The app I use for stream flows is called "river data" the paid version is not in metric. I have also used onx as a mapping program , its very good very good the pricing is $35 /year for one state and $100 for unlimited. My bag and belt are both Fishpond and I got them years apart. The bag is IKEA $1.
Mike, enjoy your videos a lot. I’m newish (3 years) to fly fishing because it’s my teenager’s obsession. It has been life changing for both of us. Anyway I think I’m of a similar vintage as you and a lot of your tips and wisdom are very much appreciated for an old dog trying to learn new tricks. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for the support. Glad it helped
I also have a small roll of toilet paper in a plastic sandwich bag,one piece of emergency equipment that doesn’t really need explaining 😂
good idea.
great video! 🎣🎣
I like to have my rod(s) rigged before I go. It's kinda fun getting them ready the day before. Part of my routine that gets me stoked. I'm lucky that I have a Subaru Outback that accommodates a 9' rod. I keep them on a pad with a little towel wrapped around them for tip protection. The pad also serves for putting waders on so I don't step on anything bad for the neoprene booties. Cool video. Your advice about letting someone know is vital for anyone using the outdoors alone.
I think its interesting how people have different tackle boxes, mine's a honda yours is a subaru , some are jeeps. Maybe I should do a video about these mobile tackle boxes.
@MikeMouradian I like the Subaru for its length. But yeah, it always got some gear in it!
1) Instead of google maps I use an app that shows private lands and trails. I pause the subscription during off months or during months when I fish familiar waters.
2) I always keep back-ups in the car for items that can stop fishing. For example, extra rod, extra spooled reels, extra sunglasses, extra hat, extra snippers, extra flies.
3) I also keep 4-5 bottles of water especially in summer months in the car and take a bottle to the river.
4) There are two sets of towels in the car. When the waders leak, they are huge help for both drying myself and keeping the car seat dry on the way to home.
5) I also have a silicone sandwich bag to keep my wallet, phone and car fob dry in case I fall into the water and my sling bag gets wet.
I forgot the water! Great other hints too. Don't you feel like your car is your tackle box!
Nice video. I miss the days of being hours and miles away from my truck and no phone . I would fish a stream from the top of the mountain to the river and follow the river up to the next stream and fish it back to the top then across the top back to my truck
very nice. There are still a lot of areas In Michigan where there is no cell service and it is a blessing.
I use to have forearms like that. I wonder what happened. Oh yeah, I got old. 🤷🏻♂️😂
Thanks for the videos, I always enjoy them.
I'm 72, just a lot of casting.
I too am 72. Too much golf and not enough casting. lol
Old Guys Rule. Thanks for all the videos. Great shared logical information and clever ideas .
always thanks for the encouragement.
Gosh, Mike, we do things so similar. It’s scary. I even have a pair of gloves for bushwhacking and an IKEA bag. If you’re ever heading east and fishing in Pennsylvania, let me know. I’d love to fish with you and maybe show you some of my spots.
Great minds think alike! My daughter lives in Philly. Where in PA are you? Aways looking for new places to fish.
Another great video!
Wow, Thanks
@ I had watched a couple of your videos that came up & now I have subscribed. Very entertaining! I’ll work my way through your earlier videos as I find the time. Congrats on a great channel.
