- Joe Biden, During an exclusive interview with Univision, stated that he would consider taking further executive action on guns and criticized 2024 Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump because Trump “famously told the NRA that, don’t worry, no one’s going to touch your guns” if Trump won.
Interviewer Enrique Acevedo asked, “[G]un violence remains the number one cause of death for children in America. Latinos have made it a top priority across the country, especially in places like El Paso and Uvalde in Texas. Your administration called on Congress to pass common-sense gun laws, but that’s unlikely to happen in the next few months. If you’re re-elected, would you consider taking further executive action on this issue?”
Biden responded, “Absolutely. Look, I, along with Dianne Feinstein, passed the first limitation on assault weapons and the number of bullets that could be in a rifle. The idea anybody needs 100 rounds in a rifle, in an AR-15, I was out in Uvalde. I met with every one of those families. I spent four hours with them. I looked at the pain in their faces. I saw what they felt. I could feel it. And the idea that - and his phrase [in] another context where there was a mass shooting, I think it was in El Paso, he said - they said, what to do about it, and he said, just get over it, you’ve got to get over it, the idea we don’t have background checks for anybody purchasing a weapon, the idea that we’re going to be in a position where he says that - he famously told the NRA that, don’t worry, no one’s going to touch your guns if I - from the very beginning, I used to teach the Second Amendment in law school, from the very beginning, there were limitations. You couldn’t own a cannon. You couldn’t - you could own a rifle or a gun, but there were certain things you couldn’t do. They weren’t weapons of war. And so, look, we passed the first major gun legislation in over 30 years when we passed the law that we recently passed that outlaws weapons that are made that you can’t trace and so on and so forth. And - but it’s not enough. I think we have to do more, and I am absolutely committed. And I’ve asked the Congress, and if I get a Congress and get re-elected, we’re going to do it again. We’re going to make sure we eliminate these weapons.”

The argument of “You don’t need it” puzzles me every time. This is America I don’t NEED anything I WANT it.
When they say that, they are effectively saying "you don't need your rights". The rights given to citizens are NOT there to make it easy on the government.
Don’t need more than one pair of shoes either. Don’t even need a house. Don’t need a car. Really, the only thing you “NEED” is food and water.
That “argument” isn’t an argument. They don’t get to make that decision on our behalf.
My brother in law said that’s how 2A people need to address it. “It’s my right, I like them, and I want them” not to fight tyranny even though that’s a reason for the 2A, but because what he said there’s no way to argue. It’s just like a woman wanting multiple pairs of shoes. You don’t need them, you don’t NEED any shoes, but you like them and you want them plus they are useful in protecting your feet.
You can own a car even though you don’t need it, but you like having one. You like the comfort it brings, but it can also be a deadly weapon in the wrong hands. Same as a gun. “But a cars primary use isn’t to kill people!” Neither is a gun. It’s to hunt for food, sporting, AND protection. Thousands of rounds get fired every day without incident.

I told her there was and took to a FFL Dealer and told her to walk up to the clerk and ask to purchase a firearm. She did, the clerk wiped out form 4473 and she asked what it was clerk answered it's the criminal background check required to purchase a firearm. My aunt looked at me in complete shock. At that moment she realized democrats were lying to her

1968 gun control act showed no decrease in crime either. Crime actually went up.

This has been said too many times, but to anyone under the impression that you can buy a gun (any gun) without passing a background check, take an hour out of your day, go down to your local armory, and try.

The Second Amendment protects our right to bear arms, and excessive regulations infringe upon that right. Gun violence is a serious issue, but addressing it through measures that restrict law-abiding citizens' access to firearms isn't the solution.

Repeal the 2nd amendment:
The process for repealing or changing an Amendment is outlined in Article V of the Constitution, and basically requires at least 2/3 of both Houses of Congress to agree on the change, which must then be ratified (approved) by no less than 3/4 of all the states

The US government used to sell cannons to citizens. The same US government literally sold surplus army rifles to its citizens, and even broke its own NFA in the process.
Reminder: The rules on short barreled rifles being less than 16" in barrel length literally came about because the US government sold a bunch of carbines to the public that had barrel lengths of 16.5", and the law at the time had rifles requiring the same 18" barrel as shotguns. Instead of the US government acknowledging that their regulation was de facto purposeless, they changed the law to 16" before their new customers could sue them for selling them "contraband".
Ayup. The British marching on Concord and Lexington weren’t after people’s rifles, pistols or shotguns - the guns they were after were cannons, and just about all of them were privately owned.

They are fun, but also still used in the modern world for legitimate purposes. A lot of places have moved to old artillery pieces, but cannons are still used to trigger controlled avalanches/rock falls.
