" line hit me much harder than it originally did.
But regardless, even though I love the original song, Ronnie's version has captured my heart in a way the original never did, and I have both Ronnie Radke AND Jacoby Shaddix to thank for that.

Great Reaction! New follower, Ronnie said he went into the booth and did it in 25mins and in one take, Ronnie is magically talented and is incredible. The last few seconds of the music video is him reversing the world from blowing up during Watch The World Burn. The world is literally Falling In Reverse. That piano is brilliant, This version did the old version justice.

It does seem that Ronnie likes blowing up cities 😂 At least he put this one back together. I loved everything about this. I know and like the original but didn’t have the connection to it that I know other people had. I do have a couple of songs that are important to me and I wouldn’t want someone else to cover or reimagine so I get what you’re saying 😊❤

This man comes very close to Chester Bennington. As with Chester, you can feel the pain in his scream. LP should get him and work with him. He sings like an angel and screams like the devil. Just great 🖤🎧
Just like him, you feel the pain because he transports it authentically. Just great, can't get enough. I think he would be a worthy successor to Chester and could revive LP. Nobody can replace Chester, but this man is damn close. He gave me goosebumps like only Chester could. But when he screams like that at the end of the song, Chester was there for a split second and that was just great. A Masterpiece ❤

I think every generation needs its cry for help songs. Obviously there's a mental illness problem. this did just that, along with "hi ren" by Ren. The original version seemed more angry threatening to do it, this one is like he has the blade against his skin in desperation waiting for someone to say its fine.
