- In 1961 I produced "The Idol," a documentary about teen idol Bobby Vee that became part of Desilu Sales' "Windows on the World" syndicated series. Bobby himself was still a teenager himself at the time, just 18, but had already recorded a string of hit records and albums, most of them written by the husband-and-wife team of Carole King and Gerry Goffin. They included "Take Good Care of My Baby," "Run to Him," and "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes." Bobby died today (10/24/16) of complications of Alzheimer's disease at the age of 73. Here is the closing five minutes of the documentary, which includes the title song, written by King and Goffin. It was never released on record.
Merci pour ce partage
Vraiment exceptionnel
Merci à vous
J'aime beaucoup la voix de ce chanteur americain
Je l'écoute régulièrement
C'est un véritable plaisir
RIP Bobby Vee
I actually appear in this documentary at around 4:52 of the footage. This was my 3 seconds of fame and something I have treasured for 55 years. Bobby and I had conversed about this later at one of his appearances. Just saddened by his loss. Thankfully there is alot of wonderful songs and movies to carry on his Legend. He truly was an Idol.
Mikki, How lucky for you to have been in a scene of this Bobby Vee documentary. At this time, I was only about twelve years old, but even then I know I was a Bobby Vee fan. I loved all of his songs. We have all lost a true American "Idol."
Loved him ❤ alot of my life ..miss him so much ...Great voice and seemed such q lovely guy xx
It would be awesome if we could view the complete film
Have you got the full documentary this is only a part of it
Lew - I hope you can solve a mystery - Bobby's normal producer Snuff Garrett, has claimed he had no part in producing the songs that BV sings in the film, including the title song. I have my doubts on this. If it was not him, who was it? - Ernie Freeman perhaps?
