I was all 'Ligered' out after the Blade Liger and Liger Zero so i didn't bother with this one but great video and I'm thinking you might now have made me regret not buying it!!👍
@@spacehamsterZHout of interest the 40th Anniversary Deathsaurer is now available for pre-order on HLJ's website. Have you heard of these 'Realize' Zoid models?, they look like Kotobukiya zoids but are made from resin, apparently there's a 'molga' and a 'hellcat' in the pipeline, they look cool, no idea where they're available from. 👍
@@grahamsmith2022 the Realize line looks like it's going to be a pretty standard release, so I expect we'll be able to get them from HLJ. I think they look really good, but I'm also not sure we need a line from TT themselves to compete with Kotobukiya at a smaller scale, it's a bit weird.
@@spacehamsterZH thanks for that bud, I knew you'd probably have heard of them, I've never heard of them, they look like the Tomy kits in design/proportions but with added detail, it's great after 40 years that Zoids are still alive and kicking. 👍
I was really happy with this one when I got it. Chaotic Century is my favourite Zoids anime (I mean, *of course* it is) but Genesis is the one I feel like I can recommend to people who aren't necessarily fans of Zoids. I mean, if there was a reasonable way to watch it, anyway. The full-colour center page with all the lore deets in the center of the manual also has a section that goes into some of the design considerations for the AZ version, and one thing that was called out there was the colour choice. The armour on the original is that standard blue colour, while the lighting in Genesis practically makes it look green. For the AZ kit they wanted to split the difference, and I guess someone along the process decided they were going all out with it so we got that gorgeous metallic plastic instead of, like, dull teal as it very well could have ended up. Funny enough I only knew the front-leg pile bunkers were a thing (are they _ever_ used or acknowledged in the anime?) because this one Japanese online secondhand retailer I used to check a few times a week had a bunch of silver chrome customize parts of them for the original model.
Oh, looks like I need to point Google translate at those pages in the manual then. I love these kinds of detailed explanations of design choices. Couldn't tell you if the pile bunkers were ever used in the anime either, but I also didn't get very far in it because there were no fansubs at the time. Which reminds me that I need to try and find just that sometime. It always did seem pretty cool and maybe a bit less squarely directed at kids than CC was.
@@spacehamsterZH There's a couple episodes early on that serve as a.. likely quitting point, but if you can push past those it's probably the most 'mature' feeling Zoids anime, in particular with a depiction of fascism in practice that's spot-on in a way you don't typically see in animated media. A small part of me is sad it didn't get an English localization, just to see how poorly they would fumble _all of it_
@@unworthyBeatrix If you don't mind my chiming in, I think the Hayate Liger also has the Pile Bunkers on its legs and I remember them being used in the fight where Bio Volcano is introduced. He uses them to make a very sudden direction change into a stop. The momentum carries him in a spin but it ends very quickly. I suppose it's the next step in the evolution of Liger-type Zoids, allowing their mobility to be sharper and more responsive than even the Liger Zero's. In the game Zoids: Full Metal Crash, Murasame Liger uses them in the end of his standard attack combo where he forces his paw forward like a palm strike and fires off the Bunkers to add an extra oomf to the attack that give the opponent a pretty heavy knockback. The anime didn't reflect this but I suppose it has combat uses on top of mobility enhancement.
Well, they're a bit on the expensive side, but honestly, for what you're getting and given that there aren't too many of them anyway... I'd certainly recommend it.
@@spacehamsterZH Sort of agree, the 31 flavors of Liger 0 is a huge put off for me at least, They're like Ford Mustangs...EVERYONE has one "oh, you got a Mustang? Wow cool (eyes rolling) what color". Made worse how EVERYONE seems to think it's the only Zoid.
@Watterson1029 yeah, same here. Having grown up with the OER, Zoids will always be primarily robot dinosaurs to me, and I'm still not entirely over the fact that the NJR turned it into a cat franchise. ...you know, 25 years later 😂
Honestly, once I had it all put together I didn't think it was such a big deal anymore, but it would probably still be an improvement if you painted those pieces - plus they're all in spots where you don't particularly have to worry about paint scraping off, so might as well.
those are not japanese written in sword. if you see the anime decalto and gil dragon have thesame markings so as the rare limited edition genesis redler
Yeah, not the long inscription along the blade, there's a sticker with two characters that are also on the blade that look... sort of like Kanji, but also weird, those are the ones I meant.
@@spacehamsterZH Yeah, I don't quite get how the... fonts or whatever work, but the kanji on the blade is 村雨, meaning 'Murasame' (or 'Autumn Rain,' if you want to translate it all the way). I recall it changing in the anime for the evolt stuff (presumably to hayate and mugen, respectively)
@@Watterson1029 Yeah, I get that, it just doesn't look like any Japanese font I've ever seen. In my experience they tend to either go blocky or really lean into the brushstroke shapes. The thin lines strike me as pretty unusual.
