I think this is the most interesting camera out there.

In regards to shooting at 120 FPS. There is a way you can review the shot you want in the camera and delete everything else in that burst. It's not cumbersome and it's easy to do. What you do is set your display to view bursts as a "group". And when you review it later, however many frames are in that particular "burst" you "expand" the display and then if you like a specific image, for example, like a kingfisher's beak just touching the service of the lake, just "protect" it using the C3 button, already set by default to do that while you are reviewing your photos, and then DELETE the group. That way you don't end up having to review hundreds of images on your PC. East Peezy and a great feature! So go ahead and shoot at 120 fps. Its unbelievable how many great captures you will get! Believe me!

I have recently swapped my A1 for an A9III in order to immerse myself in the new Technology for my wildlife photography. It does seem to be better for bird action. Certainly capturing more images with this camera . Still work in progress. A1 2 hopefully coming soon ! 🤔

Sounds perfect - would love to be rich enough to buy the camera let alone a lens to go with it too! Enjoyed this review, and you have pointed me towards looking at the A7Rv since you mentioned it, so will be checking that out! Thanks for a super review on this. I know I want it, but I also know I can't have it. Maybe for a hobbyist like me, anyway, it's probably TOO good! Lol!

Good review. Imo the A9 III is Sony’s best hybrid video camera. Looking at dynastic range, the exposure latitude is the best of any mirrorless… matching Reds V-Raptor-X. Think of exposure latitude as the practical application of dynamic range. The more exposure latitude the more flexible the image in post, when you need to lift shadows or bring down highlights. The A9 III best the other Sonys in exposure latitude in video… combine that with the global shutter and you have a compelling video tool.
A couple of things I’d like to see via firmware:
    • Opengate video mode. It’s something they could add via firmware. Zero reason not to offer this when a Panasonic for 1/3rd the price offers this feature.
    • Lens correction to get rid of the IBIS wobble. Panasonic recently added this also and it looks marvelous.

An impressive camera in some ways. Very specialised really for bird photography unless you want to photograph birds taking off from a post all the time. Weaknesses - low light performance and 24mp. You will need to be close to your birds because you are not going to crop much at all with the A9iii. Interesting that most reviewers would keep it set to 30 fps usually, same as Sony A1, a camera you do not mention much. I believe most users who do not sell their A9iii (WEX have many now) will be sports users, where it would excel.
